The game is created with great care and attention to historical details by a team that is passionate about WW2 history. The cinematics before and after every operation add depth and immersion into the events unfolding before your eyes. Moreover, a number of primary and secondary objectives allow you to explore every scenario in detail. The gameplay is plot-driven and features many historical personalities such as Franz Halder, Heinz Guderian, Erich von Manstein, Erwin Rommel, Karl Dönitz, Wilhelm Canaris, Hermann Göring and others.

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg is the second installment in the Strategic Mind line of games. While “The Pacific” was more about naval warfare, the “Blitzkrieg” brings us all into the continental battles fought by the German troops. As a part of the Strategic Mind franchise, it will retain many features of the series along with adding new content and features to the existing variety.

Key features:

•   You will have the opportunity to command ground, air, and naval forces with the emphasis on the land battles.
•   Modern 3D graphics brought by UE4 engine with detailed models of all the units, day/night cycle and weather effects.
•   You can upgrade and customize your troops by leveling them up and selecting skills that best suit your strategy. Moreover, you can equip your troops with additional equipment for each operation to better suit both your strategy and the war theatre.
•   You will gain a number of awards throughout the game and get access to unique HQ skills, which you can learn to increase the efficiency and synergy of your troops.
•   You can acquire new units of various types, or upgrade your existing ones. All new units and equipment are available at historically accurate moments of the campaign.
•   You can take numerous trophies and use some of the enemy`s most advanced units against him in future battles.
•   While we strive for historical accuracy, we also allow you to explore various “what if’s” and see what could have happened should the German Armed forces be even more successful in their struggle for dominance over the European continent.
•   Storytelling cinematics, as well as in-operation dialogues with full voice over, will help you get a better feeling of the epochal events.
•   Full content, no “pre-made DLC nonsense” and long-term support. You pay once for a full game and enjoy all the benefits without any additional pesky transactions. That includes new updates and some additional content and support along the way. While we reserve the right to add extra DLC content in the future, that will in no way take away from you the whole experience of the game.

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg vs Panzer Strategy
Thu, 30 January 2020

Comparative table
Previously we have announced our new title Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg. It will cover the German campaigns from 1938 to 1944 with the majority of operations being historical and several alternate history ones in one twenty-operations-long campaign.

The game will be based on Strategic Mind series mechanics, but unlike “The Pacific” it will feature mostly land operations and lots of new units, content, and features.

For all those wondering how would Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg would differ from our previous game Panzer Strategy, we prepared a list of all major differences.

Episode 1: Stalin`s Sledgehammer

The Soviet heavy 203 mm howitzer M1931 (B-4) (Russian: 203-мм гаубица обр. 1931 г. (Б-4)) compared to the German 150 mm sFH - one of the most numerous German field artillery guns.

This B-4 monster was packing an extremely heavy punch and had a solid firing range of 18 kilometers (compared to the 13 kilometers of 150 mm sFH). It was first used in combat during the Winter War of 1939-1940.

“The B-4 was called the "Karelia Sculptor" as Finnish pillboxes hit were virtually turned into a bizarre hodge-podge of concrete chunks and iron armatures.”

It was later used against Germany when its Armed forces invaded USSR in June 1941. The German soldiers were greatly impressed by such a powerful artillery shelling and started to call this artillery piece "Stalin's sledgehammer".

Yer it was only 3 days into the war when the German soldiers found themselves a bunch of “Sledgehammers” to toy with.

“23 B-4's were captured by the German 11th Panzer Division as the town of Dubno was captured at nighttime on June 25, 1941.”

We do not want to spoil you the gameplay of the Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg too much, but what we can say is that: “Captured B-4's used by the Wehrmacht were given the designation 20,3 cm H.503(r)”

Episode 2. Erwin Rommel

“One must not judge everyone in the world by his qualities as a soldier: otherwise we should have no civilization.” (c) Erwin Rommel

Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel was one of the most prominent German commanders. “Popularly known as the Desert Fox, he served as field marshal in the Wehrmacht (Defense Force) of Nazi Germany during World War II, as well as serving in the Reichswehr of the Weimar Republic, and the army of Imperial Germany.”

“War without Hate”. (c) Erwin Rommel

Rommel went through both World War I and World War II with an impressive service record both in infantry and panzer forces.

“Among his British adversaries he had a reputation for chivalry, and his phrase "war without hate" has been used to describe the North African campaign.”

“Mortal danger is an effective antidote for fixed ideas.” (c) Erwin Rommel

Despite being an ardent supporter in Hitler in the 1930-s, Rommel remained true to the officer’s honor and was against the atrocities of Nazi regime.

“In 1944, Rommel was implicated in the 20 July plot to assassinate Hitler. Because of Rommel's status as a national hero, Hitler desired to eliminate him quietly instead of immediately executing him, as many other plotters were. Rommel was given a choice between committing suicide, in return for assurances that his reputation would remain intact and that his family would not be persecuted following his death, or facing a trial that would result in his disgrace and execution; he chose the former and committed suicide using a cyanide pill Rommel was given a state funeral, and it was announced that he had succumbed to his injuries from the strafing of his staff car in Normandy.”

Episode 3. The first operational jet fighter

Messerschmitt Me 262 - is the first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft in the world.

It was fully introduced in April 1944. Despite its superior speed and firepower, it could not turn the tide of aerial combat, due to low production figures.

In Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg you will be able to take this matter into your own hands and explore the endless possibilities of what could have happened if, through the war, the German military leadership was headed by a more capable person.

