: SCENERY

 .:  New Scenery in WOFF UE some of the best looking flight simulator scenery environments ever created. New winter trees bring out the starkness of the winter landscape, each with its own realistic shadowing. Together with several "Snow" states and normal winter ground really adds to the atmosphere.

Artificial Intelligence : The superb WOFF WW1 AI opens up many possibilities!
 
Physics, Collisions and Artificial Intelligence : Thinking AI Pilots

  .:  The Aircraft Physics have been revised for Wings Over Flanders Fields:
 
All AI craft now use the same flight models and engine models as the player craft - they have no advantages, so they are flying the same complexity of flight model as the player. This includes ammo weights, wind forces and more.
 
Improved collisions for more immersion. All aircraft physics are more realistic than before especially when disintegrating or colliding with objects or the terrain including AI aircraft.
 
 
.:  Collisions have improved effects:
 
Scenery and Object collisions are now improved with differing effects depending on the speed of collision as well as the hardness of the object into which the aircraft is colliding.

 
.: With the Brand new AI code for Wings Over Flanders Fields the AI behaves more like a human pilot; his fears, skills, and mortality all play a much more important part: 
 
Each AI pilot has a complete set of key human-like abilities that determines how he behaves - Skill and Morale being the major components of this.
 
AI no longer simply fight to the death, they evaluate their surroundings for enemy and friendly craft alike and can change their behavior accordingly to these dynamic ever changing conditions as they carry out their missions.

Some of the dynamic conditions considered include ;
 
· Number of Friendly craft in their Flight and condition, altitude, speed, direction and ability of craft.
 
· Number of enemy craft in vicinity that have been seen and their condition, their ability, altitude, speed and direction, and even the type of the aircraft!
 
· Condition of the AI's own aircraft and his own health.
 
· Proximity to/distance over enemy front lines and which side is below him.
 
· If flying a 2-Seater without support morale may be lower, but enhanced if an escort is protecting the flight.
 
· Fatigue - each AI pilot can become fatigued over time in the grueling dog fights and their skill and morale becomes diminished over time as they get tired from the G forces (!) and effort to move the control stick - if too fatigued they well may break off the fight and attempt to recover or break for home.
 
Based on these criteria, and others, the AI is constantly evaluating whether to stay and fight or flee to home base or nearest friendly base, or simply to try to continue on and carry out the mission. Above all they try to preserve themselves and their machines, as any human would!
 

.:  New AI Vision - the AI constantly look around the skies as they fly, to try and see any enemy flights - they do not always succeed and they also cannot see through clouds and visibility distance is reduced in haze. Their skill rating also affects their vision acuity. This applies to pilots and observers/gunners. Thus it is possible to sneak up on unsuspecting aircraft crews.
 

.: WW1 Flying Skills - The AI pilot's skill rating affects the complexity of maneuvers he may know, as well as the AI pilots integrity when it comes to dog fighting over the battle scarred landscapes or bombing airfields and other targets. For example an Ace pilot will know more manoeuvrers than a veteran pilot and attempt them with more skill and vigor!
 

.: Trained AI -  AI are competent to fly WW1 aircraft and actually go through special training by us (yes they have the ability to be taught how to fly new aircraft!) to competently use the aircraft they are flying and can do everything from take-off, navigate, fight, land and much more. For example they have new low level flying and fighting abilities according to their skill levels, all the while constantly evaluating the environment.
 

.:  Ground Attack - New fantastic ground attack skills - the AI now co-ordinate attacks on ground targets and will break off at suitable moments depending on state of ammunition and or other threats to their safety!
 

.: Random Failures - AI Aircraft (as well as Player Aircraft) are subject to random mechanical or structural failure based on known traits and flaws of the machines they are flying at the specific time. AI try to control their aircraft and emergency land or try their best to survive a crash landing.
 

