Community Update v3 Live
Flight Sim World - DTG Cryss

We've just launched our next update to Flight Sim World, which is all about bringing the community together. Since launch you’ve had access to the Pro Mission Editor and we’re eager to see the content you’ve been creating for FSW.

Community Update v3 will bring Steam Workshop functionality into the simulator, allowing you to share your creations with your friends and the wider community.

Steam Workshop

•   Players can publish missions to Steam Workshop from the mission editor for others to play.
•   Players can browse for, subscribe to and play Steam Workshop missions created by others.

Even if you’re not interested in creating content, you’ll hopefully find some challenging missions to attempt. Whether you’re creating missions and want some feedback or want to give credit to a creator who pulled off something special then check our new Workshop sub-forum.

Engine

Next up is an update that even die-hard free flyers can enjoy, there’s an significant update to how the engine handles lighting:

•   Revision to light-scattering model.
•   Rebalancing terrain lighting across the scene and further reducing areas of high brightness

Admittedly it’s a little difficult to explain in bullet points, so we’ve got a few visual aids that show off what we’ve been getting up to.

Let us know what you think of the changes on your next flight.

Localization

•   Localisation fixes across the title.

We’re eager to see what you’ve been cooking up in the Pro Mission Editor. If you’re a trying to get to grips with it, then  check out this tutorial (https://youtu.be/xR55XjzRjuU) where Jason walks you through creating content for Flight Sim World.

Community Update 7 "Cold & Dark" Now Live

July has been pretty hectic in the office, with a string of exciting updates for simmers to sink their teeth into. Last week we introduced passengers to Flight Sim World, and this week we're bringing Cold/Dark starts into FSW.

The Cold/Dark updates features a checklist that highlights the levers, buttons and switches you need to press in order to start each aircraft in Flight Sim World. Experts can enable the advanced mode to remove any assistance, get themselves prepped up and then taxi onto the runway.

They'll be another exciting announcement next week, so try and keep your heads out of the clouds, but until then we've got a number of other changes so read on below:

Cold and Dark Feature
•   Start-up checklists across all launch aircraft to assist in Cold/Dark functionality
•   Toggle advanced mode to go through the checklist yourself. Uncheck advanced mode to be walked through the cold and dark start process with camera zoom and highlighted switches & gauges (ideal for new simmers)
•   You can now choose your spawn location in Free Flight (parking spaces, runways, etc)

KNOWN BUG: With the introduction of Cold and Dark, we have discovered an issue which affects the PA-46 and the DA40 checklists: If you have auto mixture disabled, you will not be able to start the engine in Assisted Mode.

To work around this issue, please make sure auto mixture is enabled in order to complete the Cold and Dark checklist in Assisted Mode. You can find the auto mixture switch in the Settings Menu under Realism. We'll provide a fix in a future update, thanks for understanding!

Aircraft

Avionics
•   KAP140, KFC225, KR87, KX155, GTX327 and KN62 units now have system start-up splash screens where applicable (or a typical display warmup period)
•   G1000- Annunciators added. Coolant and fuel temperature systems added.
•   GTX327 - Switches off the display of ‘VFR’ when the correct button pressed.
•   KX155 - Improvements to visibility.

PA-18 Supercub
•   Mag switch behavior corrected and tooltips added.
•   Primer behavior corrected. It now automatically retracts after a priming pump.

PA-34 Seneca

•   Inlet temperature gauges now accurate
•   Overhead switch text legibility improved

PA-28 Cherokee
•   Front wheel ground contact point improved.

Update 12 Now Live
Flight Sim World - DTG Cryss

It's an exciting update this week, with changes to some niggling issues that have been around for a while now.

Force Feedback
One of the larger ones is re-enabling force feedback. Which we initially disabled due to some users reporting issues where peripherals were causing crashes. This was due to legacy drivers conflicting with OS updates, and is unfortunately outside of our control.

Force feedback will be disabled upon start-up (to avoid incompatible joysticks from ending up in a start-up crash loop). So it will need to be re-enabled when you start FSW.

If you're using force feedback and experience a crash to desktop, then please send a DxDiag and the name of your Joystick to our support team at dovetailgames.kayako.com.

trueSky
•   Aligns windshield raindrop behavior with external weather

Aircraft

PA-28 Cherokee
•   Improved exterior glass appearance,
•   SSAO and transparency issues in external views are now resolved

PA-34 Seneca
•   Balanced volume of AP disconnect audio

Passengers
•   Additional pilot uniforms now available for male and female models

Workshop
•   Add flow to highlight when selected aircraft add-ons haven’t been installed

Frontend
•   You can now toggle and test force feedback compatibility

Peripheral Support
•   Logitech/Saitek Panels now compatible with Flight Sim World
•   Force feedback support re-enabled

Engine
•   CTDs seen in title shutdown now fixed

User Interface
•   New mission interface planned for update 11 has now been successfully integrated.

That's it for our the update this week, but don't forget to let us know if you've encountered any bugs in Flight Sim World.
