About

Strategic Mind: The Pacific is a turn-based strategy set in the WW2 period depicting the war between the USA and the Empire of Japan waged in the Pacific Ocean with mindblowing historical accuracy and attention to detail.

It offers an immersive experience of commanding both sides of the conflict, allowing you to gain a unique understanding of the situation through the eyes of both sides top commanders, resulting in enjoyable and insightful gameplay.

Build up, train and equip your troops with the newest weaponry available to maximize their efficiency and set sail for victory. The core element of the game is large scale naval battles with numerous carrier ships bringing so much more aircraft into the battle for seizing the control over the ocean. Upon overtaking the sea you will have to set foot on hostile land through a series of costly landing operations.

You will have to make your naval, aerial and amphibious forces act as one flawless mechanism - a task only a truly strategic mind can achieve.

Key features:

•   Play both sides of the conflict to gain unique insight into the epochal events of the War in the Pacific: the United States of America defending both its global power and its ideals; and the Empire of Japan fighting for their right to take the future of our world into its hands.

•   You can decide which ships, submarines and aircraft will constitute the bulk of your force. Manage your fleet between missions with all models becoming available at the historically accurate moments.

•   Unique system of attachments allows customizing your units with additional equipment to increase their efficiency and weave them perfectly into the strategy of your own division.

•   Oversee your units becoming more experienced combatants throughout the campaign and choose which skills they should focus on to better suit your strategy.

•   Detailed system of naval battles allows you to damage various ship systems, such as all sorts of armament, hull, engine, flight deck etc. For instance, damaging enemy ship`s engine will reduce its speed and thus all of its defenses making it easy prey for the rest of your flotilla.

•   Choose which of the commander skills will better suit your strategy and employ them at the right moments to turn the tide of battle.

•   Modern graphics combined with historically accurate models of all units make the playing experience much more immersive than ever before.

•   Employ the heroes forged by the furnace of war for the most difficult tasks to ensure the success of the operation.

•   Witness the events unfold through the plot driven cutscenes.

•   Intricate combat mechanics allow you to show the full extent of your tactical and strategic superiority.

•   No “premade DLC nonsense” and long-term support. You gain access to the two full campaigns when you buy the game with all the features. We are likely to make some additional content in the future, but we offer you the full game you can play without worrying about the need to buy any crucial DLCs. The game will be supported long-term in any case.

How day and night sequence will work in the Strategic Mind: the Pacific
16 JANUARY - DAIZOR

We are implementing day/night cycle in the game and would like to shed some light on this matter. Please, bear in mind that this feature is in the early stages of development and is subject to future changes throughout the testing process.

As for now: there is a recurring 3 turn cycle (2 turns day, 1 turn night). So each third turn will be a night turn. Night puts some penalties for both sides.

•   For land units: penalty to all attacks, severe spotting range reduction.
•   For air units: severe attack penalty, severe spotting range reduction.

Before you begin to worry about your troops coping with such unfavourable conditions, you should know that there will be ways to tackle these penalties to a certain degree. A system of special equipment and skill for aviation should give your units an edge versus equally disoriented units of your opponent.

Terrain types in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
21 January - Daizor

Most of the time your fleet would be in the Ocean waging naval and aerial battles. However, numerous landing operations like the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa will require your troops to advance through land. The best place to land is Clear terrain.

However, oftentimes you would have to land in the Shallows - which hinders your advance and makes your troops an easy target.

Upon overtaking coastal area you will proceed to fight in Forest terrain which provides good hiding places as well as better defensive capabilities but hinders your onslaught.

Mountains are the best place to build an impenetrable defence. Rough terrain is difficult both to attack and to move into.

It is best to avoid moving your troops through Swamp and Fields, especially your wheeled units. There are following types of land units movement in the game: on foot, wheeled, half-tracked, tracked, towed etc. It is important to understand the pros and cons of each type and to provide them with sound tactical command.

Small rivers run between hexes and make attacking across them an unfavourable endeavour, unless your troops have a clear advantage. A bridge would allow your troop to cross the river without reducing the tempo of your advance.

In future updates we will provide you with more info on City hexes and infrastructure as well as other aspects of the game.

Carrier ships in Strategic Mind: The Pacific

As you may already know Strategic Mind: The Pacific will have mobile floating airfields - carrier ships.

They can take up to 5 aircraft units on board depending on their class. Thus carriers have by far the biggest reach: they can attack as far as their planes could fly and return safely.

Keeping your carriers at a safe distance to continue attacking from afar, and in turn, locating the positions of the enemy carriers is the key to winning major naval battles.

Carriers are also a valuable asset during landing operations: providing air support to your land troops is the task of great importance.

Carriers are both deadly and vulnerable, which makes them a top priority target for the enemy forces. Be warned that the enemy will try to locate and destroy your carrier ships by any means.

Thus you should take great care in safeguarding them with your escort ships and other naval forces. Carriers were a novelty at the time and not all of naval officers realised the full extent of their power.

You will have a chance to unleash the full potential of carrier forces upon your enemy and prove your strategic superiority.

Add the game to your wishlist to stay updated :)

Carrier-based aircraft in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
5 Feb - Daizor

We have various types of aviation in the upcoming Strategic Mind: The Pacific. Today, we will tell you more about carrier-based aircraft.

Only aircraft of certain specifically designed models could successfully land and take off from an Aircraft carrier thus being invaluable assets in naval warfare.

On the picture, you can see USA carrier-based planes of 3 different types: fighters(1), dive bombers(2) and torpedo bombers(3).

Fighters can effectively fight off the enemy aviation and protect both allied ships and bombers.

Dive bombers are better at precise bombing, but have troubles carrying torpedoes (some models could and some could not).

On the contrary, torpedo bombers were modified to carry out successful torpedo attacks but were vulnerable to the enemy fighters during the attack.

Thus dive bombers will have more options of various bombs to carry and limited choice of torpedoes, while torpedo bombers have a better choice of torpedoes.

Also, dive bombers can attack exact ship part of their choice, while torpedo bombers have fewer penalties from carrying cumbersome torpedoes.

Meet Clemson-class destroyer in Strategic Mind: The Pacific. The Clemson-class ships were commissioned by the United States Navy from 1919 to 1922.

Until the Fletcher-class destroyer, the Clemsons were the most numerous class of destroyers commissioned in the United States Navy and were known colloquially as "flush-deckers", "four-stackers" or "four-pipers".

In 1944, the ship was converted into a high-speed transport and transferred to the Pacific taking part in several invasions.

Strategic Mind: The Pacific early access moved to April 30
20 FEB - DAIZOR

The reason for the delay is that we decided to present you with a more polished and ready-to-play version of the game, and we need a little bit more time to test everything out and fix all arising problems.

We want the early access version to be a good representation of what awaits you in the full version of the game (apart from cut scenes, which we cannot add at this point, unfortunately). Thus, we put lots of effort to start Early access with decent quality and then plan to gradually improve on it until the full release.

We are sorry to move the start of the Early access date and hope for your understanding. Our aim is to make the game more enjoyable for all of you in the first place. It is in our best interest to release early access as soon as possible, but the quality of the game (even in the early access phase) is our top priority, so we work hard to make it happen and expect 30 April to be the final date.

We will continue to post regular updates on the different aspects of the game and its mechanics to keep you up to date. In the next update, we will tell you about the difference between Early access and Full release in more detail.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
21 Feb - Daizor

We want to keep you informed about how our work progresses. So, here is the table representing the comparison of our expectations for the Early access version (at launch, April 30) and the Full release version of the game.

see table here (https://steamcommunity.com/games/991810/announcements/detail/1759123375923335655)

Let us go over the main points and provide you with more detail.

As many of you could have guessed, cutscenes require lots of effort. We have already done the script and other preliminary work, however, there are still much to do in this regard. So we do not expect them to be ready before the full release.

The similar situation exists regarding the voice acting. We have to finalise all the lines before making and implementing voice acting.

All units and rewards for Early access are already in the game. As well as most of the skills.

HQ skills, equipment and icons are work in progress.

Core mechanics are ready, but require additional testing and polishing both before and after the beginning of Early access stage.
Day/night and rain features are now being tested.

We plan to add heroes after the beginning of Early access as the work progresses and we deal with more crucial elements of the game.

We hope that this portion of content will help you understand what to expect from the Full version of the game (apart from cutscenes). And, on the other hand, your feedback would help us make the Full version even better.

We want our development process to be as transparent as possible without spoiling too much of the actual game. We want you to be informed about our work, but at the same time keep some surprises in store for the time when you will finally be able to launch the game.

What would be a more difficult time to attack than in the middle of the night? That would be in the middle of the rainy night.

We have already told you about the day/night sequence in one of our previous reports. However, today we bring you a short video of combinations of day, night and rainy weather.

Both night and rain have their effects on your troops. So, when you bring them together it truly becomes one hell of a night. Your troops would be lucky to even locate the enemy forces.

Despite the difficulties, you have to understand that the enemy troops have the same problems, and if you diminish the degree to which night affects your forces, you would be able to gain an edge.

Here it comes, the majestic USA Navy:

AIRCRAFT CARRIERS
Carriers: Yorktown-class and Essex-class
Aircraft carriers were the key to winning major naval battles at the time. Their ability to facilitate large scale aerial attacks from afar made them top priority targets on the battlefield.