.:  New Landing Abilities  - A virtual and hidden Airfield landing controller helps to ensure correct flight and machine behaviour when landing at home or nearby fields for multiple and or large squadron flights - this means AI can understand complex airfield situations with multiple craft and flights landing on the same field. They also can attempt to ditch or crash land a damaged aircraft.
 

.:   Allow you the Pilot to Exercise control - over the AI pilots in your flight, provided you have sufficient rank, with commands such as Attack, Return to Base, Rejoin, Land here etc.

A Real Immersive Dynamic Campaign for World War one air combat.

Campaign Features

.: WOFF is primarily geared towards a real-time, fully immersive single player dynamic campaign system, designed to immerse the player in as realistic a world as possible, and to recreate as closely as possible the first world war, in a 'living world' about them.  The WOFF interface also manages all aspects of the dynamic campaign and can take full advantage of WOFF AI and new features.

.:  Enlist in an immersive dynamic campaign as a WW1 pilot in one of four Nations; Britain, France, USA or Germany.

.:  Career dates range from early 1915 through to the completion of the war with up to 55 aircraft types available in the release version with more to come as add-on packs later. See the aircraft section for more details.

.:  Choose from one of many historical squadrons to enlist in - all available in the main WOFF 1 release version:
            Britain: 42 Fighter squadrons ; 27  2-Seater Squadrons 
            Germany: 80 Fighter squadrons ; 101  2-Seater Squadrons
            France: 79 Fighter squadrons ; 24  2-Seater Squadrons
            USA: 14 Fighter squadrons
 
Many squadron specific skins are included so that you fly with the correct squadron insignia and markings for the chosen squadron. Note: Some squadron aircraft are not currently available but we will be releasing more craft as add-on packs

.:  When choosing a Squadron you are shown where the squadron is based relative to the front-lines,  as well as the Squadron Craft Complement, Ace complement, Morale, Activities etc so that you can easily launch yourself into a squadron that suits you and your virtual flying needs. Once in a squadron you can also use the Intelligence room check what the surrounding squadrons (enemy and friend) are.

Or you can auto-enlist and be assigned automatically to a squadron, electing optionally to undergo training at a home field first.

.:  Fully interactive Pilot log books keep track of up to 100 virtual pilots that you may enlist at any given time. The Log Book reflects Pilot Biography, user selected Photograph and accurately tracks the flyers Flights and Hours, Claims and Victories, Awards, and General Squadron Details such as location, craft upgrades, transfers etc.

.:  Complete your training with your trainer at a historically accurate location to get the required flying hours and move on to the action in your chosen squad, or just join the fray as an experienced Flyer.

.: Fly and survive - file claims for your kills (optional configuration settings allows kills to be awarded immediately) and climb the ranks and receive aircraft upgrades over time as the squadron historically did.
Your missions are largely tailored to the historical mission types that the squadron flew during WW1.

.: Lead your flight or be lead - depending on your rank (or optionally you can always lead your flight) as a leader you can control your flight with key commands and lead them to destiny.

.:  With over 1000 targets of opportunity for any of the 12 frontline states (see scenery for more details) - fly and defend your nation in one of histories most bloody wars. (In effect over 12000 targets for the war)

.:  Mixed flight complements: Fly with the Aces (many with their correct historically accurate skins and assigned to their historical squadron machines), and also fly in multiple mixed aircraft type flights!

.:  Select your own personal skin (Players may create additional personal skins in their favourite paint program and use them).

.:  Equip your flight and your personal aircraft load outs, from flight loads to individual pilot loads in your flight.

.:  File requests for a Transfer to another squadron at any time. This may or may not be approved depending on your rating and the rating of the squadron you have requested to transfer to - it also takes time for approval.(Or select the configuration setting option for instantaneous transfer - no approval required and you transfer immediately!)

.:  Squad dynamics change constantly over time with painstakingly accurate and detailed data research, for each and every squadron, to reflect the changing Craft Allocations, Airfield Locations, Ace Complements, Morale, Skill, Material and Manpower Issues, Current Role (defines squadron's historically accurate activities at that moment in time) and Frequency of Operations, to name a few.