First shots of WWII
Wed, 4 March 2020

In August 1939 Schleswig-Holstein had been positioned in the port of Danzig, moored close to the Polish ammunition depot at Westerplatte under the guise of a ceremonial visit.

In the early morning hours of 1 September, 1939 Schleswig-Holstein bombarded the Polish base at Danzig's Westerplatte. So, She fired the first shots of WWII.

This is how it happened:

Although there are port cranes in both pictures, it's just a coincidence, we have not sought such historical authenticity :)

My measures will not be crippled by any bureaucracy. Here I don't have to worry about Justice; my mission is only to destroy and to exterminate; nothing more. (c) Hermann Goering Speech in Frankfurt (3 March 1933)

“Hermann Wilhelm Göring (or Goering German: [ˈɡø:ʁɪŋ]) was a German political and military leader as well as one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party (NSDAP), which ruled Germany from 1933 to 1945. A veteran World War I fighter pilot ace, he was a recipient of the Pour le Mérite.”

Guns will make us powerful; butter will only make us fat. (c) Hermann Goering Radio broadcast (1936)

“An early member of the Nazi Party, Göring was among those wounded in Adolf Hitler's failed Beer Hall Putsch in 1923. While receiving treatment for his injuries, he developed an addiction to morphine which persisted until the last year of his life.

After Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, Göring was named as Minister Without Portfolio in the new government. One of his first acts as a cabinet minister was to oversee the creation of the Gestapo, which he ceded to Heinrich Himmler in 1934.

Following the establishment of the Nazi state, Göring amassed power and political capital to become the second most powerful man in Germany. He was appointed commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe (air force), a position he held until the final days of the regime.

Upon being named Plenipotentiary of the Four Year Plan in 1936, Göring was entrusted with the task of mobilizing all sectors of the economy for war, an assignment which brought numerous government agencies under his control and helped him become one of the wealthiest men in the country.”

Shoot first and inquire afterwards, and if you make mistakes, I will protect you. (c) Hermann Goering Instruction to the Prussian police (1933)

“In September 1939 Hitler designated him as his successor and deputy in all his offices. After the Fall of France in 1940, he was bestowed the specially created rank of Reichsmarschall, which gave him seniority over all officers in Germany's armed forces.”

The victor will always be the judge, and the vanquished the accused. (c) Hermann Goering

“After the war, Göring was convicted of conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg trials in 1946. He was sentenced to death by hanging but committed suicide by ingesting cyanide hours before the sentence was to be carried out.”

Operation Weserübung

First, you will have to capture Denmark, to obtain a convenient staging area for the landing operation against Norway.

Upon capturing Denmark you can proceed with boarding your troops on transport ships and your paratroopers on transport aircraft. These forces then can land in Norway to continue the offensive. Nighttime might be an opportune moment for troops redeployment.

Ensure that you have redeployed enough troops to Norway and continue the onslaught.

You will also have to hold hast against the superior British Navy. You will have to perfect your tactics and unit coordination to repel the naval attack. Another way to make your life easier would be to use Ju-88 aircraft equipped with torpedoes to support your Kriegsmarine efforts with Luftwaffe units.

At the same time, you will have to continue the land invasion of Norway, where your enemies would be both stout Norwegian resistance and difficult terrain.

! Please note, that this early footage is a “work-in-progress” and it may be improved before the game release.

Episode 4. Lend-lease units

The Lend-lease or the equipment supplies from Great Britain and the US to the USSR have played a pivotal role in the course of WW2 in Europe.

When German troops invaded the USSR, and their swift advance became apparent, Allies decided to support the USSR however they could to prevent Germany from establishing total domination in Europe.

The first tanks and aircraft units armed with lend-lease machinery reached the frontlines during the Battle of Moscow’s early stages in autumn 1941.

Here you can see the British Matilda II tanks as well as US M3 Stuart and M4 Sherman models. While Matildas and Stuarts were available in 1941, M4 Shermans joined the fray later on in the war.

“By the end of 1941, early shipments of Matilda, Valentine and Tetrarch tanks represented only 6.5% of total Soviet tank production but over 25% of medium and heavy tanks produced for the Red Army.

The British tanks first saw action with the 138 Independent Tank Battalion in the Volga Reservoir on November 20, 1941. Lend-Lease tanks constituted 30 to 40 percent of heavy and medium tank strength before Moscow at the beginning of December 1941.”

Aircraft were also instrumental in tipping the scales in USSR’s favor. British Spitfires and US Airacobras were common lend-lease models to be delivered to the USSR.

Episode 3. Franz Halder

“There were daily quarrels all summer. The point upon which we had our final disagreement was the decision of an offensive on the Caucasus and Stalingrad - a mistake, and Hitler didn't want to see it. I told him the Russians would put in another million men in 1942 and get another million in 1943. Hitler told me that I was an idiot - that the Russians were practically dead already. When I told Hitler about Russian armament potentials, especially for tank materials, Hitler flew into a rage of fury and threatened me with his fists.” (c) Franz Halder, April 12, 1946, from "The Nuremberg Interviews" by Leon Goldensohn

Franz Halder was appointed Chief of the Army General Staff on 1 September 1938, precisely a year before the start of WW2. Halder was reluctant to wage aggressive war on multiple fronts, but he chose to follow orders and keep his oath of loyalty. Despite following Hitler’s orders, he often criticized Fuhrer’s ideas and often tried to argue with him about war plans - a thing almost nonexistent closer to the end of the war.