CAPITAL SHIPS
Battleships: Colorado-class and USS Iowa-class
Heavy cruisers: USS Northampton and USS Baltimore
Capital ships embodied devastating artillery firepower. However, they were susceptible to torpedo attacks. Losing even one such a powerful vessel was a heavy blow to the entire flotilla.

ESCORT SHIPS
Destroyers: Clemson-class and Fletcher-class
Escort ships were the essential part of any fleet. They fulfilled a variety of duties, such as reconnaissance, fire assistance, anti-submarine protection, and others. Battleship or Carrier without Destroyers escort would have been easy prey for the enemy submarines, aircraft or vessels.

*Please note, that this is still a “work in progress”.

Now it is time for the Empire of Japan Navy to shine:

AIRCRAFT CARRIERS
Carriers: Shokaku-class and Taiho-class
Aircraft carriers were the key to winning major naval battles at the time. Their ability to facilitate large scale aerial attacks from afar made them top priority targets on the battlefield.

Historically, the Japanese fleet lost the majority of its carrier fleet and carrier-based aviation over the few major naval battles, which preordained the course of the entire war in the Pacific.

CAPITAL SHIPS
Battleships: Nagato-class and Yamato-class
Heavy cruisers: Mogami-class and Tone-class
Capital ships embodied devastating artillery firepower. However, they were susceptible to torpedo attacks. Losing even one such a powerful vessel was a heavy blow to the entire flotilla.

Japanese battleship Yamato was arguably the most powerful capital ship across all countries fleets. Only two such ships were completed, while the third one was converted into a carrier when it became apparent that aircraft carriers would be the power that decides the course of the war.

ESCORT SHIPS
Destroyers: Kagero-class
Escort ships were the essential part of any fleet. They fulfilled a variety of duties, such as reconnaissance, fire assistance, anti-submarine protection, and others. Battleship or Carrier without Destroyers escort would have been easy prey for the enemy submarines, aircraft or vessels.

*Please note, that this is still a “work in progress”.

The key feature of the US land forces is better equipment and availability of self-propelled units of all types. This proved to be a solid advantage over arguably less technologically advanced Imperial Japanese Army.

And even though it was not a trivial task to transport and to land mechanized units on tiny islands amidst the Pacific Ocean each of those machines pushed the odds in the US favor.

•   Self-propelled anti-aircraft gun: M15 Halftrack
•   Self-propelled artillery: M7 “Priest”
•   Tank destroyer: M10 “Wolverine”
•   Tanks: Light tank M3 Stuart and Medium tank M4A1 Sherman

Last week we gave you a glimpse of the US troops and now it is time for the adversaries - the Empire of Japan.

Unlike the US troops, the Japanese had a very limited number of light and medium tanks and even smaller number of self-propelled units available. So, the bulk of Japanese land troops had towed artillery, anti-air, and anti-tank units.

•   Artillery: Type 90 (75 mm), Type 91 (100 mm) and Type 96 (150 mm)
•   Anti-aircraft gun: Type 88 (75 mm) and Type 99 (88 mm)
•   Anti-tank gun: Type 1 (47 mm)
•   Japanese medium tanks: Type 97 Chi-Ha and Type 1 Chi-He

Later on Japanese started producing better tanks, but only in small numbers (due to severe lack of resources) and kept them for the defense of the mainland, so they never saw action.

While playing the Japanese campaign the player will have the opportunity to change that and use some of limited or even experimental models of Japanese tanks and self-propelled units to strengthen his land forces.

Make sure to let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments below.

Tone class is the last heavy cruiser design of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

While its predecessor Mogami class (also in the game) was limited in design by the London Naval Treaty, Tone class had a much better design with fixed flaws and no limitations. It underwent various upgrades throughout the war.

It is a force to reckon with while playing the USA campaign, and an invaluable asset while playing the Empire of Japan campaign.

Dive bombers in Strategic Mind: The Pacific

Today, we want to tell you more about one of the games mechanics - the Dive bombing ability.

On the picture, you can see an SBD-5 dive bomber attacking Kagero class destroyer (usually it is not the brightest idea, as destroyers are far from easy targets for air attacks). SBD-5 (be default) has a Dive bomber skill, which allows it to chose which ship part to attack (expect the Hull and the Engine) or make an ordinary attack (damage is split among various ship parts).

Each attack does minimum damage of 1 to Hull, and the rest of it goes to the chosen ship part. Thus while torpedo bombers can deal more damage to the Hull with torpedoes, Dive bombers can perform precise strikes rendering useless selected ship parts, leaving the enemy ship easy prey for further attacks.

The proper combination and teamwork of different types of units is the key to success and a sign of a truly strategic mind. Only 15 days left before the start of Early Access. Make sure to try it out and give us your thoughts and proposals

In the USA campaign, the player assumes the role of the newly appointed Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet ― Admiral Chester William Nimitz. He is to turn the tide of war in the Pacific.

During the Early Access period, the first three operations of the USA campaign will be available featuring epochal naval battles between the United States of America and the Empire of Japan, such as the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway and the Battle of Guadalcanal.

Try for yourself the role of the saviour of the US, and remember, Chester Nimitz did not have the save/load option to help him out. ;)

The Early Access starts on April 30.

Naval units have a more elaborate mechanics compared to Ground or Air forces. On the picture, you can see various ship parts of the Yorktown class carrier: 127 mm L38 Mk30 Dual-purpose gun, 20 mm Oerlikon Anti-Aircraft gun, Flight deck, Engine, Radar, etc. Most of them have HP indicated by a green bar and a number in the bottom right corner.

The less HP has a gun the lower damage it would deal upon firing.

If the Engine has 50% HP or less, the Move points of the ship are halved and if the Engine has 0 HP than the ship has 0 Move points. The number of Move points are added to all ship defenses at all times. Thus by damaging the Engine, you reduce ship defenses and increase the effectiveness of your next attacks.

The flight deck is another interesting ship part. It allows carrier-based Aircraft to land and take-off from the carrier. If it has 0 HP, Aircraft can no longer take off and land.

Every ship has a Maintenance unit which restores a number (depends on ship class) of HP to damaged ship parts at the end of every turn. However, the Hull cannot be repaired during the operations, and it is automatically restored between the operations.

Each ship also has an Emergency repair team, which can be used only a few times during each operation to fully restore chosen ship part.

Stay tuned to learn more about the game mechanics and features in the next updates.

The Early Access starts on April 30.

Victory in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
2 May @ 3:34pm - Alexandr

You may have noticed a green progress bar in the top left corner of the screen showing you the number of Victory points you currently have.
At the start of each operation, you have 150 Victory points, and this number may go up to 400 or down to 0 depending on your actions.

So how to get these points?
Apart from 150 you have from the start, there are the following ways:
•   Destroy or chase from the map (if enemy forces retreat by scenario) all enemy units to get up to 100 Victory points.
•   Complete secondary objectives to get up to 100 Victory points.
•   If there is not a single enemy unit left on the map, you gain an additional 25 Victory points.
•   If you (or your allies) control ALL flags on the map, you gain an additional 25 points. (As you do not have Ground units during the first two operations of USA campaign, you should use Marine squad Equipment to get this done)

How can you lose Victory points?
•   Losing units. You do not lose Victory points for damaged units, only for the lost ones. (While you still spend Prestige to repair them) The more units you lose, the more Victory points you lose. However each operation has a certain “Acceptable losses” threshold, and until you have not exceeded it, you lose 0 points even if you lost a unit.
•   Playing extra turns. At the start of operations you a number of turns available to you indicated on the “End turn” button. (For example, 10/15). The first number indicates the number of turns before the Indecision penalty starts to kick in. The second number indicates the number of turns before you lose the operation. After the first number has reached 0, each of the following turns will give you a -10 Victory points penalty per turn.

To finish the operation, you have to complete all the primary objectives. And then you choose either to finish the operation immediately or to stay (if you have spare turns left) and finish some secondary objectives etc.

So why do you need these points?
•   First of all, Victory points are required to learn and level up the HQ skills.
•   Victory points also determine what type of victory you will get. If by the time you can finish the operation you have got less than 250 - it is a Bronze victory. 250 - 349 gives you a Silver victory, 350+ gives you a Golden victory.
•   Better victory type speeds up getting some awards (however, some of them are awarded for getting all secondary objectives done) and new ranks. Thus you will have more command points to use HQ skills.

Note that type of victory does not affect the reward for completing the operation (in Prestige), but killing more enemies and finishing Secondary objectives gives you more Prestige by itself if you do not lose too many units in the process.
Thus it is important to both achieve your goals and minimize your losses.

We plan to add more hints with detailed information into the statistics screen.

Let us know what you think in our Community hub and make sure to post your screenshots to let everyone know how well you did.

Update 1.01 and the first feedback
3 MAY @ 3:08PM - ALEXANDR

Update 1.01

Changes:

•   Added automatic crash report form allowing you to send us data on the crash. (While send us a save file is still the best way to help us fix an issue, this form is an invaluable tool to deal with so-called “random” or irregular crashes which happen unpredictably and are difficult to track down.)
•   Fixed issues with fatal errors which happen every time from a certain save file. (Some irregular crushes might still happen, but the reported issues (with enclosed save files) which could be replicated are now fixed.) The saves you sent us should now work without crashes.