.:  Fly in a dynamic world with no artificial 'air spawns' - up to 250 aircraft are dynamically assigned to fly from real squadron bases on real squadron operations based on the squadrons historical detail data for that moment in time. If you deviate from your flight path beware: there is a war on, and you will run into these squads and ground units - for good or bad - together with active ground units.
Flights are sometimes waiting on the ground at fields to takeoff or are 'scrambled for takeoff and interception, based on in-coming AI craft approach or the players approach - a true 'living world'.

.:  Protect your men and material - excessive losses can eventually lead to your squadron
becoming grounded whilst you wait for your replacement pilots, aircraft or repairs.

.:  Visit the stores room to evaluate aircraft stock and aircraft repairs status

.:  Visit the 'Intelligence' room to get the latest on the war or evaluate nearby enemy squadrons that you are likely to encounter over the front lines! It is here that you can apply for Transfers as you evaluate possible squadrons to transfer to.

.:  Ground activity reflects the major battles as and when they raged along the frontlines for the duration of the war.

.:  A master 'Order of Battle' system controls the air and ground activity in each of 4 sectors - Flanders, Marne, Verdun and Alsace to reflect the dynamics of the air and ground war.

.:  Accurate tracking of all player squadron pilots, including the players A and B flight members, in runtime, for accurate post mission results and tallies. Each of the AI pilots in your squad have logbooks which you can peruse to evaluate their progression strengths, weaknesses, claims and kills, and even view their medals.

.:  Dynamically moving front lines modeled in 12 states follow the historical battle actions of the western front as accurately as possible from 1915 to 1918.

.:  Many historical Landmarks that become permanently damaged when they did historically.

.:  Fly with either dynamically changing weather or historically accurate weather - bad weather will see all air ops grounded. Other features include windscreens that are affected by weather (frosty, rainy, etc.).

.:  Pre Flight briefing interface shows details of the intended operation, waypoints, and target on an interactive map so that you are fully aware of what you have to do.

New features in WOFF UE in more detail

1) Two new 2-seater aircraft Breguet 14 A.2 and the Caudon G.4.  Both important French craft

2)  New 3D Direct X Shaders for superb visuals in sim, with improved FPS, especially at airfields and self shadowing and more:
  - much improved rendering of shadows on aircraft and objects.
    Also now shadows will now remain visible from parts that are no longer in view.

  - new feature: dynamic ground shadows, fully replacing stock shadows with new much improved
    and faster shader versions.
New performance from WOFF core engine too, combined with the new shaders and other optimisations gives a dramtic increase in FPS.  This alone is a major point!

3) Fully revised French squadrons to bring the French campaigns in the Champagne regions of Marne and Verdun to life as never before.    Extra French airfields in Marne, Verdun and Alsace sectors

4)  Now Widescreen compatible - 3440 x 1440 etc to allow users to take full advantage of the new  ultra widescreen monitors hitting the market.

5) Revised DM for all aircraft (Cockpit damage revised, aircraft will show damage more often, with more varied break ups, other miscellaneous improvements).

6) Implemented bomb loadout options and a detailed bomb rack model for the Roland aircraft.

7) Improved aircraft type deployment at Airfields by Nation: Bombers, Fighters and Specific fields. 

8) Improved airfield facility scaling over the years as well as changing tree types depending on location of airfield

9) Revised and improved lighting systems at airfields eg hangar lights etc  All lights now work irrespective of craft taking off, or not, at  that field.  Come home to lights on at your field at late dusk, night or early morning!

10) Added smoke and lights to factory facilities.

11) Added 11 detailed 'Specific Airfields' rendered as closely as possible as they historically were. These fields are fuilly rendered for all season types :

15) Earlier operation start times should realise more dawn Patrols, when you can see the dawn and camp lighting for immersive moments, feel the dawn of a new day!