“The Führer confirms my impressions of yesterday. He would like an understanding with Great Britain. He knows that war with the British will be hard and bloody, and knows also that people everywhere today are averse to bloodshed.” (c) Franz Halder, May 30, 1940 diary entry

Even after the occupation of France, many German generals harbored hopes for peace negotiations soon to follow, and the cessation of all hostilities, especially against the British Empire. That would have probably been the most prudent course of action at that moment. It seems Halder was sharing this point of view.

“The Russian colossus...has been underestimated by us...whenever a dozen divisions are destroyed the Russians replace them with another dozen.” (c) Franz Halder, August 1941

After the German Blitzkrieg has finally bogged down in Russia, and upon several attempts to renew the offensive in 1942, which had very limited success, in September 1942 Hitler removed Halder from command and retired him to the Führer Reserve.

“Whenever I go and see the Führer, I've got a loaded pistol in my pocket.” (c) Franz Halder, explaining his fear of Hitler

“On 23 July 1944, after the failed 20 July assassination attempt on Hitler's life by German Army officers, the Gestapo arrested Halder. He was imprisoned at both the Flossenbürg and Dachau concentration camps. On 5 May 1945, Halder was arrested by the advancing American troops and was interned awaiting trial or release. He was relieved not to be part of the Nuremberg Trials; instead, he was tried in a German court on charges of aiding the Nazi regime. Halder denied any knowledge of the regime's atrocities and claimed to be outside the decision-making process; he was found not guilty.”

“During the trial, the prosecuting attorney gained access to Halder's personal diary which detailed his formulation of the Barbarossa Decree and Commissar Order so he was subsequently sent for retrial. Halder was working for the American Historical Division providing information on the Soviet Union, and the Americans refused to allow the retrial. It was dropped in September 1950.”

“Rear Admiral Walter Ansel who had worked with Halder while researching Operation Sealion, the planned Invasion of England, recommended he become an associate of the United States Naval Institute. In 1961 Halder was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for this work. This award was bestowed by Major General Edgar C. Doleman on behalf of President John F. Kennedy. Halder thus became the only German to be decorated by both Adolf Hitler and an American president. (He had received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross from Hitler in 1939.)”

Episode 4. Heinz Guderian

“There are no desperate situations, there are only desperate people.” (c) Heinz Guderian

“Heinz Wilhelm Guderian was a German general during World War II who, after the war, became a successful memoirist. An early pioneer and advocate of the "Blitzkrieg" approach, he played a central role in the development of the panzer division concept. In 1936, he became the Inspector of Motorized Troops.

At the beginning of the Second World War, Guderian led an armored corps in the Invasion of Poland. During the Invasion of France, he commanded the armored units that attacked through the Ardennes forest and overwhelmed the Allied defenses at the Battle of Sedan. He led the 2nd Panzer Army during Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. The campaign ended in failure after the German offensive Operation Typhoon failed to capture Moscow, after which Guderian was dismissed.”

“To imitate the ostrich in political matters has never been a satisfactory method of avoiding danger; yet this is what Hitler, as well as his more important political, economic and even military advisers, chose to do over and over again.” (c) Heinz Guderian

His dismissal was partially due to his outspoken manner (even in front of Hitler), and partially due to him disregarding the high command orders if he saw them unfit (usually he would ignore them to save his men from certain death, in case of his timely retreat during the Battle of Moscow, or to the contrary - he would carry on with the unauthorized attack to keep the initiative and momentum and thus minimize his units losses during the offensive).

“You hit somebody with your fist and not with your fingers spread.” (c) Heinz Guderian

Guderian was a prominent advocate of armored units and their offensive employment. In Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg tanks will also play a major role - being an ideal unit for swift offensives due to high movement points, tracked movement type, high defense/attack values, and the Overrun ability.

Unlike many other games, in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg almost all the tank models (except those having only small-caliber guns, like Panzer II) have an attack range of 2, allowing you much more tactical freedom - your panzers can attack from a distance with a range penalty, or perform a frontal assault depending on the situation.

Stay tuned for more information about new content and game development progress.

Episode 5. Tiger and Königstiger

Tiger tanks entered the war in late 1942 as an answer to the powerful Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks as well as T-34 medium tanks, which were far superior to the German Panzer III and Panzer IV of that time in terms of both armor and armament.

In 1941 the Wehrmacht was unpleasantly surprised with the achievements of the Soviet tank building industry and was forces to look for the new tank models to counter the enemy’s heavier tanks with bigger caliber guns.

There were two main solutions: 1) upgrade the existing production lines for Panzer IV tanks to produce newer models with bigger guns and better armament. 2) Create fully new tank designs from scratch, which resulted in heavy Tiger tanks and medium Panther tanks.
Germany proceeded with both these solutions.

The downside was that the German industry lacked the resourced to mass-produce these new tanks in large enough quantities. Thus their deployment was in low numbers and quite sporadic, which dramatically lowered their potential impact on the overall course of the war.
In Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg you will be able to fit your tank troops with Tiger tanks right before the Battle of Stalingrad.

Tiger II (or Königstiger) was an even more powerful version of Tiger tanks that entered the war only in 1944 and in relatively small numbers. Thus we were unable to present them to you in our previous project - Panzer Strategy.

This time, however, the last operation will feature several Königstiger units. We are not happy that the players will only get to command these beasts for a short time but that is what making a historically accurate game means… Still, we hope that you will enjoy seeing and commanding this rare guest on the battlefield.