We thank all of our players who posted these issues on our community hub and sent us save files, so we could locate the problem and solve it in a timely manner. Your help is what allowed us to quickly locate and fix the problem. Make sure to let us know if there are still some problems. We are certain that together we can make a great game!

First feedback
We scrutinized the feedback of the first few days to learn what troubles you the most and you would like us to change or add into the game.

As stated above, your crash reports were a tremendous help in fixing crashes you have reported. We are sure that with your help we can gradually polish Strategic Mind: The Pacific to a near perfect state.

We also took notice of your proposals and requests, number one being to allow further camera position (to give you a better overview of the battlefield). We could not add it in today`s update, but we are working on it. Some things you propose are already being worked on, whilst others we add to our “to do” list.

Also, there are first few playthroughs of the first operation “The Battle of the Coral Sea” recorded by the players. You can easily find them on YouTube.
We are happy that you guys took time to create these videos even though our game is quite challenging and requires some getting used to its mechanics. We look forward to watching you play the next two operations.

Lastly, one of the most active community members - Stonedog has started to put together all the useful information about the game. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/991810/discussions/0/1649917420740367068/) We hope it will help everyone to get a better grasp of the game. We plan to add a proper tutorial and manual on full release, but until then we are happy that there are experienced and willing-to-help community members out there to help everyone else get a better understanding of the game.

We hope that with the help of volunteering community members our development team can achieve much better results. We thank you all for your contribution towards making a better game.

Ship weaponry in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
7 May @ 7:24pm - Daizor

There are various types of naval weaponry:

Main Gun
Most powerful artillery on any given vessel.

Second gun
Can be found on Battleships and Heavy Cruisers. It is less powerful than their Main Guns but usually more powerful than Destroyers or Carriers Main Gun. Second Guns can be Dual-purpose guns, which can be used to attack both naval and aerial targets.

Anti-Aircraft gun
The only way (except dual-purpose guns) to deal with the enemy Aircraft.

Torpedo tube
Can be found on Destroyers and be used effectively versus the enemy Carriers, submarines and even capital ships (though you would have to deal with the Barrage fire before attempting torpedo attack on the enemy Battleship.)

Depth charges
Most effective anti-submarine weapon. Can be found onboard Destroyers.

That is a lot to take in as you begin playing the game. So, we added an auto selection system for the ship guns. If you did not choose the gun manually, then the ship attacks with the autoselected gun.

Manual selection. To select a gun, you have to click on it. The ship will be attempting to fire only that gun until you click on the same gun again (to deactivate manual selection and go back to the automatic one) or click on another gun to manually select it.

You can improve the efficiency of your fleet by switching to manual selection at the right moments while saving your time with auto selection when manual selection is unnecessary.

Firing zone. Sometimes the zone of fire can be blocked. You can see on the screenshot that there is Torpedo tube manually selected and it's Gun range is 2 while its firing zone is 1 or 2 hexes depending on the location of allied ships. You cannot attack with torpedoes through the hex with allied (or enemy) ships.

Also, terrain such as mountains also limits the firing zone. You can easily see the firing zone of a chosen unit or naval gun by looking at the red line around it. (See screenshot)

Let us know what you think of this system and how convenient it is for you. Which one do you use more auto selection or manual selection?

Update 1.03
11 MAY @ 4:23PM - DAIZOR

Changes:

•   Fixed crash when trying to replace non-core unit Equipment while not having enough Prestige.
•   Fixed crash when buying Equipment to the 2nd slot, then selling from the 1st slot and finishing the operation.
•   Fixed a few other problems causing crashes.
All these fixes were done with the help of crash report form. Once again we thank everyone who reports problems and thus helps us make a better game.
•   Fixed bug: when your aircraft landed at an Airfield with enemy controlled supply point / maritime hub and then you capture the supply point / maritime hub then your Aircraft gets Ammunition and Fuel but does not restore Damaged strength. Now it does restore.
•   Fixed visual problem: when an Aircraft lands on a Carrier the hex where it was before the landing is still highlighted after the landing as if it is there.

That`s it for today`s update.

We move step-by-step towards a higher quality of the game. Today`s update is another step in that direction.

Our team wishes you all a good weekend!

Absolute victory!
14 May @ 2:46pm - Daizor

In one of our previous articles we talked at length about the Victory points and victory types:

Strategic Mind: The Pacific Announcement    2 May (https://steamcommunity.com/games/991810/announcements/detail/1612763361809536871)

However, there was one thing we missed out on purpose, as we wanted to see our players discover it by themselves. And recently one of the players have posted a screenshot with it on our community hub

:Spoiler: Midway attempt 2, absolute victory but in part due to save/load abuse

A Screenshot of Strategic Mind: The Pacific By: Tim

We congratulate Tim on being the first one with a proven Absolute victory in Midway operation. (Not an easy task by the way.) And now we can finally discuss this new (for the PS players) feature.

In order to get an Absolute victory, you have to get a 400 out of 400 Victory points. And that is it. All the rest can be found in the Article mentioned above. However, you have to have great knowledge of the game and its mechanics as well as sharp tactics and precise moves to get an Absolute victory.

We introduced this feature in order to increase replayability, encourage and reward players who try to do everything perfectly. It is intended to be a nearly impossible feat on your first playthrough. However, as you master the game it will be easier to get it.

As it as an EA period and there is no difficulty settings atm, everyone play on the same difficulty level. So, we have come up with an idea of a mini-contest. Do not take it too seriously, it is mostly for your fun sake.

The first player to get an Absolute victory on Guadalcanal and send us his save files pack throughout the mission (at least 1 save per turn) and post a screenshot (the time of its publication on screenshots section of our community hub will be considered the time of submission) with his/her result on our community hub will get 3 free keys to share with his friends and play together.

Will also post the results of the contest. Please, after you published a screenshot, send us a letter with a link to it and your save files (located C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\StarniGames\StrategicMind\ThePacific Note that “AppData” is a hidden folder) at starnigames.alexandr@gmail.com

The first one to do it with a) unmodified version of the game; b) posted screenshot c) sent us an email with a link to screenshot and save files (at least 1 per turn) wins.

We hope that you will enjoy participating in this small challenge or just observing it from the side.

Good luck strategists!

Supply and infrastructure in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
20 May @ 5:24pm - Daizor

Today we tell you about the supply mechanics.

In-game info
First of all, you can learn about each individual building in the game by right-clicking on it.

Supply generation
There are two primary sources of supply which then pump it through the whole system:
•   Primary hub (generates supplies on its own)
•   Maritime hub (generates supplies when has an allied port in adjacent hex)
From these sources supplies then transferred to the other elements of Supply Network.

Supply distribution.
Each Supply hub, Supply point or Maritime hub distributes supply within the Supply Zone around it. The Supply Zone is determined by a truck with 8 move points and wheeled movement type (let's call it supply truck) - if the supply truck can reach certain hex within 1 turn then this hex is in the Supply Zone. They are also connected to each other, forming a Supply Network and passing on supplies via the same 8-move points supply truck.
In the case of seaport there is 10 move points supply vessel.

Cut the supply lines
If an enemy unit blocks the way of the supply truck, then it cuts off the connection between these elements of Supply Network and reduces the Supply Zone.
Same applies for the naval supply vessel: if the enemy ships block the way it cannot bring the supplies.

Block the port
If the enemy naval units are within 2 hexes from the allied seaport they blockade it completely.

Destroy the infrastructure
If any object of infrastructure is reduced to 50% HP or lower, it is no longer functional (eg. railroad station no longer provides a connection for the Supply Network and cannot embark/disembark units on a train). HP is restored over time.

Supply Zone and Service Zone
Supply Zone is marked with box icons on the hexes and indicated where your units will get resupplied at the end of your turn.
Service Zone is marked with a wrench icon and indicates where your units can be Reinforced or their Equipment changed.

Supply tactics
It is important to make make sure your advancing troops will have an active Supply Zone nearby for timely resupply.
You can also leave the enemy without supplies by cutting off/blocking or taking from him crucial elements of his supply network, thus ensuring your troops' success.

Please note that this is still a work in progress and some details may change.

We are working on the game manual so you can rest assured that all this and lots of other information will be there waiting for you in the game at full release.

Holland McTyeire Smith

"We're not accustomed to occupying defensive positions. It's destructive to morale." ⎯ Holland McTyeire Smith

Holland McTyeire Smith was a general in the United States Marine Corps, considered by many to be the “father” of modern U.S. amphibious warfare. While his soldiers had given him a “Howlin` Mad” nickname, their recollections on him were reverent.

In the U.S. Pacific campaign general Smith takes command over the landing operations of U.S. Marine Corps forces. He will appear both in cinematics and in the headquarters room (between the operations).

During the EA period, only a lonely admiral Nimitz will be occupying the headquarters, but we are working hard to give him decent company and general Smith will surely join him.

In the future updates you will see more of the key characters for both campaigns, so make sure you do not miss them.

Damage control in Strategic Mind: the Pacific
29 May @ 5:42pm - Daizor

Night, rain, fire or a hole from a torpedo hit ⎯ all of it and much more nasty things could happen to your ships in the unfriendly Pacific Ocean of 1941-1945.

You can always see current negative effects in the unit info tab by right-clicking a unit. While certain skills and attaches will help you mitigate forces of nature` interference, Emergency repair unit can help you with ship fires and holes caused by the enemy attacks.