17) Ability to suppress/turn off precipitation effects (rain and snow) in workshops. (Flights are still cancelled on inclement days and weather is still fully variable, there is simply no rain or snow effects in flight).
18) Airfield bumpiness now changes with weather and season  conditions

19) Craft wheel rolling sounds now change with weather and season conditions

20) Ability to allow 3rd party mission editors to modify the campaign mission just prior to runtime.

21) Improved dynamic ground bumps on fields.

22) Improved airfield night time Drum lamps.

23) Includes new RNAS squads for Caudrons.

24) Revised Damage rules to lessen craft instant destruction. 

25) Updated graphical  content for user interface.

I had trouble getting it to run on my Win 8.1 machine. I ended up using Win7. They have excellent support. Maybe you should look at their forums and do a bit of reading about Win 10.

Well I got it installed & working & even managed to bring down a couple of Spads on a quick combat.

I had some trouble with the install initially. Ended up reinstalling it 3 times before I got everything working. I am tired & a little hung over though so thats my excuse LOL

If I had RTFM 1st wouldnt have had a single problem. On my last install I actually did read it & discovered that I had not installed DX9 & it was causing the game to crash when I clicked on fly.

I have obviously barely scratched the surface on this sim but I can tell I am going to have a great deal of fun with this! As Stardog said its all about the immersion & this sim has it in spades! I love the UI, its very nostalgic & really does a great job of putting you in a period mindset.

So far I really dont have any cons to say about it. The graphics arent up to say RoF standards but that is to be expected. They are still very nice & do a great job of "putting you there". I will have to say its harder then RoF to shoot down planes. For me anyway. The tracers arent as obvious so harder to see & I havent completely figured out where to aim yet. My solution on the 2 Spads was to get CLOSE! From what I can tell of the AARs it seems like bringing planes down is easier then RoF at least insofar as number of hits (both planes took less than 20hits but I expended around 150rds to get those 20 hits). It seems like I get ALLOT of hits on RoF planes before they come down.

Anyway I am delighted with it & looking forward to digging into it! I will start posting screen shots etc once I get my key bindings figured out & get more comfortable in the sim.

Note on installing this patch and running WOFF UE for the first time, the viewui.xml will be set to default (this controls F5 dials view and other view settings).
However if you then move the position of your dials in F5 view etc, the settings will be retained from then on.

LongKnife,  Has this been working for you with Windows 10?  I've had a serious and expensive problem with Windows 10 and am now very leery of buying programs that take a computer scientist to function.

It works fine most of the time. Every time I start it the 1st mission fails to load. It just get stuck while loading. If you click on the screen you get the prompt to close program. Doing so only closes the flight. The UI is still running & if I retry the flight it works fine the 2nd go.

One word of warning. RTFM! I didnt had had allot of troubles initially. Once I installed DX9 (it needs it) it ran fine.

Introduction

For the better part of the last decade, Over Flanders Fields has represented one of only a few First World War flight simulations. Within a shrinking market for flight simulations, titles featuring aircraft with eccentric names like Sopwith, Fokker, and Pfalz represent a niche within a niche. Over Flanders Fields, or OFF, began as a third-party mod for Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 3. The World War II themed venture was the last combat sim from Microsoft's studio and it received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. While CFS3 received some third-party support, it was OBD software, and their First World War mod for the sim, that capitalized on a unique opportunity to build not just a World War I sim, but the most fully realized and feature complete recreation of the conflict ever made.

Old Brown Dog Software is the brainchild of Mark "Winding Man" Andrews, who founded OBD in the early 1990s as a company selling audio transformers for valve amplifiers. Andrews had been interested in the First World War for years and discovered the flight sim genre with classic games like Dawn Patrol. Mark recognized the opportunity that the CFS3 engine presented and began working on modding the sim for the First World War. Eventually, he met Mark "Polovski" Rogers and, with the addition of other team members, the project continued to expand.