Episode 6. V-1 Flying bomb

“The V-1 flying bomb (German: Vergeltungswaffe 1 "Vengeance Weapon 1") — also known to the Allies as the buzz bomb, or doodlebug, and in Germany as Kirschkern (cherry stone) or Maikäfer (maybug), as well as by its official RLM aircraft designation of Fi 103 — was an early cruise missile and the only production aircraft to use a pulsejet for power.”

First employed in 1944 this weapon was aimed at laying waste to the United Kingdom and forcing it to surrender. However, its combat potential was overestimated. A high percentage was destroyed by the anti-aircraft defense forces. According to Albert Speer’s memoirs, it was not more effective than the conventional bombers bombing runs, in fact even less so, in terms of payload.

Still, it was a new and revolutionary technology of the time. Many German scientists who worked on the V-1 and V-2 projects moved to the US after the war as part of Operation Paperclip. For example, Wernher von Braun. In 1960, his group was assimilated into NASA, where he served as director of the newly formed Marshall Space Flight Center and as the chief architect of the Saturn V super heavy-lift launch vehicle that propelled the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon. In 1967, von Braun was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering, and in 1975, he received the National Medal of Science.

In Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg this weapon is represented as a Headquarters ability to launch such missiles at a target. However, it becomes available only at the very end of the game for the last couple of battles. We hope that this will be an interesting new experience for the players.

Episode 5. Erich von Manstein

“The will for victory which gives a commander the strength to see a grave crisis through is something very different from Hitler's will, which in the last analysis stemmed from a belief in his own 'mission'.” (c) Erich von Manstein, in “Lost Victories” memoirs.

Fritz Erich Georg Eduard von Manstein (24 November 1887 – 9 June 1973) was a German commander of the Wehrmacht. He attained the rank of field marshal.

One of the most prominent German strategists of the time. Adolf Hitler chose Manstein's strategy for the invasion of France in May 1940.

“But it is a well-known maxim of war that whoever tries to hold on to everything at once, finishes up by holding nothing at all.” (c) Erich von Manstein, in “Lost Victories” memoirs.

Germany's fortunes in the war had taken an unfavorable turn in December 1941, and in the following year during the catastrophic Battle of Stalingrad, Manstein commanded a failed relief effort ("Operation Winter Storm") in December.

Later known as the "backhand blow", Manstein's counteroffensive in the Third Battle of Kharkov (February–March 1943) regained substantial territory and resulted in the destruction of three Soviet armies and the retreat of three others.

He was one of the primary commanders at the Battle of Kursk (July–August 1943). His ongoing disagreements with Hitler over the conduct of the war led to his dismissal in March 1944. He never obtained another command and was taken prisoner by the British in August 1945, several months after Germany's defeat.

During the Africa campaign, German troops were facing British Matilda II heavy tanks, which posed a serious threat as their armor was too tough for the majority of anti-tank guns at the beginning of the war.

New class in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg - Assault gun
Sat, 18 April 2020

We decided to create a separate class of units - Assult guns to underline the key features of this type of combat units. In Strategic mind Blitzkrieg Assault guns are self-propelled armored artillery units that are designed to provide frontline fire support and destroy the enemy fortifications and well-entrenched positions.

Assault guns have lower Gun range than ordinary Artillery but they are more mobile, have better protection and a number of special skills making them a great tool for storming cities and heavily fortified positions. Additionally, if there is an Infantry unit in the adjacent hex, Assault guns do not suffer Close quarters penalty for Armored units in difficult terrain - the Infantry protects them. Thus it is important to combine your troops properly to ensure quick and efficient storming of the enemy positions.

We hope that these changes will make adding Assault guns to your army a much more viable choice.

German paratroopers got behind the defenders’ lines and are getting ready to throw hand granades.
“The German Air Ministry was shocked by the number of transport aircraft lost in the battle. General Student, reflecting on the casualties suffered by the paratroopers, concluded after the war that Crete was the death of the airborne force. Hitler, believing airborne forces to be a weapon of surprise which had now lost that advantage, concluded that the days of the airborne corps were over and directed that paratroopers should be employed as ground-based troops in subsequent operations in the Soviet Union.”

Almost 80 years ago, on 10 May 1940, German and Italian troops started an offensive operation against France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg and British Expeditionary Force. The operation involved massive tank troops invasion through the Ardennes forests and difficult terrain - a course of action totally alien to the military thought of the time.

Panzer Strategy is the first game of Starni Games on Steam and was released in August 2018. We have come a long way since then and now is the time to look back, even if only for a second.

Today, we will compare the old models with their modern counterparts. The final judgment is up to you. Let us know in the comments below.

This is Erich von Manstein in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg

Today we are comparing the models. However, it is but an example of the numerous changes we made in cinematic production: new animation technologies, the addition of photo scans for our outdoor locations, and much more.

This is Adolf Hitler in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg

We work hard to improve the quality of all aspects of the game.

This is Franz Halder in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg

Moreover, Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg features totally new characters, such as Hermann Goering, Karl Doenitz, and Wilhelm Canaris.

For all of you who wonder when the release date will become available, we have good news. Next week we will finally announce the release date for Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg and, yes, it will be in Spring 2020. So stay tuned, not to miss the announcement.

Important note for the Strategic Mind: The Pacific players!
As we have stated before, we plan to transfer many new mechanics and UI improvements from Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg into the Strategic Mind: The Pacific. However, that process will take some time, as we will have to make sure all the new features work well within the Pacific setting. So, after the Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg release we will get down to work and after some time make a major update bringing Strategic Mind: The Pacific up to date with the Blitzkrieg.