Maintenance unit automatically repairs 1 hole or fire per turn before they apply the effect. (For example, if you have a ship with 1 Hull HP left and 1 hole, it will not sink, as the Maintenance team would remove it right before it deals damage at the end of your turn).

Emergency repair unit, apart from restoring HP to any ship parts can also remove 1 hole or fire. (For example you have a ship with 1 Hull HP left and 2 holes. In order for it to survive you would need to activate Emergency repair button and choose to remove one hole. Then at the end of your turn the other hole would be removed by Maintenance. There is also a level up skill which allows you to remove 2 holes or fires at once with Emergency repair, thus allowing your 1 Hull HP ship to survive even with 3 holes.

Damage control is an important element of the game and learning to efficiently deal with adverse combat effects is vital to preserve and strengthen your fleet. During the WW2 many large ships were considered to be lost due to poor damage control. Make sure you do not make the same mistake.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

"Knowing what's right doesn't mean much unless you do what's right.."
⎯ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32 President of the United States of America. He was the only President in the US history to be elected 4 times, serving his country from March 1933 to April 1945.

“Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don't have the strength.”
⎯ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

His Paralytic illness started in 1921 and progress ever since, making him unable to walk without help. Despite such a major hindrance, he managed to continue with his political career and carried his country though the most troublesome times.

“When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all.”
⎯ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

We keep working on all aspects of the game, cutscenes being one of them. In future reports you will see more key characters for both campaigns.

We hope that you can make good use of Franklin Delano Roosevelt`s wise advice both in your daily life and when playing our games.

Units acquisition in Strategic Mind: The Pacific
12 Jun @ 11:55am - Katerina

Prestige
While advancing in a campaign you gain Prestige. Prestige represents a comprehensive image of how many financial resources are at your disposal, how strong is your political influence, etc. You can spend Prestige to acquire new units, upgrade your units or provide them with new equipment.

Acquiring units
Acquiring units is pretty straightforward. You open the corresponding tab, choose the unit you would like to acquire, check whether you have enough Prestige to get it and press the Acquire button. However, you should be aware that every deployed core unit reduces the number of Command points you gain each turn by 1. So, the more units you have on the battlefield, the fewer HQ skills per turn you would be able to use. Thus you have to be smart about the composition of your forces, as “the more the merrier” logic can turn out to be the faulty one. Ultimately, it is totally up to you: there is no limit on the number of units, so if you have lots of Prestige and would like to replicate “Zerg Rush” in a WW2 setting, there is no stopping you.

Upgrading units
As the campaign progresses, new models become available and it is prudent to keep your units up-to-date and upgrade them when necessary. Keep in mind that there are two ways the cost of upgrading can be calculated:

•   Upgrading units of a different series. If you want to upgrade Hellcat into Corsair then you basically sell Hellcat for 50% of its cost and then buy Corsair for the full price. (The resulting Prestige cost is the same as if you dismissed Hellcat and acquired Corsair, however, by upgrading you moved your experienced pilots from one model of fighter planes to the other, saving all of their levels, skills, and hero (if it was assigned to that unit).
•   Upgrading units of the same series. If you want to upgrade Hellcat into a newer Hellcat model, you get 90% of you older Hellcat cost and then pay full price for the newer Hellcat. So, it is much more efficient to upgrade units within their series.

Dismissing a unit will get you 50% of its cost in Prestige, but all of its experience and skills will be lost forever.

Upgrading Naval units
Please note, that all Naval units of one class are considered of the same series as well. Thus, when upgrading Colorado class battleship into Iowa class battleship you would get 90% of Colorado class battleship cost. The idea being that ships generally serve longer and can be transferred to other fronts and keep serving for many years to come. So by giving away an older ship model, you get back most of its cost.

Getting new equipment
You can equip your units with better weapons and tools both during and between the operations. Naval units have to be within service zone (next to a Seaport). Ground units have to be next to a supply point, supply hub, seaport or an airfield. Air units have to be landed on board a carrier or at an airfield.

Acquire units VS Buy(purchase) units
In our previous title Panzer Strategy the corresponding tab was named “Buy units”. And some players felt that it broke an immersion and gave a feeling of visiting a grocery store. However, in many games this process is called “buying” new units and people are more or less used to it.
This time we decided to give it a try and name this tab “Acquire units” and the button “Acquire”. We would like to know your opinions on this matter. Please, let us know in the comments which variant do you think fits our game best:
1) Buy unit
2) Acquire unit
3) Purchase unit
4) “your own variant (please specify)”.

We look forward to reading your comments.

Ernest Joseph King
1 Jul @ 4:05pm - Katerina

"I don't care how good they are. Unless they get a kick in the ass every six weeks, they'll slack off."
- Ernest King (1940)

Ernest Joseph King (23 November 1878 – 25 June 1956) was Commander in Chief, United States Fleet (COMINCH) and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) during World War II and is one of the four persons to date to reach the rank of Fleet Admiral. He was assigned right after the Pearl Harbor disaster and tasked with restoring both the might and the prestige of the Navy. It was the right person for this task as he has shown himself to be a professional and strict leader.

"The way to victory is long.
The going will be hard.
We will do the best we can with what we've got.
We must have more planes and ships- at once.
Then it will be our turn to strike.
We will win through- in time."
King's first statement as Commander-in-Chief,
United States fleet, sent on 24 December 1941.

He was mostly preoccupied with the overall strategy, resource allocation, and communication with the government officials, waging most of his “battles” in Washington D.C., while the operational command in the Pacific was mainly the task of Admiral Chester Willam Nimitz.

"Don't tell them anything. When it's over, tell them who won."
- Ernest King (on PR strategy of US Navy)

While the King's advice is sound, especially in a time of war, Starni Games has to overlook this particular piece of advice. We will continue to keep you informed on how our work progresses. Our team keeps working on all aspects of the game. On the screenshot, you can see Admiral King inspecting the new Essex-class carrier with new Hellcat fighter planes on board.

Keep following our news to see the key characters from the Japanese campaign.

I feel that I've undertaken a heavy responsibility. If I had only been more firm and refused. Now we've left home waters and I'm beginning to wonder if the operation will work.
- (Before the attack on Pearl Harbor) © Chuichi Nagumo

Chūichi Nagumo (南雲 忠一 Nagumo Chūichi, 25 March 1887 – 6 July 1944) was a Japanese admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy. He was tasked with carrying out the attack on Pearl Harbor and later on he was a commanding officer in other key naval battles of the Pacific war. After the tides of war have turned, and IJN suffered heavy losses, he ended up commanding the defense of the Island of Saipan. When Japanese resistance on Saipan was over he committed suicide with his pistol.

One son of Nagumo described him as a brooding father, obsessed with and later regretful about pressuring his sons into the IJN. In contrast, Nagumo's junior naval officers thought of him as a father figure.
He was a dedicated Navy officer who spent his whole life serving his country to the best of his abilities. He also wanted his sons to join the Navy. While in the beginning of the war against the US his operations were quite successful, the crushing defeat at Midway brought an end to his command in major operations.

I-uh-have the utmost respect for Yamamoto-san. If it had not been for him, there would be no naval aviation. However-the most brilliant man can occasionally make a mistake.

His relations with Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the Commander in Chief of the Combined Fleet were arguably strained. Supposedly, Yamamoto might have preferred other officers to take command of the key operations, but the seniority of Nagumo over the rest of candidates left Yamamoto little room for maneuvering. While Nagumo was often voicing his criticism and skeptical view of Yamamoto`s plans, which he then had to carry out.
In Strategic Mind: the Pacific, Admiral Chuichi Nagumo is one of the key characters and while playing the Japanese campaign you will have to work hard to win his trust and support.

As promised in our previous news update, in this update we have presented one of our key characters for the Japanese campaign. Keep following our news updates to learn the rest of the key characters for the Japanese campaign.

Why aircraft are powerful?
19 Jul @ 3:23pm - Katerina

One of the main forces to reckon with in Strategic Mind: The Pacific is aircraft force. However, some players struggle to learn all the tricks necessary to utilize aircraft to the utmost. So, we decided to share some advice which should help you in command of the air force.

Game mechanics advice:

1) Use “overstrength”
You can increase experienced units` strength as shown at the screenshot above.
This is extremely important! It is one of the biggest advantages of Aircraft over naval units. Increased strength improves not only survivability but also the damage output. A 15 strength bomber will deal 50% more damage compared to 10 strength one.

2) Do not underestimate skills
Aircraft have a set of great skills, make good use of them. Here are a few examples:
Afterburner - increases not only operational range, but also defense of an aircraft unit.
Boom & Zoom - you should activate this one when engaging the enemy fighters. It will allow you to attack before the enemy returns fire.
Linked the fight - is extremely important to deal with a pair of enemy fighters next to each other.
Altitude - will increase the survivability of your aircraft units manyfold.
Tactical retreat - is great for repositioning your units after the attack to minimize retaliation.
And so on.

3) Make good use of equipment
Various types of ammo will increase the effectiveness of your raids greatly.
Aircraft radar is great for night sorties.

Tactical advice:

1) Choose the right target
Destroyers are difficult targets for aircraft and better be dealt with via naval units.
Aircraft are great at destroying capital ships and carriers of the enemy. (5-6 aircraft are capable of sinking a Battleship in one go). They can also attack the enemy submarines with torpedoes.