OBD initially released Over Flanders Fields in phases to give players a sample of the team's capabilities, while also getting a product out as quickly as possible. The first two phases were free to the public, with Phase 3 becoming a commercial venture in order to support the small studio's efforts in expanding the sim. OFF then moved from phased releases to full-fledged titles - OFF: Between Heaven and Hell, OFF: Hat in the Ring (a homage to the famous American 94th Pursuit Squadron), and then Wings Over Flanders Fields, the title change reflected the complete overhaul of the sim. Each successive release improved upon the game's core dynamics: graphical fidelity, immersive design, and most importantly, a dynamic campaign that created a compelling theatre for players to take part in.

Now, OBD's team of designers, developers, and programmers have reached a benchmark they conceived of years ago, and have marked the occasion by releasing what they consider the "Ultimate Edition" of their ultimate First World War flight simulator.

Before I continue, some authorial disclosure: I've been a fan of First World War flight sims since I discovered Wings of Glory in a computer magazine over twenty years ago. I've loved the genre ever since and I've played just about every title released in the last two and a half decades; from F117A Stealth Fighter, Falcon 4.0, Strike Fighters, and DCS to World War II sims like European Air War and IL-2 1946.

Press right button again to disable the mouse look/zoom and use as a normal mouse pointer.  If you have Naturalpoint’s TrackIR or other headtracking you can still use the zoom function as above, simply look around using TrackIR without moving the mouse, then right mouse click to  use the wheel on the mouse only to zoom in and out. 

The D3D8.ini file in … \WOFF\WOFFScenery\Shaders   directory will be updated with new settings as shown below . You can also change the behaviour or disable the mouse look completely by editing that file in a text editor (make a backup first). Note their default values will be applied if a setting is missing.

Contents and Improvements WOFF UE V4.22

1) QC - Fixed an issue with the mouse pointer mode over the enemy skin selection pull-down menu
2) QC - Player position in flight now has two modes - based on workshop selection - by Rank and Always Leads The leader at the head of the squad is often more likely to be targeted by AI, setting this to based on rank can sometimes allow you to be just another flight member rather than at the head of the flight, and be less targeted.
3) Campaign Dialogue interface imagery now looks neater with the scrollable outcomes window
4) Fixed an issue with the AI Balloon kill reporting (it was reported on number of Air kills instead of Balloon kills)
5) Because the Player can in some instances no longer issue attack commands in QC (as he is not leader) the AI now carry out the QC Mission Objectives automatically.
6) A limit of a maximum of two aircraft will attack the same target (Ground or Air).
7) Revised LePrieur Rocket effects.
8) Improved AI Balloon Attack capabilities.
9) Improved Searchlight function.
10) Fixed an issue in QC where bombers would only bomb if player selected the default campaign Bombing Payload (1) - Now selection of any payload with bombs instructs the AI to Bomb (Friendly or Enemy)
11) Gothas will now use more bombs on each bombing pass (was single drops)
12) Corrected the aircraft database: changed the BE2c HD (Home Defence) version to correctly reflect that it has a fixed gun.
13) Fixed an issue whereby A-Flight when assisting would sometimes be directed to attack the Target irrespective of what the mission directive was or whether the Target was friendly or not (AI will never attack friendly targets so they simply ignored the mission directive).
14) Players flying Gothas will now only attack England on the correct historical dates.
15) Implemented Aircraft start-up sounds for all AI aircraft at code level and with 21 associated unique engine start-up sounds matching the aircraft engine types.
16) Headshake can now be controlled via workshops - severity and on/off.

