The Centennial of World War I

The First World War Centenary is the centenary of the First World War, which started on 28 July 2014 with commemorations of the outbreak of the war and will continue until 11 November 2018.

2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War

In late July and early August 1914, the great powers of Europe embarked on a course of action that claimed millions of lives, toppled empires, and reshaped the political structure of the continent. The 2014 centennial of the beginning of World War I was, fittingly, commemorated with events in countries throughout the world. Projects included symposia, exhibits, theatrical presentations, re-enactments, and concerts. The Flanders region of Belgium, especially Ypres (where three battles took place), was a particular focus of such efforts, which included the newly reopened In Flanders Fields Museum. Leaders of several countries attended ceremonies in Lige and Mons on August 4. Commemorations of particular battles were scheduled to take place over the next four years, as each centenary arrived. Britain, France, and Italy each planned hundreds of different events, many of them intended to be educational. Although all...

OPREP - Warlords
9 November - Kornelios
UNIT: Josef Zemnek, Senior Scripter & Designer
TO: Arma 3 Users
OPSUM: From personal Workshop project to official multiplayer mode

EVALUATION:
For those who missed our Roadmap 2018 Update blog, Warlords is a multiplayer game mode for Arma 3, which will be added to the game for free as part of the upcoming 1.86 Update. However, some of you will know that it has been around for some time already on the Steam Workshop, where it garnered valuable feedback from a fairly large number of players over the past 3 years or so. In this OPREP, I'd like to share my motivation for creating Warlords and why we believe it makes for a great addition to the vanilla game.

Hello everybody,

The last month of Autumn has begun and we're preparing the next update for our three projects. We plan to release it in two weeks (doh!) or so and today we'll tell you about the upcoming additions. Of course, the stars of the show are FOUR new aircraft, two for Bodenplatte and two for Flying Circus.

USAF P-47D-28 Thunderbolt is one of the biggest, powerful and menacing single-engine fighters of WWII. Its radial 18-cylinder engine with turbocharger, intercooler and water injection boost system enables this monster to reach 700 km/h at 7000 m altitude. Eight 12.7 mm M2.50 Browning machine guns with 3400 rounds total give a new meaning to the phrase 'spray and pray'. In addition, for strike missions, this fighter can be equipped with six unguided rockets and up to three 500 and 1000 pound bombs (225 and 455 kg). Being a late war aircraft, it has many interesting design peculiarities you'll be able to experience in the near future.

Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109 K-4 "Kurfrst" is a glaring example of the inconsistency of the late war aircraft production in the Third Reich. This plane combines the newest weapon and engine technologies with maximum possible...