2) Separate target, or kill its escort first
Large fleets collectively have powerful AA capacity. So, you have to try isolating the enemy ships and/or destroying their escort first. Then a couple of lonely or separated ships have become an easy target for your aircraft.

3) Attack in the right order
One of the ways to initiate an attack on a target with a strong AA capacity would be as follows. Try attacking with incendiaries first targeting the enemy AA and DP guns and only afterward continue with torpedoes/armor-piercing shells to finish off the enemy.

4) Deal with enemy fighters first
Do not let your bombers fly without fighters cover until the enemy is out of fighters.

Repair and Reinforcement advice:
AA fire (both land and ship) mostly deals non-lethal damage to Aircraft. Damaged Aircraft are repaired automatically upon landing. (On Carrier or Airfield)

Fighters (and bombers return fire) on the other hand deal mostly lethal damage.
If your Aircraft unit suffered a lot of lethal damage, you can reinforce it for prestige and command points. However, this can be done only on land airfields. (Not on board carrier).

It is important to save your aircraft (at least core ones) and let them gain experience, so that they eventually become your most valuable tool.

Future changes:
We plan certain tweaks (in parameters) and addition of news content (HQ skills and Heroes with custom skill sets and so on) before full release which will add new tricks to your arsenal.

We hope that this article will help in the meantime to use your aircraft force more efficiently.
In the future news updates we will make a comparison of all main types of forces in our game to see what are their respective strong and weak sides. So, stay tuned.

With best regards,

Hideki Tojo 東条 英機
29 Jul @ 4:40pm - Katerina

Hideki Tojo(Kyūjitai: 東條 英機; Shinjitai: 東条 英機) was a Japanese politician and general of the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) who concurrently served as the Imperial Rule Assistance Association's leader and 40th Prime Minister of Japan during much of World War II.

“The heart of the matter is the imposition on us
of withdrawal from Indochina and China ...
If we yield to America's demands, it will destroy
the fruits of the China incident.
Manchukuo will be endangered
and our control of Korea undermined.”
© Hideki Tojo
Tojo has become a Prime Minister in 1941, right before the Pearl Harbor events. He was a supporter of preemptive war against the US, a widespread notion in the Imperial Japanese Army. The Navy commanders opposed such notion as they were more aware of the naval strength of the Allies. Another candidate for Prime Minister position was Prince Naruhiko Higashikuni, however, Emperor Hirohito did not want the royal family to have any ties with the war and possible war crimes, so he supported Tojo appointment instead. Tojo was known to be extremely loyal to the Emperor, the man who would never support any coup. After the war, he became a scapegoat for Japanese military crimes, though he was indeed responsible for them.

"I am very sorry it is taking me so long to die.
The Greater East Asia War was justified and righteous.
I am very sorry for the nation and all the races
of the Greater Asiatic powers.
I wait for the righteous judgment of history.
I wished to commit suicide but sometimes that fails."
© Hideki Tojo
When the US tried to arrest him right after the war, he shot himself (unsuccessfully) and said the quote above. During his imprisonment, he received a new set of dentures, made by an American dentist, into which the phrase "Remember Pearl Harbor" had been secretly drilled in Morse code. The trial sentenced him to death and he was executed in 1948.

“It is natural that I should bear entire responsibility
for the war in general, and, needless to say, I am prepared to do so. Consequently, now that the war has been lost,
it is presumably necessary that I be judged
so that the circumstances of the time can be
clarified and the future peace of the world be assured.”
© Hideki Tojo
Hideki Tojo will be one of the key characters in the Empire of Japan campaign in Strategic Mind: The Pacific.

Hmm, this is my first encounter with this game.

It looks impressive. I'm used to measuring this type of game against War in the Pacific from Matrix Games. So I'd like any sort of comment and input regarding a comparison.

Hmm, this is my first encounter with this game.

It looks impressive. I'm used to measuring this type of game against War in the Pacific from Matrix Games. So I'd like any sort of comment and input regarding a comparison.

WITP:AE is an all consuming monster while SM: TP is more like a dog which is easy going and fun to play with. WITP:AE, as you know has a lot of depth and is very time consuming. This is a lot lighter and concentrates more on the engagements. The price is good but if you are not sure then add to your wish list and get it on a sale.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I have WitP, never play it though. Bought it because I'm something of an addict :) But I prefer my turns to take minutes, not hours and days :)

I'll check into this more.

Isoroku Yamamoto 山本 五十六

Isoroku Yamamoto 山本 五十六

Should hostilities once break out between Japan and the United States, it is not enough that we take Guam and the Philippines, nor even Hawaii and San Francisco. To make victory certain, we would have to march into Washington and dictate the terms of peace in the White House. I wonder if our politicians, among whom armchair arguments about war are being glibly bandied about in the name of state politics, have confidence as to the final outcome and are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices.
© Isoroku Yamamoto
(prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor)
Isoroku Yamamoto was a Japanese Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet during World War II until his death. He was promoted to Marshal Admiral posthumously. However, arguably the most intriguing part of his personality was that he strongly opposed both the pact with the Axis powers and the war against the USA. He was one of the few people in Japanese high command untouched by the militaristic hysteria, who kept his head cool and thought in a rational and systematic manner.

Anyone who has seen the auto factories in Detroit and the oil fields in Texas knows that Japan lacks the national power for a naval race with America.
© Isoroku Yamamoto
Yamamoto`s reluctance to go to war against the USA was based not on fear or indecisiveness but on good knowledge of the subject. On February 13, 1924, at the rank of captain, he was part of the Japanese delegation visiting the US Naval War College. Later on, he also participated in the Second London Naval Conference of 1930 as a rear admiral and the 1934 London Naval Conference as a vice admiral. He proved to be not only a capable commander but also a talented diplomat.

The fiercest serpent may be overcome by a swarm of ants.
© Isoroku Yamamoto
Yamamoto was one of the advocates of naval aviation and made a huge effort in implementing carrier forces.

In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain, I will run wild and win victory upon victory. But then, if the war continues after that, I have no expectation of success.
© Isoroku Yamamoto
His assessment turned out to be the correct one. Upon the initial success against both the US and Allies Navies, the later portion of the Pacific war was predetermined because of the huge disparity in the numbers and resources between the opposing parties.

People who don't gamble aren't worth talking to.
© Isoroku Yamamoto
Yamamoto`s death was a dramatic event. He was always keen on playing games: shogi, bridge, and other card games were among his favorites. Many considered his plan of attack on Pearl Harbor as one more of his gambles but it was only an attempt to equalize the forces with one decisive strike because otherwise, it would have been impossible to combat the US Navy. After the Guadalcanal defeat, Yamamoto decided to visit the frontlines to inspire his troops. His subordinates tried to dissuade him, pointing out that such a visit is too risky due to enemy aviation activity. However, he did not heed their arguments. The US forces managed to intercept the radio transmission with the exact date, time, and route of his flight and sent a group of P-38 fighters to intercept and shoot down his G4M plane. The operation was a success and the Japanese Imperial navy was beheaded.

In Strategic Mind: the Pacific players choosing the Japanese campaign will be putting on the shoes of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in his role of the Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet and trying to outdo what he did historically.
Please, keep following our news updates to learn more about the rest of the characters for the Empire of japan campaign.

Oh, and by the way, there is one detail we have omitted in the text but it can be clearly seen on the screenshot of Yamamoto above. Please, share your thoughts in the comments of what it could be.

A step towards a colorblind-friendly game
27 AUG @ 10:30AM   - ALEXANDR

The players give us lots of great feedback and suggestions on our Steam community hubs. Several players voiced a totally legitimate complaint that the only difference between Core and Noncore units is the color and it is yellow versus green, which is impossible to tell for people with certain types of color blindness. So, now we addressed this issue and changed the shape of unit strength indicators:

Core units were changed from (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/c4e58fdd74ad5407110df3a2d9a5195aab52d2bf.jpg)  to (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/840885a2a2f2953b8e7951c9e8ff029e4baa40b1.jpg)

Non core units from (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/7d04b4651b085d418c54f21eb42d0d832e79cf09.jpg) to (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/522b4cb2d74e3266c27d130ce59ee3190786c7cc.jpg)

Allied units from  (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/687f9ceffcc1d06347dfbc451e4bc7d388d46655.jpg) to (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/fcc1339e23bbaea2c631dc7d4532d7c0c205cb57.jpg)

And the enemy units were left unchanged: (https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/34062974/59bd9bce1e2d75c2acdc08cdd2e547405f693485.jpg)

We think this change is not only crucial for colorblind players, but also very helpful for all the players, as it is now easier and more intuitive to find your core units. We felt this change ourselves when we were trying it out. So, we hope it will make the game more convenient and easy to understand.
This is but one of many steps necessary to create a great game. However, it is a good example of how your feedback can change the development process and guide us towards a better result.

As for the overall development process, we are working hard to get everything ready for full release. So, keep following the news updates to learn the exact dates of full release as soon as they are announced.

Personalities in Strategic Mind: The Pacific. His Majesty Emperor Hirohito
Fri, 27 September 2019

You can't imagine how much more work I had when I was a god. (с) Emperor Hirohito

The Emperor of Japan (or His Imperial Majesty) was not only the head of State, but also the highest figure in Shinto religion. Before and during WW2 the Japanese government was actively propagating both the cult of the Emperor and Shinto, portraying the Emperor as a living God.