29) Form up at action directives is no longer circular - the aircraft will form up in transit to next way-point.          Note: form up at non action directives or after action whilst in transit may still be circular!
30) Reduced kills and flying hours of incoming replacement pilots. Refined this some more - incoming pilots are now pretty poor unless squad is Elite or Good and a fighter squad then they will sometimes have kills. Elite Bomber squads may sometimes have a pilot coming in with 1 kill
31) Time Advance summary now includes Rank and Name of pilots killed and or wounded in sorties.
32) Addressed an issue that sometimes caused incorrect destroyed aircraft accounting.
33) Incorporated the new Fokker D.VI Aircraft and associated squadrons for full campaign play.  Also Jasta 80b skin, and one Jasta 80b ace skin.

This DLC Upgrades WOFF UE* with superb new features to ramp up the immersion factor for immersion plus!

“WOFF PE” is a NEW EXPANSION for Wings Over Flanders Fields Ultimate Edition  (WOFF UE).  You need to own WOFF UE.

The immersion bar is raised higher, with its specially crafted improvements to add more excitement, more in depth campaigns and immersive encounters.  It adds well over 40 improvements and features to the base WW1 simulator WOFF UE (which is required).

Highlights include extensive campaign changes to allow more involvement of the player in the action - superb improved scenery looks better than ever, campaign interface improvements and much more. 

Of the 80+ aircraft in WOFF there are around 60 fighters.  We have upgraded these fighter cockpits with new animated guns and other visual improvements.   Sometimes when jammed you will see the gun levers sometimes trying to move and you can attempt to unjam and watch the levers unlock if successful. WOFF PE will upgrade an install of WOFF UE. Always check if there is a WOFF PE update patch after installing PE.

WOFF PE contains these NEW features and changes. Contents and Improvements WOFF Platinum Edition V5.00

