Title: Detailed comparison of GTOS and Combat Mission
Post by: Frankie on May 30, 2017, 05:38:58 AM
Grogheads has some pretty deep discussions on the comparison of Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star and Combat Mission series.

Here is an interesting 6-page thread http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=9819.msg249163#msg249163 that gives an anlaysis based on these topics:
1. Game Engine & Scale
2. Graphics, Sound & UI
3. Artificial Intelligence (Friendly and Enemy)
4. Scope
5. Customer Support & Product Life-Cycle

A less detailed comparison can also be found here:

If you do a quick search on that forum, you will see the many Graviteam posts I made.

People always compare CM to GT. They both have their pro's and con's. Both are excellent. I own both. However FOR ME, GT is better. I find it more immersive and engaging. It has an amazing amount of detail. The devs are easy to talk to and it is a lot cheaper.

There are 2 main things people complain about when it comes to Graviteam titles:

1. The interface.
Many complain about the interface in Operation Star and still to some extent Mius Front/Tank Warfare. I have used the interfaces extensively and personally feel that they are good. The MF/TW interfaces have been upgraded and are a lot better. I feel many people do not give it enough time. The interface gives a lot of options in a way that is not cumbersome. However you do need to spend time with it and learn it.

2. The patching/updating process.
Many had issues with patching GT titles as the process involved a number of steps. Could it have been easier? Sure. If you followed the procedure it was no problem. Steam has changed all that but people still remember the "cumbersome" patching process.

Ultimately it is up to the individual. CM and GT are both great. I prefer GT. I own them both and enjoy them both.