I discovered freedom for the first time in England. (с) Emperor Hirohito

Hirohito has started his reign at the age of 20, first as a regent and later as the Emperor. Before the start of his reign, however, he went on a 6-month tour in European countries.

The fruits of victory are tumbling into our mouths too quickly. (с) Emperor Hirohito

The level of involvement of the Emperor into the military affairs remains a controversial and murky theme even today. Let us put it this way: he did influence all the processes, but rarely interfered directly. It was likely a thought-through way of conduct so that in case something goes awry, the Emperor could not be taken responsible and his direct involvement could not be proven.

Thus, all responsibility for war crimes and other atrocities would be put on Prime minister, who had an actual power and the other high ranked officials.

It is according to the dictates of time and fate that We have resolved to pave the way for a grand peace for all the generations to come by enduring the unendurable and suffering what is unsufferable. (с) Emperor Hirohito

After the war, the Emperor had to renounce his “Godly nature”, but otherwise remained in power and became a cornerstone on which the country was rebuilt. Americans understood that in order to avoid chaos, they have to leave Hirohito in power and allow him to escape all sorts of prosecution.

Several big announcements are coming up in the weeks to come, so stay tuned not to miss any important news.

With best regards

This time we stepped up the game big time in terms of voice over. Lots of time and effort were put not only in writing and proofreading all the texts but also in recording the voiceover for all the texts and all the characters.

We have several types of voiceover in Strategic Mind: the Pacific:

•   Voiceover for cinematics
•   Voiceover for in-game messages from all characters
•   Campaign introduction
•   Character lines in headquarters before each operation
•   And one more thing we will tell you about in more detail in one of the future announcements. (For now, you are welcome to post your guess in the comments below).

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the voice acting as much as we enjoyed working on it!

Strategic Mind: The Pacific full release is just around the corner, so stay tuned.

The Battle of Midway gameplay!
Sun, 27 October 2019

Let's Play Strategic Mind: The Pacific United States | USA Campaign Battle of Midway Gameplay Part 1

https://youtu.be/fIh-txjn3FE

Gameplay video by Praetorian HiJynx. In this video you can see the first half of the Midway operation, as well as preparation of your naval forces before the actual battle. As many of you may know, the Battle of Midway was a turning point in the flow of the war, when the US Navy has finally turned from defensive to offensive actions. We think this video is both interesting and instructive and provides fairly good overview of the game, without spoiling the whole operation. Let us quote the communique of Admiral Chester William Nimitz, given after the victory in the Battle of Midway: “Pearl Harbor has now been partially avenged. Vengeance will not be complete until Japanese sea power has been reduced to impotence. We have made substantial progress in that direction. Perhaps we will be forgiven if we claim we are about midway to our objective!” With best regards, Starni Games development team

Update 2.01
Wed, 30 October 2019

In today’s update 2.01 we addressed the most urgent issues which have arisen after the launch (version 2.00).

Changes:

•   Added animation of torpedo attack for torpedo bombers attacking with torpedos. (So, you can now easily differentiate visually between a bomb and a torpedo aerial attacks)
•   Fixed problem with Carriers' count in the 4th operation of the Japanese campaign. (You have to restart the 4th operation for new changes to apply)
•   Fixed problem with Battleship count in the 7th operation of the US campaign. (You have to restart the 7th operation for new changes to apply)
•   Fixed crash when attacking trucks with captives in the 3rd operation of the Japanese campaign.
•   Reworked some models’ renders.
•   Fixed US helmets models on some units.
•   Fixed some of the localization issues.
•   Fixed various other minor issues.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the community members, who reported most of these issues and thus helped us fix them as soon as possible and make the game better.

Update 2.02

In today’s update 2.02 we have added some additional visual assets and fixed a couple of major issues.

Changes:

•   Added the Great Barrier Reef on 3 maps (no spoilers).
•   Added Shuri castle.
•   Fixed problem with some enemy units in tutorial being difficult to click on (you can now click on both the hex and the unit to attack it, whereas before you had to target unit only. This should make it easier to navigate through the tutorial)

•   Fixed various other minor issues.

Update 2.06
Tue, 17 December 2019

In today’s update 2.06 we fix more issues reported by the community and improved German localization.

Changes:

•   Corrected all German “technical localization” (all the abilities, ship parts descriptions, etc.) There might still be some things to fix with the new version, which we will address in later updates, but over we expect the quality of localization to increase dramatically. Next, we will work on fixing German subtitles for cinematics. If you play the game with German localization on, please do let us know what you think about these fixes.
•   We made some changes to the Australia deployment phase: now you have only 4 deploy hexes in each location, representing the fact that not the whole fleet was able to reach Australia in time. You can deploy the rest of your units in the second deploy phase before turn 2. Additionally, we moved some of the enemy forces further away to balance out the increase in the difficulty of the objective to cover the Army landing.
•   Adjusted the stats of Japanese Ground transports, as some of them were incorrect. Additionally, the USA Ground transport LVT-4 now adds 2 Soft attack and 1 Hard attack as it had guns mounted on it.
•   Fixed an occasional tutorial issue when the player could not press the “Acquire” button (Reported by ChiefCommander33, and others). (It was quite hard to replicate, as it was not happening on any of the PCs in our office. Luckily, one of our friends has encountered it on her laptop and allowed us to borrow it for a few days. Even then it was hard to figure it out).
•   Fixed important crash (reported by [CHN]Zephyr), which was happening after an Infantry unit spent all its movement points, then got new Ground transport, and it could still move on the transport causing a crash. Another variant of the same issue was crash after the Infantry with transport got overrun and was shown ineligible hexes to move to, and if the player chose to move there the game would crash.
•   Fix an issue with Japanese campaign 05 operation (reported by Nix), where completing objectives in a certain order would cause a crash.
•   Fix an issue with Japanese campaign 05 operation, the objective to pursue the enemy fleet was working incorrectly.
•   Fixed USA campaign 04 operation secondary objective to kill submarines not giving experience to your Destroyers as a part of the reward. (Reported by Tim)
•   Fixed USA campaign 06 operation secondary objective to capture the place where Marines barracks were not giving experience to your Marines as a part of the reward. (Reported by The Matrix has you!)
•   Fixed Japan campaign 05 operation secondary objective to prevent Zero capture, the turn timer was going up instead of going down.
•   Fixed a rare bug in Japanese campaign 08 operation, where you would fail secondary objective even if you captured oil storages. (Reported by aramoor50, thank you for the save files)
•   Fixed some visual elements on the map (eg. railroad on bridges etc) on several maps.
•   Fixed incorrect text in Japanese campaign 06 operations the secondary objective “capture the airfield at Munda” -> “Hold the airfield at Munda”. (Reported by Night_Phoenix)
•   Fixed dialogue when first attacking Tekketsu Kinotai in USA campaign operation 09.
•   In the Japanese campaign 06 operation we moved the completion of the main objective to hold all victory hexes one turn earlier so that you do not get a warning that you have the last turn before indecision penalty kicks in even though you did everything perfectly.

We would like to thank all of our community members who keep reporting all the occurring issues and help us to make the game better. We do appreciate your help. Additionally, we would like to thank Night Phoenix for his Lets play series covering the Japanese campaign, as it also helped us to identify and fix a couple of issues.

We will keep improving and polishing the game. Our team wishes everyone good holidays. Stay tuned as there are some big announcements coming.

With best regards

In today’s update 2.07 we added Portuguese (Brazil) localization and fixed the recent issue with being unable to sell the equipment.

Announcement trailer

 Steam page (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1200330/Strategic_Mind_Blitzkrieg/)

The second installment of the Strategic Mind series is to be released in Spring 2020

Today, we proudly announce the second game in the series Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg. It will cover the German campaigns from 1938 to 1944 with the majority of operations being historical and several alternate history ones in one twenty-operations-long campaign.
The game will be based on Strategic Mind series mechanics, but unlike “The Pacific” it will feature mostly land operations and lots of new units, content, and features.

Another good news for Strategic Mind: The Pacific owners is that most of the new features we will be developing for Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg will also be retroactively implemented in Strategic Mind: The Pacific, so that both games will have unified set of core mechanics and features. It will make it easier to understand and more enjoyable to play, if you have already figured out the rules in Strategic Mind: The Pacific, but want to switch to the European theatre.

We will also keep supporting Strategic Mind: The Pacific delivering further updates.

The work on Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg is going full steam since October, and some preliminary work was being done before that. So, we already have made very significant progress and expect to deliver the game in Spring 2020. We work hard to make further quality improvements to the series to make sure you can enjoy the immersive, smart and challenging game this spring.

For those who played our very first project “Panzer Strategy: Blitzkrieg” - here you can find a detailed comparison of these two projects:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1200330/discussions/0/1736635816364416987/

If you are interested in our new project - make sure you add it to the wishlist and follow its page, so that you do not miss any important announcements.

Our team wishes you all a great 2020 year!

With best regards

Update 3.00 is now live!
Wed, 24 June 2020

Achievements, cloud saves, new controls and more!

Update 3.00

Steam achievements added!
You asked us to add Steam achievements since the game release. It did take us quite a while, but finally, the achievements are live. We hope that you will enjoy the additional reward for the sophisticated and large-scale operations of Strategic Mind: The Pacific.