1) Revised Terrain Tiles and Scenery object textures - all seasons. A large undertaking as we have 12 front lines states for various parts of the war, plus each of those has several "seasons"!
2) Improved Terrain Blending.
3) Improved Scenery objects density and draw distance and reduced haze for greater distance visibility.
4) Revised Sound system volume mix levels and improved many sounds.
5) Ground based MGs now no longer have tracers.
6) Increased gun/artillery fire along the frontlines - changes from day to day - more battles can now be seen in action.
7) Player can now restart engine after landing/end of mission and game physics is no longer halted - eg trucks no longer stop moving etc - Note player may now be attacked when landed in good health.
8) Revised damaged and ruined scenery building and frontlines object models.
9) If player now tries to start engine with low fuel or a damaged engine the instructor states it and engine start is not attempted.
10) Now quiting a mission over enemy lines or when forced down in ememy territory, the aircraft is 'captured' and is accounted for as a lost machine even if the player escapes and returns to duty.
11) Improved aircraft accounting systems.
12) Outcomes system now specifies the airfield that each individual squadron member landed at, including player, as opposed to the current formation squad landing destination specified.
13) Outcomes system now specifies if the aircraft was over (or forced down on ground) in enemy territory or friendly territory when mission ends.
14) QC Fuel and Ammo selections are now persistent mission to mission when player remains in QC.
15) AI captivity (and loss of aircraft) is now no longer a die roll but is determined by AI Pilot health, AI Aircraft health, AI Remaining fuel, and AI Distance Behind Enemy Lines. at the time the mission ends - these are used to reasonably determine whether the AI pilot makes it home or not.
16) If the Player quits the mission whilst in/over enemy territory or is forced down in enemy territory the distance Behind Enemy Lines is now reported.
17) Operations (Air Activity) radii for Local and Regional Squadrons (Living World) are now displayed on the briefing map - they vary with workshops regional air activity settings, with player location, and types of operations/craft assignment (These are not changed from WOFFUE - just the rings display is added). Note these rings dictate which squads are 'active/available' to put up flights and is NOT the limit of these squads flight paths. The rings simply dictate which squads in the theatre may fly - thus it is possible that flights paths can then exceed the raddii of the rings if the specific squadrons target/directives selected during mission creation determine such (OOB system specific)! The percentage of squads within the two radii that fly is dictated again by the workshops regional air activity setting - its used for the two functions. Targets/Directives for the squads 'activated' by the Local and Regional radii (Search Functionality): Fighters: Fighter Squads generally obey their typical target range allowance as dictated by the squadron database (in Teds Squad file) - limited to a max of 70 miles. However if they cannot find a target within that range for their given mission directive (one must understand we have a finite number of targets in any given area) the range allowance is increased incrementally by 5 miles until they do find one. If they dont find one they simply use the last one found. Note: at no stage do we abort the squads mission (cull the flight) - they will fly - this is important especially in sparsely populated areas (squads and targets) and early years to keep air activity going. 2 Seaters: 2 Seater Squads generally obey their typical target range allowance as dictated by the squadron database - limited to a max of 70 miles. However if they cannot find a target within that range for their given mission directive (one must understand we have a finite number of targets in any given area) the range allowance is increased incrementally by 25 miles until they do find one. If they dont find one they simply use the last one found. Note: at no stage do we abort the squads mission (cull the flight) - they will fly - this is important especially in sparsely populated areas (squads and targets) and early years to keep air activity going. Heavies: Heavy Bomber Squads generally obey their typical target range allowance as dictated by the squadron database - and basically have no limit apart from their operational range - as they are long range bombers If they dont find one in range (seldom happens with Heavies) they simply use the last one found (this could be improved) Typically these squads will be flying long routes. Note: at no stage do we abort the squads mission (cull the flight) - they will fly - this is important especially in sparsely populated areas (squads and targets) and early years to keep air activity going. This is all part of the OBD Living World system that is SPECIFICALLY designed to avoid only having activity along the players prescribed mission path - as most other campaign systems do - and to create a world that is alive wherever the player might end up going.
18) Centres of the Local and Regional Air Activity Radii is now the nearest frontline sector to the player - where applicable. (Note does not apply to England Germany and or Heavy Bomber squads) - as opposed to always being the players airfield.
19) Frontline patrols now take place along two points on the actual frontline positions whenever possible.
20) Implemented the ability to move/edit waypoints in the mission briefing screen, so that players can setup mission routes as desired.
21) Selecting 'Airstart' now specifies where you will start, and the waypoint lines up to Waypoint 1 or the specific start waypoint are removed.
22) The approximate distance that the players airfield is from the nearest frontlines is now reported in campaign intro as well as on the small airfield location map (BFL Behind Friendly Lines) top of main campaign GUI.
23) 'Reconnaissance' craft will now also carry out bombing runs if they can carry bombs.
24) Scramble and Escort Missions are now allowed with Historical Mission Types set on in Workshops - even if squad did not carry out the role historically - for improved variation in campaign play.
25) Mission Briefing screen map now includes miscellaneous waypoints that were deemed non critical and thus not displayed (UE Map only displayed critical waypoints and objectives) these are: Altitude Up (friendly side of lines near airfield), Altitude Down (Ground Attack missions near target) and Patrol an Area (Escort Patrol Reccy craft that must note troop and or fall of shot over an area). They are now included to allow the player to adjust them along with the main waypoints see 20)
26) Implemented Gun Lever animations for ALL fighter aircraft - they animate when fired, jammed, and when unjamming the guns. Bullet belts also move. Vickers and Spandau are brand new models with others upgraded.
27) Revised aircraft effects: 'on fire', 'smoke', 'fuel leak', 'oil leak' etc
28) Incorporated Revised and Additional Squadrons with additional aircraft allocations and airfields for WOFF Platinum : Total Squadrons incorporated are now: British(90) French(184) and German(203) Squadrons. New aircraft coming in 2020.
29) Incorporated 3rd party weather and news files.
30) Updated all 12 Global layers 1914, 1915, 1916, 1916+6, 1917, 1917+6, 1918, 1918+2, 1918+4, 1918+6, 1918+9, 1918+11 to incorporate the additional airfields required by the Squadron Update.
31) Both Player and Regional flight target selection criteria are now more tightly bound to the region of operations (Air Activity) radii.
32) Added improved search criteria for the enemy flights that the player may face whilst on his mission as well as increased variety.
33) Revised search criteria for obtaining local Fighter Squadrons - improving campaign immersion.
34) Revised the Slot/Rank Breakpoints and optimised for each Nation to allow better allocation of the 3 Aircraft slots by Rank.
35) Implemented the ability to switch the Wingman on or off in workshops - default is off - Note if a players pilot has a wingman, and the workshop setting is toggled off and then later put back on - the last assigned Wingman is not remembered/stored even if he is still alive in the squad.
36) Implemented the ability to fly Lone Wolf missions at will from campaign interface via a new button in the button bar if player is in a Fighter, and located in either Flanders, Marne, Verdun, or Alsace and the campaign year is prior to 1917. He must have flown at least 5 missions. Lone Wolf missions will still be randomly assigned as well.
37) Implemented the ability to adjust Lone Wolf mission waypoints in the mission briefing screen.
38) Implemented progressive damage modelling on the Player Fuel Tank systems together with a 'Fuel is leaking - FIRE risk' TACS message prompt and a persistent fuel leak effect (moving and static). If the player leaves his engine running whilst fuel is leaking then slowly and randomly the fuel leak gets progressively worse and a fire and death can result. Players should be vigilant of fuel leaks and kill the engine and land ASAP.
39) Implemented Pilot progressive health deterioration if wounds are severe (Progressive DM).
40) Implemented better visual effects for the player aircraft for coolant (non rotary craft) and oil system leaks/damage together with progressive damage functionality - and implemented message prompts on the TAC. (Progressive DM)
41) Implemented progressive damage modelling on all AI craft to match players new progressive DM.
42) Cloud edge clipping in cockpit view now eliminated.
43) Scrambles missions now have revised waypoint structure to ensure the AI pilots more readily engage the enemy.
44) Fighter cockpits have new guns, and many have other visual improvements.

