Vid on the Dutch KNRM, SAR team with fast responce craft

These are the smaller craft for small ships, search and rescue and medevac. These do salvage and rescue aswell for the small yachts. For the big merchants its medevac and search for survivers.

I've been in these size waves on 5bf with my own boat more south on the north sea. You see the waves here are blown appart. Normaly the period is much shorter on the north sea, as was the case my time. (This is btw why nearly everyone gets seasick on the north sea) Now my own boat displaces/weights 12 metric tonnes. That thing falling of a wave falls. A bit quicker than me. As I usualy do the hoisting of the sails I go to the mast with 2 lifelines attached to me. This so I that I'm always connected to the boat. I had it happen to me that due to a wave I was on the end of my lifeline flying 2.5m meters above deck. Lesson here: ALWAYS bend your knees! If I did not I would have lost my kneecaps.