Steam cloud saves
Finally, your saves files will be stored in the Steam cloud. So, you no longer risk losing them and can easily transfer them to another device.

Better Steam integration

•   Now, you can change the language in Steam settings before you launch the game.
•   Also, now your Steam language is set as the game language by default.

New set of controls
Now there is a new set of controls ("Modern") set by default. The old controls are now "Legacy" controls. You can change between the two in the Settings->Game->Controls section.

Modern:
Unit selection - Left mouse button
Attack/Movement - Right mouse button
Open unit info - Middle (wheel) mouse button (or "I" hotkey)
Legacy:
Unit selection - Left mouse button
Attack/Movement - Left mouse button
Open unit info - Right mouse button

Added ground combat tutorials from the Blitzkrieg
Added 5-part tutorial in ground combat, supplied, infrastructure, etc.

Revamped UI with new features

•   Improved design and usability
•   You can now enter custom names for your units (and save files)
•   You can see the day/night cycle and the current date (icon in the top right corner)
•   Improved the Manual UI

New equipment
•   Sniper squad
•   Molotov cocktail
•   Smoke grenade
•   Spaced armor
•   Searchlights (small, medium, big)

Equipment changes
Now incendiary bomb/shells and armor-piercing bombs/shells cost 0 Prestige to install on your unit, but instead each time you use them you have to spend:
3 Prestige for an Incendiary shell
5 Prestige for an Armor-piercing shell
5 Prestige for an Incendiary bomb
5 Prestige for an Armor-piercing bomb

Recon units can now use mortars and recoilless guns
Slight changes in various equipment stats and cost

Gameplay changes:
•   Reworked AI (it is less "suicidal" now).
•   If the unit has already attacked this turn it cannot change Equipment until the end of turn.
•   Reinforcement no longer costs Command points (only Prestige). Prestige cost is now x2 of what you would have had to spend at the end of the operation. (On default settings 40% of unit cost (it was 50% before)).
•   Removed experience cap (per turn) for all units
•   Increased the experience required to gain a 2-5th level
•   The maximum level for heroes is lowered from 10 to 5 (If you already had high-level heroes they will remain as before with all the skills, but will not be able to level up further. Also, their stats bonus is capped at +5.)
•   Now killing an enemy unit with a hero gives +50 Exp instead of +10.

New settings
•   You can now set the Unit speech volume separately from other sources
•   Fixed disable/enable hex grid option

New hotkeys
•   H; Show/hide hex grid
•   I; Show Unit info screen of the selected unit
•   Alt; Show unit outlines (if disabled)
•   F1; Show hotkeys list

Additionally, we fixed a number of bugs and added some other minor improvements along the way.

We will keep updating and supporting Strategic Mind: The Pacific as well as other titles of the Strategic Mind series. We are working on Polish localization and plan to add it soon.

We hope that we will enjoy playing the revamped version of the game. If there are still some issues left unfixed - make sure to let us know on the community hub.

With best regards

New Strategic Mind title

A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of communism. (c) Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto

https://youtu.be/cEGrDDG-ujo

Today we have great news for you guys!

We have got lots of feedback that you wanted to play as the USSR or Allied powers in Europe. So, we are planning to do both.
Today we are proud to announce our next project - Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism, depicting WW2 from the USSR’s perspective. Another project dedicated to Allies will be announced a bit later and will be developed after we finish the SM: Spectre of Communism.

As you know, our projects are deep and immersive, and we want to keep that and further improve on it. That is why we cannot do everything at once. Our ultimate goal is to cover all the WWII major powers and major battles. We slowly but steadily march on to that goal.

We would not have been able to continue with the Strategic Mind Franchise without your support guys - it is what keeps us going despite all the adversities.

In Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism you will follow the historical path from the Battle of Khalkin Gol versus the Japanese in 1938 up to the Battle of Berlin and Soviet invasion of Manchuria in 1945. Then you can keep playing the alternate history part in 1946 with the events unfolding after the WWII historical ending.

If you are interested in the USSR’s perspective on the WWII events, make sure to add the Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism to your wishlist, to keep track of any future announcements.

Improvements:
You can now change the difficulty settings before every operation (Suggested by the players' community)
Boarding any type of transport during the Deployment phase no longer requires command points.
Now, the completed objectives in the UI are shown as 3 numbers: (eg. 3/5/8, where 3 is the number of completed objectives, 5 - the number of failed objectives, and 8 is the total number of objectives (issued so far).

Fixes:

•   Fixed bug with multiple "Detected" messages when using HQ air recon skill to locate Submarines
•   The "Musashi" Battleship no longer retreats in the Battle of the Leyte Gulf.
•   Fixed the secondary objective with transport ships on Okinawa (it was impossible to fail)
•   Fixed bug on the Philippines map, where you could complete the objective to capture tanks by flying your aircraft over the designated hex.
•   Other bug fixes in various operations.

We are happy that every day the game becomes better and that community takes an active role in its improvement. We are sure that with your great suggestions and under your watchful eye, we can make the Strategic Mind series much better. There are still many good things that we want to implement (like the "Undo" button), but it takes time. So, we are working on it and will deliver it as soon as we can.

Looking forward to more feedback from you guys!

Strategic Mind Soundtrack Announcement
Wed, 8 July 2020

Become a hero who helps us expand the soundtrack for our future projects!

Many of you asked us to create a soundtrack for the game as a separate entity for your convenient use.

We listened to your idea and further improved it!

Not only will you be able to get all tracks from the Strategic Mind series, but you could also become a contributor to the soundtrack further expansion - all funds gathered in 2020 from soundtrack sales will be used exclusively for the production of the additional tracks, which will then be added to our games.

Today, we announce Strategic Mind Franchise Soundtrack. It will be released in two weeks on the 22 July 2020:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1358280/Strategic_Mind_Franchise_Soundtrack/

The soundtrack currently has all gameplay and cinematic tracks from Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg.

We will create a number of tracks for the upcoming Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism disregarding the soundtrack sales.

However, we have a limited budget and want to create more tracks then our finances allow. So, we want you to be able to participate in the soundtrack development and invest into more diverse set of tracks.

We will post a plan for possible community-funded tracks soon and hold several community votes allowing you to affect to final tracks list, so stay tuned.

The only downside is that we cannot add all the tracks from The Pacific, as for many of them we have a license only for one commercial product. This fact also caused trouble for the streamers and YouTubers, as the owner of the rights could take action against them. Starting from Blitzkrieg all our tracks are exclusive and we have all the rights, so that is no longer an issue.

Your contribution will help us to keep writing original soundtrack for the series and greatly expand it.

If you are interested in the soundtrack further evolvement - make sure you add it to your wishlist not to miss any important announcements.

With Best Regards

Games Gathering 2020 in Odessa
Fri, 10 July 2020
A report on our participation in the game conference

On July 4 we participated in the game development conference in Odessa, Ukraine. Despite the difficult situation with the pandemics, the organizers managed to hold a relatively small event taking all possible precautions.

Strani Games CEO and founder Ihor Tymoshenko, who also happens to be our lead programmer, is getting ready to travel to Odessa:

At the conference, there were two main activities that we took part in: the game presentation and the lecture for the attendees.

First, we presented our game to everyone interested:

Just before the event, we were approached by another company, proposing to join forces and present our games on their 150 cm wide diagonal touch screens:

The Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg looked awesome on a huge touch screen. You could literally feel yourself an army commander moving tokens symbolizing his troops across the headquarters table.

Secondly, we taught a lecture about the details of our recent controversy in Russia:

The audience was curious to know all the details of our controversial release and asked numerous questions:

After the lecture we went to the afterparty to talk to our colleagues in a more unofficial manner and forge new relations and contacts.

Overall, despite the event being small (due to obvious reasons), we had a lot of productive and insightful discussions and hope that it will help us with both our projects and the overall company development.

We will post some “secret” photos from the afterparty in future news updates, so stay tuned.

With best regards

Weekly report to keep you up to date with all the latest data

General!

Our undisputedly best in the world intelligence service has established the weekly reports to keep you up to date with all the latest data. Our agents will prepare a briefing on all the events, discounts, and news related to the Starni Games.

As the Chief of Staff, it is paramount that you have impeccable information on the ever-changing situation.

Strategic Mind: The Pacific 30% off — weeklong sale

Our undercover agents managed to infiltrate the Steam Store. They timely report that 13.07.20-19.07.20 there will be a hefty discount of Strategic Mind: The Pacific!

-30%  £23.79  £16.65

Strategic Mind Franchise Soundtrack is not what it looks like

At first, our agents thought that this was just an ordinary soundtrack announcement, but it turned out that it is only the tip of an iceberg.

Starni Games wants to greatly expand the existing soundtrack and improve it in future projects. So, the logical decision was to join forces with the community - 100% net revenue from soundtrack sales will go into its expansion.

If you buy the current version - you will get all the future track as well with no additional fee. When you buy the soundtrack you get all the current and future tracks, both gameplay and cinematic ones. You also help us create more tracks.

So, it is a win-win scenario.

Additionally, you get all the tracks in both mp3 and wave formats, so if you value quality recordings you can get the original files.

More detailed research can be found in our intelligence service library:

Starni Games were spotted at the Games Gathering 2020 Odessa game conference

Our agents in Ukraine informed us that the Starni Games top brass were sighted at the secret event held despite pandemics.

You can read the full report in the above post

However, here are some more jucy details for you.

