Title: Scourge of War: Waterloo battles in Tacview?
Post by: Vyrtuoz on January 24, 2017, 02:49:18 PM
This an answer to Asid request about supporting SoW in Tacview.

Following Asid’s request, I had a quick look at Scourge of War. They offer a SDK, which is good. However, it looks like the provided information in the SDK is limited to mission creation and probably cosmetic things like texturing. There is no documentation on how to read the recorded battles and the default terrains.

I already have a lot of work planned, therefore I do not think I will have the time so support SoW any time soon. For instance, if I add support for a new tactical/strategy game in 2017, this will probably be ARMA 3 which is more documented and more flexible than SoW.

However, because Tacview terrain and file formats are fully documented, you may find someone with enough programming skills who may be able to convert SoW files in Tacview file format. In that case, I will gladly guide you and answer your questions.

Now that would be cool!
