Title: Arma mission server content wish list
Post by: Cougar11 on July 31, 2015, 03:19:30 PM
Here is a place for people to say what it is they would like to have in the arma server mission/s.

1. I would like an immersive game feeling.
2. The ability to use small team to squad/multi-squad tactics.
3. Less special stuff like snipers, choppers, tanks, etc. (some of this could be ok on a limited basis, and only if it fits the mission.
4. Ability to use virtual arsenal to setup kits etc.
5. Limited use of MCC. Do not want it abused/breaking immersion, but like it for unrealistic immersion time tables.
6. Scaled forces that match friendlies in game. I do not want to run into a BMP and 2 squads of infantry if there are only 3 people in game all dismounted, or in light vehicles not able to deal with armor.
7. Interaction that is easy to use, understand, and is not broken for necessary functions or tasks in game.
8. Multiple types, and levels of missions so that a two or three man team/s, or a squad plus can play.

That is what I have for for now. Now it is your turn to voice your opinion on what you would like.

Agreed. This will help create the kind of play we want :)

Task Force Radio is, I'll admit, a more advanced mod--but the level of immersion with it is significant. I have played ARMA with ACRE (a radio mod) and TF Radio and can vouch for it's realism and immersion.

ShackTac Hud (@sthud) is another mod that lends to the sim. It helps with situational awareness. It bridges the gap between realism and simism. In the real world maintaining a wedge, a line, or echelon formation is relatively easy when compared to trying to do so in Arma--especially for those without Track IR.

Hi,

so I am on Beef side about Task Force Radio, I think it would be good on the Arma 3 Server Two.

I agree that taskforce radio would allow for more immersion, but without leadership roles like, a command group, squad leader, and or team leaders I am not sure how useful it will be. The use of air, and or vehicles makes sense. I do however think that unless we are actually going to conduct an actual mission starting from the mission brief all the way through the objective, then it really doesn't matter about the radio. As things currently are, most of what we do is a loose grouping of people some what working together, some what communicating, and mostly individual efforts in the area of others.
I did not play during Fridays mission though, and do not know what those are like yet.

My opinion that a actual mission with goals and our objectives be made, a leader/squad leader, and team leaders be designated, and a plan devised prior to mission day. It would be nice for SB as well, but I digress. Infantry tactics require planning, unless you are taking about QRF type missions were you are told go get this guy, go kill that guy, secure that site so on and so forth. That is the equivalent of SB same old missions.
If you want emersion, then we need a cabana level operations order given to the squad leader, who then briefs his team leaders and soldiers on what is going to take place with a plan. Everyone has a role, and are part of a team.

Insurgency is fun, but lacks the coordination and immersion I think many are looking for. This going be sure also to hire we are actually playing it too.

If we can get all these things going on mission, then yes taskforce radio is kinda a must have.

I agree and disagree with Cougar. A radio mod definitely is conducive to supporting C2 and information flow for a detailed mission with a pre-determined chain of command. However, it also supports and lends to smaller missions. Case in point; crew coordination in a vehicle or helicopter, and a tactical net for two or more grunts on the ground, and also Fire Support. Just the other day we had an attack helo crewed by two, four other players on foot in a large town, and myself on Artillery. It was seven or eight players at most, and I believe a radio mod would have worked well then.

Having said that, I want to re-state that using a radio mod is more advanced and should only be done when the majority of our core players are ready to do so.

Here are two additional mods that I think would enhance the play of Arma

ASR AI 3 is an AI enhancement mod http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24080 (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24080) Size: 1MB
CAF Aggressors brings three additional hostile factions http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24441 (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24441) Size: 440 MB

I think at this point since I did not put it in my first post, that not everyone has the internet, hard drive, or ability to get large  single, or a large total file size of mods.

Please continue with your suggestions. Thank you all for your thoughts so far, and keep it up.

At some point we will have to pick what we are going to use, and what mission that works for as many as we can.

Very nice, in one way I am Cougar side with the Task Force Radio, in this moment we have still a loose group in Arma.
So, my opinion is:

Thanks again to all of you for contributing new information's and opinions.

If ace can be fixed, then I would like it as it would lower the number of respawns, and increase realism. If it cannot be fixed, then we need some other way to heal people.