NEW PATCHES CONTAIN ALL PREVIOUS UPDATES - WOFF PE also already contains ALL the patches we previously released for WOFF Ultimate Edition, so if you have WOFF PE installed, and this latest update you are fully up to date!

So you only need the latest WOFF PE patch on top of WOFF PE  install, to be fully up to date!

4) Fixed an issue that prevented training campaigns from working correctly.

Contents and Improvements WOFF Platinum V5.01;

1) Improved compatibility with international OS versions (Non English).

2) Fixed a Formup Warning: on Altitude Up waypoints for delayed fighter flights.

3) Fixed/improved some Gun Animations in various aircraft, added Strutter B1 fighter,
plus some 2 seaters, Strutter A2, DH4, Roland CII, Bristol F2B (all these 2 seaters are front Vickers animated only).

4) Now when player has force landed in a field etc - the 'Engine cannot start here' message is displayed on TAC if player tries to restart the engine.

5) Revised aircraft 'death physics'. This changes the behaviour when an aircraft is effectively 'dead'. Some will fly on for longer before going down and so on, this will also allow the progressive damage to do its job.

we have continued developing the next version of WOFF finally now it has a new name:        Wings Over Flanders Fields      Between Heaven & Hell II A tip of the hat to a prior version some players will remember.

Note this only shows a small percentage of the new features - many others not seen are fantastic under the hood AI, campaign, other new features and changes.

Apart from the obvious new graphic content such as the new complex pilot head movements, new goggles effects and so on, it shows completely revised scenery/terrain in all seasons, new towns and villages and new layouts, shows one of the many new A.I. features (for example here formation flying with the AI in the wind to trying to hold formation) the newly updated SE5a, updated Be2 series, new inline engine animations external and internal, new improved blurred rotary engines etc, also shown is new crash landing abilities due to the new damageable gear...

BH&H2 is still in development but we are getting closer to the end!