After the conference conclusion, our agents tailed to said individuals to a unknown location where only the elected circle was admitted - to the afterparty.

Taking down a couple of sentries (they are alive) the agents managed to get exclusive footage of this secretive event and took pictures of Strani Games developers plotting their insidious plans.

...but this is where all sorts of sinister plots are devised. This time we overheard the developers planning to conquer the whole world.

This is it for this week’s report.

New VO and mocap setup

Hello guys!

Creating games is a challenging, creative and exciting process.

We decided to share with you what happens behind the scenes in our new series
of articles — Developers’ Diaries by Starni Games.

Recently, we have announced our next project Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism (to be released in Q4 2020). We are already working full steam on the project.

Last week we tested a new setup for mocap and sound recording: we tested two different microphones to decide what is the best way to record sound and animation for Spectre of Communism. Additionally, we had to decide whether to switch to an adjusted production process for mocap and VO.

We tested two microphones: stationary studio mic and DPA microphone lavalier.

Microphone lavalier is used on TV and in TV-series if the actor has to move a lot during the recording as it is very convenient and moves with the actor.

Studio stationary mic is used for music recording, podcasts and radio. It is fixed in place and cannot be used by a moving actor.

Despite the stationary mic providing finer details of the voice, we decided to use the lavalier mic as it offers high quality recording while also allows movement. It is extremely important for us as we will use the motion capture technologies to record the movements and facial animations of the actor and then transfer them to the game character. If we use a stationary mic, the sound will drop if the actor turns his head away from the mic to look at the other character.

Our cinematic director Constantine tries out the some of the motion capture equipment setup:

Our COO Oleksandr is adjusting the helmet with an attached Iphone, which is used to capture facial animations:

Some weird stuff happening during the tests. The good thing is that the issue was quickly solved:

The results of test

We decided to go for a new technical setup.

Old production process
Motion capture + preliminary VO made by one actor for all characters.
All other voice actors had to fit the preliminary VO and lip sync during the final VO.

Planned production process
Motion capture + final VO at the same time by every actor. We think this way the voice and animation will be a better match. The time will tell.

We hope that these adjustments and new mic will help us deliver the cinematics of higher quality in the upcoming project.

The VO + mocap sessions will start soon. We will keep you informed about our progress.

Your Starni Games team

Developers’ Diaries #2
Wed, 19 August 2020

Units’ speech review. Part 1

Since Panzer Strategy development we wanted to add unit lines — some things units will say at random commenting on the in-game events.

During the Strategic Mind: The Pacific development we finally had enough voice actors and other resources to fulfill our long-time plan.

The units' speech has arrived!

We added over 700 unique lines for the US units and over 700 lines for the Empire of Japan units.

US units

1. "The US military is the most professional".

https://youtu.be/o3pRc4jk7Oo

2. "We stand for democracy".

https://youtu.be/t2GhIuNpyZk

Japan units

1. "What does the Empire want us to do?"

https://youtu.be/fY1zyYGAqHI

2. "My life for the Emperor!"

https://youtu.be/NiRbiCdIV3Y

3. "Imperial Air Service".

https://youtu.be/oizxtT4WwTQ

We strive for diversity

Every class of units had its own set of lines and triggers, like: selection, movement, attack, killing an enemy, forcing the enemy to retreat, low/out of ammo/fuel, enemy spotted, etc. Here are some of them:

1. "We running out of ammo. Arrows won't fly if the quiver is empty".

https://youtu.be/MMx4sQoscFg

2. "We running out of fuel supplies, Sir".

https://youtu.be/UJfCJ0bM4S8

3. "Enemy down!"

https://youtu.be/_ifzh35ZA9A

Unique in everything!

We had 12 core classes for each side, and a special class — B-29 bombers for the US and kamikaze units for Japan.

B-29 bombers

"Superfortress at your service!"

https://youtu.be/-0BCEaUHmgE

Kamikaze units

"Banzai!"

https://youtu.be/Hw0cP41K9H8

HQ skills

We, also, added lines for HQ skills usage:

1. All guns ready!

https://youtu.be/nfHXmpDFL6A

2. Get ready to fire again!

https://youtu.be/X1JqJRD_p1A

3. Verifying the enemy's location.

https://youtu.be/cad9AmihlkY

Yes, Sir!

We wanted the lines to be quite diverse — not to get repetitive fast. Yet there are only so many military commands, lines like “Yes, Sir”, that would sound 100% natural.

https://youtu.be/o0se-mEH5Yo

At the same time, hearing “Yes, Sir” all the time sounds really boring. So, we decided to experiment and add a wide range of phrases, some of them of humorous nature.

https://youtu.be/98z6IUtDqxo

Community feedback

The community reaction varied — many did not like our approach. We think that those who do not like unit lines can switch them off in the options easily, while many other players who, like us, think that these lines bring additional diversity and fun into the game can play with them on and enjoy the game even more.

From our experience, when you play the game with units’ speech on, quite often there will be moments when the unit’s comment will fit the situation so neatly, that you start to wonder, is it not directed by some sort of AI? These moments are often quite hilarious.

Please, let us know what are your impressions and experience with the unit speech.

We will tell you more about the units’ speech in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg in the next issue of our Developers’ Diaries.

Looking forward to your feedback

Update 3.04
Fri, 28 August 2020

Polish localization, Leaderboards and Steam Community items added. Bugs fixed.

Polish localization
Added full Polish text localization.

Leaderboards
As promised, we added Steam Leaderboards. Only the progress made after the 3.04 update will be counted.

After each operation, your victory points score is multiplied by the difficulty multiplier (ranging 6-50), allowing you to get up to 20 000 points per operation. All operation scores in one playthrough are added. So, by completing a full campaign on Challenging difficulty you will get 200 000 points out of 400 000 maximum (max custom difficulty).

Community items
As promised, we added Steam Community items: trading cards, badges, wallpapers, and emoticons. If you want to know more about it, stay tuned for the next issues of our Developers’ Diaries, where we will go into more detail.

Bug fixes:
•   Fixed camera centering on the selected unit by double click on it. Previously, it did not work in certain situations.
•   Fixed incorrect descriptions for US global flags with bonuses to Strategic aviation.

Gameplay changes:
•   Doris Miller now requires dealing 20 damage versus aircraft instead of 30. Note that it counts only lethal damage.
•   Added a second trigger to Iwo-Jima’s secondary objective about enemy hideouts. Now, you cannot miss that objective.

We will keep working on adding new features and fixing any issues you report.

With best regards
Starni Games team

Admiral!

Today we bring Strategic Mind: The Pacific up to date with the upcoming Strategic Mind: Spectre of Communism title. We introduce a most-wanted feature, judging by the volume of players’ requests for it, the Undo move button.

Undo move
Added the “Undo move” button. It allows you to retrace your unit's last movement. It is eligible, only if you want to change your last movement and the movement did not affect the current tactical situation. It is not eligible if: an attack happened, the spotting has changed, the objective status has changed, the unit embarked/disembarked, etc.

Optimization
We are working on optimizing the game performance. So, far we successfully implemented a number of improvements. Some are still underway and will be added in future updates, as we keep working on the Strategic Mind series.

Other changes
This changelog is not an exhaustive list of changes, some minor improvements in other areas were also made, some bugs were fixed, and some localization inaccuracies corrected.
We have also added the widgets of the other games of the Strategic Mind series. While some of you may feel unhappy about it, please, bear in mind that it is the only 100% reliable way for us to let you know about the new title coming up.

We look forward to more feedback from you!

With best regards

Changes:

•  Fixed major performance issues in all operations where the Radar towers (RLS) were on the map. (Huge thanks to Steevodeevo for noticing and reporting this issue)
•  Reverted experience requirements for all levels to values present at release. Those were raised during the Blitzkrieg release update and not adjusted properly. So, now leveling up units is easier again allowing you to enjoy high-level units. (Huge thanks to asura-223).

We will keep polishing and improving the game.

•   The “End turn” button was moved to the top-right corner of the screen to minimize the possibility of clicking it by accident.
•   Reworked lighting during all types of turns: day time / night time, rain, etc.
•   Some visual changes.

Fixes:
•   Mines no longer gain +1 Spotting during the Night.
•   The “Undo” button can no longer be used after the aircraft units landing or take-off.
•   Other minor issues.

This is not the full list of changes that we plan to deliver, so stay tuned for more fixes and improvements to come.

We will keep polishing and improving the game.

Looking forward to more feedback

With best regards
Starni Games team

Hello, guys!

This is the sixth episode of the Developer's gameplay series by our team and it features the Attack on Pearl Harbor scenario from the Strategic Mind: The Pacific. In this episode, we will take charge of the Empire of Japan and attack the unsuspecting US base on Hawaii - Pearl Harbor. This event has led to the US entering WW2, so at the moment of the attack, it was not at war. This is represented in the operation, as the vast majority of the enemy units cannot fight back effectively in the first few turns. That should be more than enough to let you deal a decisive blow to the enemy base and retreat. Although, if your plan of attack did not get the priorities set right, you might find your surprise attack turning into a complete disaster really fast.

About the Developer’s gameplay series
This is a Developer’s gameplay series by Starni Games. In these episodes the Lead game designer of the Strategic Mind series Oleksandr plays our games with the commentary, explaining the game mechanics and telling you more about the game development process.
