It was driving me crazy that my 5K super computer was still struggling with this. It became apparent that even though P3dv4 has improved the ESP platform greatly, it still does decade old things like slam one cpu core.
I had to use a 3rd party app to control where every process was running and on what cores. I then had to dedicate 4 cores just for P3d. It's basically an affinity mask but better because your setting everything that runs when you run P3D.
I went from 10 fps at EGLL to 25 to 30 fps with High settings using this. If I turn off AI, the FPS will shoot up to 40 FPS, but whats the fun in that, got to have my AIG running in all it's sim glory.
It's amazing to be able to fly an approach now with high settings at EGLL in the FSLABS A320 and have no slide show stutters.

The ORBX TE series takes A LOT of disc space :shocker
ORBX seem to be concentrating more on the XP platform of late....I remember when JV said they would never go to the XP platform because of the inadequacies of XP (something along those lines).