Stay tuned for more information about new content and features.

Players feedback inspired features in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg
Wed, May 13, 2020

Units naming, a new set of controls, hex grid off hotkey, and other features.

Since the Panzer Strategy release in 2018, we were gathering lots of valuable feedback from the players. Some things we could implement fast, for others we had to do extensive preliminary work. Thus, we always note what the players ask for and try to implement it as soon as we have the opportunity.

Strategic Mind: The Pacific development allowed us to implement many (but not all) of the community suggestions both from Panzer Strategy and from The Pacific early access period. Among the new features, added due to your feedback were:
Detailed combat prediction window
Many hints, explanations, and Manual (far from perfect, but a good start)
Terrain and infrastructure info
Naval combat tutorial
Further camera zoom option.
Units speech, zoom-in on unit renders, and others.

However, there were still more things that we wanted to implement but they required more time and preparations. So, we got some of them ready for the Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg release, namely:
You can now rename your units with custom names. (and the save files)
You can two choose between two sets of Controls: Modern (new) and Legacy (old).
Modern (Unit selection - Left mouse button, Attack/Movement - Right mouse button, Open unit info screen - Middle mouse button (or I hotkey, or left-click on corresponding UI button))
Legacy (Unit selection - Left mouse button, Attack/Movement - Left mouse button, Open unit info screen - Right mouse button (or I hotkey, or left-click on corresponding UI button))
Added detailed 5-part tutorial for land operations
UI polish and improvements
Added calendar button indication Day/Night cycle
You can turn on/off the hex grid not only in the Settings but also with the H hotkey.
Added a separate setting for unit speech volume.
Improved Manual UI (We will keep improving it further in the future)

All these features were brought by a combination of you being interested in our games, actively sending us lots of feedback and great suggestions, and by our willingness to listen to the community and improve our games together. We will keep adding new features and polishing the existing ones.

There are still many features that we want to add, but up to now lacked the time and resources to implement. The top two things on our “to-do” list right now are the integration of Steam cloud saves and Steam achievements. No ETA on these, but we will surely add them as soon as we can.

New class in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg
Sat, May 16, 2020

Armored train

Yet another class is added to Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg. Previously, we told you about the Sturm Artillery as a separate class with its own unique features. Now, we will tell you more about another new class of player-controlled units - armored trains.

The armored train is basically a mixture of an artillery unit and a highly mobile armored vehicle. It is very powerful as it combines a long firing range of artillery units and their firepower with tank’s mobility and armor. However, it has a huge downside as well, as it can move only by rail. Thus, despite having the highest number of Move points among all ground units, it cannot reach certain locations on the map, or can even be totally out of commission for some operations.

The armored train is somewhat similar to naval units, as it also has several parts: Hull, Main gun, Engine with their respective HP. Some models also have AA guns. It also has a Maintenance unit and Emergency repair. Additionally, all its move points are added to its defense, but if its Engine is damaged it loses all move points, thus becoming an easy target for the enemy troops.

You can capture one Armored train in Poland, and one later on in USSR. Additionally, you can acquire one for prestige after Poland, and one more before the Barbarossa operation. Thus, you can have up to 4 armored trains under your command in the later part of the campaign.

We hope that you will like the idea of employing armored trains in your army as much as we do. Let us know what you think of this new addition in the comments below.

The release date is very close so, do not forget to wishlist Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg to show us your interest in the project and not miss the release date. Stay tuned for more information about new content and game development progress.

Steam Cloud saves added in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg and other news

In one of the recent news updates, we told that our top priorities were to add the Steam Cloud integration and Steam achievements. We made the first step and today we are happy to inform you that Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg will support Steam Cloud allowing you to store save files in it, so you won’t lose them in case of force majeure and can easily transfer them between the devices. It might not look like a huge addition, but it is an important quality of life improvement (It will soon be added to Strategic Mind: The Pacific as well). Our next goal is to add Steam achievements, but there is no ETA at the moment. Let us know in the comments what other features should be our top priority in your opinion.

Today, a day before the release, we want to look back at the production process and compare Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg with Strategic Mind: The Pacific. Let us look into what key features and improvements were added in the second installment of the project.

•   Better narrative integration (eg. objectives to deal with enemy heroes)
•   More detailed tutorials

Game mechanics:

•   Refined the existing set of core mechanics
•   Added two new player-controlled classes of units with their respective skill sets. (Assault guns and Armored trains)
•   Added new skills and equipment
•   Added more weather effects
•   More HQ skills (including V-1 Flying bomb)

Graphics:

•   New visuals close in style to The Pacific but adjusted for the European theatre of operations
•   New unit models
•   More visual changes tied to day/night cycle (Light in the houses, searchlights, etc)

Cinematics:

•   Improved motion capture technology and pipeline
•   Outdoor scenes created with photo scans usage
•   Improved character models

User interface:

•   Full revamp of the UI
•   A new set of controls and other new game settings

•   More hotkeys

Additional features:

•   Steam Cloud support
•   Nvidia Geforce NOW support
•   Text localization for 8 languages (It was 6 at the Strategic Mind: The Pacific release)

Many of these changes will be retrospectively added into Strategic Mind: The Pacific with the upcoming update.

The release date for Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg is 22 May 2020 at 12.00 PM PDT (21.00 CEST). We look forward to seeing you in-game and on our Community hub.

