Telescope function.
You can zoom in game by pressing Z. I would like the view to change to a telescope lens. Even blackout the screen apart from a circle in the centre. More immersive.

Seems there is one now after I requested it :)
"Well, you got me thinking, and testing, AND, what wouldn't work with GB, works with Waterloo. MyGui made it possible to have telescope views while allowing panning, what the GB engine wouldn't. Telescope views are now available with the Grog Toolbar, version 5.2. http://www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/waterloo-modifications/68686-expanded-toolbar-grog?limit=30&start=120#74231
This has been a popular request throughout the years, hopefully I did it justice with this design. Thanks for rattling this old cage Asid, you made this feature possible by just bringing it up. "

Zoom4X Note: The frosty outlines only appear in the screenshots, not in-game

Would be great to have an option to remove the UI for taking screenshots.
SOW Gettysburg has this option. Why they left it out here does not make sense.

If you click on an enemy flag before taking the screenshot, much of the UI disappears and makes is less obtrusive.

I normally do that. Maybe NSD will implement the "U" command? ::)

Better functionality of the in game map
These are a few ideas I have for making better use of the map.
Allow zoom
Allow the map to display units only visible to you.
Allow it to show just the units under your direct control. This could be an aid to making situational awareness easier.
Allow to mark/place notes on the map.
Perhaps allow the transmission of this marked information. It would be useful for planning before the battle. Maybe even sending it via courier to update location orders for friendly units. This however could fall into enemy hands!
Facing direction
On the he command map. Allow you to set a facing direction when using it to order units by clicking on it.
Last reported locations
Allow the map to show "last reported" locations of enemy and friendly units. This info would become useless over time as the units could have moved. More F.O.W.

Resume command
It would be great if we had a button that would resume our last orders. When you halt briefly for whatever reason, it would be great to press resume and have the last path/waypoints continue.
-
Restore game feature
It would be great if we could restore a multiplayer game easily after a crash. Especially if you are in a mp game which has an issue after a couple of hours :o
Other games have this built in.

Weather effects
Storms reducing visibility.
Mud slowing advances.
Dust clouds from marching troops visible from great distances.
Heat increasing fatigue etc

That would be great Longknife.

Time accelerate/decelerate indicator
There are 5 steps from normal speed to fastest. However there is no indication apart from things moving faster. How about a "+2,+3 etc."?
-
When. Couriers are intercepted, the team that intercepted should see the message. If the sender cannot 'see' the courier interception, he should get no notification.
-
That happens already, last time I played multiplayer I intercepted quite a few enemy couriers and saw their messages.
-
Lol, I guess I've never intercepted, good to know!
-
Having the ability to stop people disabling trees in multiplayer.
However there may be a solution coming for this.
