Dear DoW members,
Today I tested the new DoW ArmA 3 server.
I will post in the following days all information how you can join the server / server rules / server mod's / file and mod tools to be used.

Not that my vote counts, but I just want to say that I am vehemently against the use of ArmA mods.

Your vote does count. This is a community :)
I understand the concerns around the use of mods. We are keeping a very close eye on this situation. I am also not overly enamoured with their use. However I have followed the posts here by Attila and found it a fast and painless task.
We will keep the group apprised of the situation

The mods are not required, are they? I have connected to and played on the DoW Arma server and all I have is the plain vanilla Arma3 install. Not that I have a choice, there is no way I could download that much data (while I'm overseas) without getting my Internet cut off.

After using some of these mods, I have to agree with Apocalypse.
We really need to look at which if any of the mods we want, what they can or cannot do, if they change any other part of the game, and then decide if we use or do not use any of them. We also need to look at how big these mods are, compared to the benefit they give. IMO
I would be in favor of mods that increased the realism, and the play-ability of the game. I would not be in favor of mods that are just cool or fun to have.
Maybe the solution to this would be to make a post listing the mods and what they are.
We would also need to decide the direction we are going with ARMA3 for the VU, so that we can tailor the mods and missions to what we want.
This would let us look at each of them, and decide which ones we like or dislike.
We should also come up with a process for mods to be presented, tested, and decided upon prior to being used by the entire VU.
Just my thoughts, more welcome. 8)

@AdvancedBallistics -> This addon introduces advanced external and internal ballistics to the game. It is entirely client-side and only affects small arms fire from human players.It makes long range shooting much more challenging and enjoyable.
@ASDG_JR -> The rails are attached by default to all vanilla weapons. The goal is to provide a common system which can be used by weapon and attachment mod makers in order to prevent mod conflicts.
@ATragMX -> This addon introduces a new item to the game, which helps you to calculate firing solutions.
@Blastcore-A3-Phoenix -> This a Visual Effects package for the A3 Platform
@Blastcore-Tracers -> Tracers Mod for A3
@CBA_A3 -> CBA - Community Base Addons - ARMA 3
@fhq_accessories -> This pack contains a couple of real-world attachments and optics like the AN/PEG-15 laser module, ACOGtm rifle scope and other common (and eventually, not so common) attachments.
@fhq_m4_a3 -> This is a pack with four versions of the M4A1 carbine, in Woodland, Desert, Black and Winter/Urban. They come with a matching set of four silencers and are compatible with the standard weapon sights and attachments.
@JSRS2.2 -> JSRS 2.0 brings all the old-known effects and sounds to a whole new level, even compared to previous J.S.R.S. versions
of the past. This version is the culmination of J.S.R.S. "Perfection" after a long journey of working on J.S.R.S.. Try it, you will not be disappointed!
@Kestrel4500 -> Kestrel 4500 Pocket Weather Tracker
@mrt_accfncs -> MRT Accessory Functions (AccFncs for short) is a small script addon that switches a player's current weapon accessories between a set of predefined classnames at the press of a button. The aim of this function is to simulate various interactive features in real-life weapon accessories that are otherwise absent in Arma 3.

@sthud -> all st_ mods = Once upon a time, we had an idea to make something that would alleviate some of the issues in Arma with regards to situational awareness. Our ShackTac Fireteam HUD is the solution we came up with, ready to be used by those who share similar views regarding gameplay’s relationship with realism.
@trixie_recon -> Marksman Pack, currently includes 4 different models with 9 configurations in total so far with more planned for the future.
- Adds the M110/M14DMR/M40A3/M107 in different configurations such as clean and ghillie versions.
- All bipods are fully animated and folds both in and up.
- Side rails on M40A3 and M14 DMR only show when attachment is mounted.
- M14 DMR (Non ghillie versions) top rail only shows when sight is mounted.
- Fully ASDG Joint Rails enabled, including the 2 rifle scopes provided in this pack.
Now some information about the server: This is not a Vanilla Server, the reason -> Server is a Dedicated Server. (higher cost) Vanilla games can be played on Steam.
When the download size is a problem we can stay with the ArmA3 main maps, also we can switch of the sound mod.

The mods that are being tested are for realism.
I believe in its current form ARMA3 is not realistic due to its futuristic weaponry.

Task Force Radio has been discussed already and definitely on the "list" for the future. I think its true potential will be seen in larger groups.

agm = light and quite funny in my opinion, i'm having super fun with some guys using CBA3 + Bundeswehr mod + TFAR + AGM.
and that's all, by the way i'd like to invite all of you to play with them as an american-english speaking group and call them in our server as well, when we are ready.

I'm here to express my deepest regret about the Arma3 server shutoff.
Thanks to Attila for all the efforts that, in my opinion were funny and well chosen.
I'm sorry if my lack of participation brought to this, but I was working hard and all the stuff.
Anyway, i was playing it quite oftenly and studying mcc in private sessions.
I do always participate in a VU ( even if i'm not in it ) of german guys playing Bundeswehr trainings in full reality, and I was starting to get them involved in something that could bring us to funny engagements.
I've expressed this many times with many users, speaking of agm, that in my opinion was 1 small mod easy to use and install and that could put us in the position of playing with 50 other players in joint communities; noone were interested and so I've stand the argument down.
Anyway, I'm sorry this has ended, and as usual, i find a huge lack of communication between us guys.