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg has begun! And update for The Pacific on the horizon
Fri, 22 May 2020

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg release date is upon us. Strategic Mind: The Pacific update is close as well
The second Strategic Mind series installment is upon us, so we would like to treat you all with one of our cinematics:

https://youtu.be/MkgWJ2mzjGs

In this video, we present part of the in-game cinematic after the victory in the Battle of Moscow. Do not worry that this might be the ending spoiler - as this happens after the 15th operation out of 20. So, you have 5 more battles and 25-30% of all content still ahead of you. Our campaign has 20 operations, 16 historical, and 4 alternate history (including Sea Lion and Herkules). However, in some of the 16 historical ones you can get a better outcome.

Our whole team at Starni Games and all the people involved in the Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg development have worked very hard to deliver you the best game we can. Now the time has come for you to evaluate our work. Let us know what is well-done and what needs to be further improved. Your feedback has always been the main source of our inspiration and our performance benchmark. We want to further develop and improve the game - so, please, join us at the community hub and let us discuss what we all have and what we all want.

As for Strategic Mind: The Pacific - we will bring it up to date with the majority of new features within a reasonable time, so stay tuned for further announcements.

If you are curious to play the Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg - we welcome you!

Update 1.09
Sun, June 7, 2020

Summary of the updates delivered over the last 2 days

Update 1.09

Patch notes:
- Fixed the previous update mistake (with random generation set to 0 and incorrect lethal-nonlethal damage distribution) We are sorry for our mistake. We plan to add the randomness setting in the future. (Huge thanks to "jurand36" for noticing the problem and pointing that out to us)
- Fixed crash on Crete secondary objective (about civilians). However, there are still some issues remaining with that objective: air recon triggers civilians to become conscripts (should be only land units) and autosave missing this objective. We are working on these issues and will fix them in the upcoming updates. (Reported by: "dragoon2008", "Legatus", "polinich-il")
- Rebalanced Crete: reduced the number of noncore aircraft units, but it now has a higher level and overstrength.
- Fixed "Esc" button not skipping cinematics and character speech in Headquarters.
- Fixed "tick" sings on Heroes ready for assignment sometimes disappearing.
- Changed Victory points cost of "Heavy air transport" ability from 300 to 400 points.
- Changed trophy tank on Leningrad from KV-1 to KV-2 (as was originally intended). (Reported by "Doctrine")
- Changed enemy forces flags in the 20th operation.
- Stalingrad operation: 1) fixed unit counters in some secondary objectives; 2) Soviet Command posts now summon Conscripts instead of Regulars; 3) fixed pointers.
- 20th operation: 1) added SS-troops; 2) changed civilians' behavior; 3) changed Tiger to Koenigstiger in secondary objective; 4) fixed pointers.
- Kursk operation: 1) fixed secondary objectives giving only 95 points (instead of 100); 2) added pointers.
- 19th operation: added pointers.

We are aware of the current issue with the 3rd tutorial and are working on fixing this new issue.
Apart from fixes and polishing, we plan to make a bit bigger update next week, which will also add a bit of new stuff (equipment etc.) Also, we look closely at all the feedback from you guys and will do our best to implement the best suggestions at some point.
On a side note, there was a request for us post the full list of scenarios, so we will post that tomorrow.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all players who actively offer us all sorts of invaluable feedback. We encourage you to keep doing so. Together we can make an even better game.

We look forward to both reading more feedback from you guys on our Community hub and adding more polish to the game. See you soon!

Update 1.10
Tue, June 9, 2020

A number of important fixes and additional polishing

Patch notes:

- Fixed the crash when using the V-1 Flying bomb with the HQ skill. (Reported by [PBS]mmtt and others)
- Fixed the 3rd tutorial not working properly. (Reported by: "MatthewT")
- Fixed: now you cannot discard the equipment if the unit have already attacked this turn (instead of not being able to acquire). (Reported by: "MatthewT")
- Fixed crash when finishing the Tobruk operation (Reported by "Jurand36")
- Fixed Air recon triggering civilians on Crete to become Conscripts (and failing secondary objective). Now only ground unit's presence can turn them into Conscripts. (You have to attack civilians in close combat to disarm them peacefully, before they had time to take arms)
- Fixed towed artillery not having Sluggish (negative) skill. (It gives the unit attacking it in close combat First strike) So, now tanks of Infantry attacking Artillery from the adjacent hex will have an advantage. At the same time, your Artillery will also become more vulnerable to enemy attacks. (Note that the unit acquired before the update will not have this skill until the end of the campaign. Enemy units will have it only when you start the new operation) (Reported by: "Doctrine")
- In Battle for Moscow operation: Changed USSR Regular units posted around Kremlin into Guards units.
- Stalingrad operation: 1) Fixed Conscripts not crossing the river. 2) Adjusted soviet airforce behavior. 3) Fixed one of the objective counters.
- Fixed all Armored trains and Assault guns not damaging infrastructure and not being able to attack Mines.
- Removed embarkation button for armored trains.
- Added series for recon units staring with Sd. kfz. 231 and up to Puma. So now Recon units are cheaper to upgrade.
- Removed the extra "Colonel" rank in the campaign (not operation) victory/loss screen.
- Fixed tanks defeating the enemy Forst in close combat getting Overrun only after a certain delay.
- Fixed not being able to disembark from air transport in a hex in which another aircraft was located (under the aircraft).
- Sea transport no longer has a Level tab.
- Fixed "tick" (got this hero) and "skull"(hero was killed) icons on Heroes tab not working properly.
- Fixed not getting + x prestige notification when destroying an enemy ship,
- Fixed Infantry having incorrect current move points count right after selling the ground transport.
- Fixed Wolfpack and Tank onslaught skills abuse: you could use it to attack with aircraft instead of tank/sub if you had both tank/sub and aircraft in one hex.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all players who actively offer us all sorts of invaluable feedback. We encourage you to keep doing so. Together we can make an even better game.

We look forward to both reading more feedback from you guys on our Community hub and adding more polish to the game. See you soon!

Hello guys,

Some of you have asked us for a full list of operations in Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg on our community hub.

Update 1.11
Thu, June 11, 2020

This update brings balance changes in several scenarios

Patch notes:

Balance changes:

- Increased the turn limit by 1 in the Battle of France
- Increased the turn limit by 1 in the Battle of Stalingrad
- Increased the turn limit by 3 in the 19th operation
- Changes in the Battle of Kursk scenario: 1) added non-core units 2) come changes to the railroads' system 3) some changes to the deployment hexes location 4) Allowable losses increased to 3000 (worth of units lost (both core and noncore)) 5) Enemy hero level decreased from 10th to 7th.
- Changes in The First Battle of Kiev scenario: 1) added Supply Hub for the northern army group 2) some changes to the roads in the north.
- Decreased the Gun range of Wurfrahmen and Nebelwerfer equipment from 4 to 3 hexes.
- Wurfrahmen and Nebelwerfer equipment now applies "Suppressive fire" skill to a unit, when activated, making all attacks deal mostly non-lethal damage. (As artillery would)

Fixes:

- Fixed crash in 19th operation, with "objects of art" secondary objective. (Reported by "反·装逼king" and others)
- Slight adjustments to the close combat mechanic. Now, it is not applied if the Attacker is towed (or stationary, like a fort) unit (artillery, anti-tank, anti-air), but still works for the same classes if the unit is self-propelled. (It was working the same way before but with few inaccuracies)
- Corrected all secondary objectives rewards (Victory points and Prestige) now they conform with the description.
- Fixed visual glitch: the tanks would sometimes "fly" or show other weird behavior when entering a player's vision from the "fog of war".

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all players who actively offer us all sorts of invaluable feedback. We encourage you to keep doing so. Together we can make an even better game.

We look forward to both reading more feedback from you guys on our Community hub and adding more polish to the game. See you soon!

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg on YouTube ep. 3
Fri, June 12, 2020

This time we offer you to have a look at the Night Phoenix's playthrough

Hello guys,
In Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg there are plenty of ways to carry out every operation. So, it is very interesting to see how other people cope with the same tasks. We, the developers, also watch these Youtube playthroughs to better understand how the players perceive the game, and what aspects of it are the most problematic, the most enjoyable, etc.
So, today, we offer you the beginning of Night Phoenix's playthrough. It is the only person on YouTube that we know of, who did the full playthrough (with English commentary on 100% difficulty) of Panzer Strategy and Strategic Mind: The Pacific (full Japanese campaign and half of the US campaign, still in progress). So, we think that it could be interesting for you to see the game through the eyes of the veteran of our games.

While you enjoy these videos, we keep working on the next update, which we plan to deliver on Monday.

Have a nice weekend!

Update 1.12
Tue, June 16, 2020

New equipment, bug fixes and polish

Patch notes:

Localization:

- All English in-operation localization was corrected to conform fully with the VO. (Before, there were minor differences between the VO and written text)
- Corrected Hotkeys list in German, now it contains two entries that were missing before: about the "N" hotkey, and "Z,X,C,V,B" hotkeys.
- Added/corrected

New equipment added:

- Tank flamethrower. It can be used by Tanks and Sturm artillery and works similarly to the Infantry flamethrower, but has a number of uses.
- Storage wagon. It can be used by Armored train to increase Ammo and Fuel capacity.
- High-caliber incendiaries. It can be used by large-caliber artillery and provides a +6 Soft attack.

Changes to equipment:

- Armored-train can now equip Flak 38 and Flakvierling 38.
- Incendiary shells now add +4 Soft attack (instead of +3).
- Zimmerit now provides +3 Hard defense in close quarters (instead of +2)
- Spaced armor now provides +3 Hard defense (instead of +2)

Operations polish:

Kursk operation
Adjustments to the Supply network:
- Added Supply Point in hex 18:36
- Added the road from Supply Point in 20:40 to Supply Point in 15:32 (through new Supply Point in 18:36)
- Moved Supply Point from 20:26 to 18:26
(Note: Now objective "Cut off the Kursk salient" makes more sense and is easier to accomplish. Capturing 4 designated hexes will completely cut off the enemy forces at Kursk and all the western part of the map from Supply.
However, you have to restart the mission for changes to apply. If you are already started the operation - visual changes will be applied but technical parameters of Supply Point will be not.)

Leningrad operation
- Added the Railway Station near Shlisselburg (hex 3:21)
- Extended the deploy zone

Barbarossa
- Added trucks (Opel blitz) ground transport for the Romanian troops (non core). (Reported by "jurand36")

Bug fixes and improvements:

- Fixed secondary objective with "works of art" in 20th operation. (Now the trucks will surrender if attacked in Close combat) (Reported by "Doctrine" and others)
- Fixed HQ skills "Military training" and "Air force training": you could learn the 2nd level without the unit of 3rd level. Now, you have to have a 3rd level unit. as was stated in the description.
- Fixed the bug allowing to deploy an unlimited number of paratroopers (embarked on plane) in one hex. (Reported by "[PBS]mmtt"
- Fixed Ammunition costs description (added in the previous update)
- Fixed Victory screen statistics missing Armored train and Assault gun classes (Naval batteries now added to Forst count, and Mines no longer displayed).
- Fixed "Set a trap" skill providing bonus even after the movement.
- Non-Infantry units can no longer be deployed in Dense buildings hexes.
- Non-Infantry units can no longer disembark in Dense buildings hexes.
- Fixed minor problem with move points recalculation after the attack.
- Fixed incorrect disembarkation hexes being displayed.
- Fixed +10 Prestige hint for capturing Infrastructure not being displayed.
- Now you can equip armor-piercing/incendiary shells with Torpedoes at the same time.
- Now you can see how close you are to the Losses penalty by mouse over that line in the Victory screen.
- HQ unit is now always first in its class in the Units panel at the bottom of the screen.

Note that some of the new descriptions are still awaiting localization to non-English languages.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all players who actively offer us all sorts of invaluable feedback. We encourage you to keep doing so. Together we can make an even better game.

We look forward to both reading more feedback from you guys on our Community hub and adding more polish to the game. See you soon!

Update 1.13
Fri, June 19, 2020

Improvements for the last two operations and other stuff

Patch notes:

Operations polish:

Kursk operation
•   Removed a number of enemy Infantry units near the edges of the playing zone (which were difficult to locate), so now you should have an easier time acquiring "Kill All Enemies" Victory points bonus.

19th operation
•   The primary objective of killing enemy units now also includes the US units (it counted only British before)
•   Added Non-Core Fighter planes for player
•   Added some equipment and Entrenchment levels to the Noncore units surrounded in London
•   Added equipment to all Noncore Naval units
•   All Noncore units now have 15 Strength (were overstrengthed up to 15)
•   Extended the deployment area
•   Removed some Infantry units from encircled German groups
•   Fixed some objective counters
•   Added pointers

20th operation
•   Civilians no longer have a level and Infantry skills
•   Some visual improvements

Bug fixes and improvements:
- Fixed Tank flamethrower missing icon on the Actions panel. (Reported by "ramyland_maelstrom")
- Added "Disable autosaves" option. (As requested by the players' community). We remember that there was a good suggestion to allow players to select the number of latest autosaves they want to keep. We plan to implement that feature as well at some point.

We know that there are several reported issues awaiting further updates (like Hitler's favor issue). We will address them in the next updates.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all players who actively offer us all sorts of invaluable feedback. We encourage you to keep doing so. Together we can make an even better game.

We look forward to both reading more feedback from you guys on our Community hub and adding more polish to the game. See you soon!

Hello, guys!

We love to create thought-provoking wargames and it’s great you play them.

The most dedicated person doing Let’s Play videos of our games on YouTube is Night Phoenix.

We love watching his videos as developers and want to share them with you so that you can also enjoy watching them. There are always multiple ways to get through the scenario, so it is interesting to see how the other players fared even if you already finished this particular scenario.

Today, we present you the second operation by the Night Phoenix with English commentary, the Invasion of Poland:

Blitzkrieg: two months = 18 updates
Wed, 22 July 2020

Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg 2 months anniversary

We would like to congratulate the players’ community with the 2 months anniversary of Strategic Mind: Blitzkrieg.

These two months we work hard to fix all of the reported issues and further improve the game: 18 updates in two months can truly be called “a Blitzkrieg” on its own.

What we have done

Apart from bug fixes, the game went through the following improvements:
•   New Equipment added + all equipment balancing
•   Balance changes for the majority of operations
•   Steam achievements added:

•   Naval tutorial added
•   Better Steam integration
•   You can adjust difficulty after every operation
•   Added new terrain type — Street, improving the city-combat part of the gameplay
•   Added option to set a delay after each phrase 0-5 sec
•   All new save files are now archived, so they take tenfolds less disk space now
•   Added option to set the number of last save files 10-100 — the rest will be deleted automatically
•   Slight UI improvements etc.

The majority of these changes were inspired by your feedback which we carefully accumulated and immediately acted upon. We look forward to more feedback from you guys!

What we plan to do

The roadmap for the future updates is currently looking like that

•   Leaderboards: recording your score and comparing it to the other players globally
•   Steam Community Items: trading cards, badges etc.
•   The “Undo” button: the ability to correct a misclick, if it did not result in a fight or spotting of the enemy unit.

Strategic Mind: The Pacific update

Another important matter is that most of the important changes were transferred to the Strategic Mind: The Pacific as well. So, all the players of Strategic Mind series can benefit from the improvements. This also means that when the next Strategic Mind title will come out, many important features will be added retrospectively to Strategic MInd: Blitzkrieg as well.

Soundtrack is out

To celebrate the 2 months since release, we have also prepared the Strategic Mind Franchise Soundtrack, all income from which will be invested into more tracks that will be added into the very same soundtrack for free:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1358280/Strategic_Mind_Franchise_Soundtrack/

Upcoming project in Strategic Mind series

And last but not least, we have announced our next title — Strategic MInd: Spectre of Communism. It will allow you to witness the WWII events from the opposite side’s perspective.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1341170/Strategic_Mind_Spectre_of_Communism/

Overall, it was busy 2 months, but our tanks are swift and they only gain speed.

There is more news that we are excited to share with you coming up, so stay tuned!

With best regards
Strani Games team
