A crew of players experience the tense atmosphere of a WW2 U-boat, manning the stations in this realistic co-op simulation game. Several crews may play together in a wolfpack, completing missions based on iconic events during the different stages of german U-boat warfare between 1939 and 1945.

Single-player*, Online Multi-Player, Co-op, Online Co-op

*Q: Is there a Single-Player option?

A: It is possible to launch the game alone. It is not impossible for a single player to man the U-boat at this point, but it is definitely not optimal since it requires a lot of running between the different stations.

"We have decided to put rudimentary bots at #1 on the To Do List since this feature gets requested reccurently. However, Wolfpack is designed for co-op, and we hope you give the multiplayer aspect a chance. Our Discord Server is full of friendly and very devoted people, so don't hesitate to join it."

About

Wolfpack is a realistic, first person, co-op U-boat game where one or multiple crews of players man the stations of a highly detailed German type VII U-boat during the Second World War. The crew will encounter large randomized convoys of merchants escorted by destroyers, sloops, and corvettes. Their objective is to intercept and sink enemy ships and escape undetected.

Each player mans a station in the U-boat, and the crew will need to cooperate in order to succeed in their mission. Unlike other submarine simulators, Wolfpack is designed for players to procedurally manage the submarine through direct, manual interaction with valves, levers, and instruments.

Each U-boat has up to five players: The captain, the helmsman, the dive officer, the radio man, and the navigator.

•   The radio man operates the hydrophone, radio, radio direction finder, and Enigma machine.

•   The helmsman controls the U-boats heading and speed, and operates the torpedo data computer.

•   The dive officer controls the depth using the dive planes, ballast and negative tanks and serves as a lookout and gunner for the deck gun and anti aircraft gun.

•   The navigator calculates the position of the u-boat, and determines the best route to intercept enemy convoys.

•   The captain is the commander of the U-boat, and gives orders to the rest of the crew.

All stations and instruments in the U-boat are carefully modeled after original pictures and sources, and kept as realistic as possible without compromising usability. The game contains a fully operational torpedo data computer, manual navigation tools, and ship recognition manual.

Start Up of a WW2 Submarine Diesel Engine of a German U-Boat

https://youtu.be/zLfa43_1WH8

Published on Jun 24, 2018
Start up of a 6-cylinder diesel engine. The submarine engine RS 34 S was used in the Type XXIII submarines. Originally, it was designed by MWM as a diesel generator for the battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz. The engine has 108 liters cylinder capacity (18 liters for each cylinder) and 576 hp at 850 revolutions per minute.

The engine is located in a museum in Kiel, Germany: http://www.maschinenmuseum-kiel-wik.de

These are the steps performed to start the engine:

0:08 - The young machine operator begins to pre-lubricate the engine.
0:32 - After reaching 2 bar oil pressure, the older machine operator turns the engine manually.
1:44 - The engine is turned by compressed air with cylinder taps opened to blow out water or oil, if present. The engine is still being pre-lubricated.
1:57 - The machine operator closes the cylinder taps.
2:14 - Water pump switched on (control cabinet in the background).
2:16 - Fuel valve opened.
2:18 - Injection pumps on filling: Probably, this means that the injection pumps are set to maximum as a basic setting (big wheel). The final fuel amount is set by the governer (small wheel in the background).
2:21 - Preheating
2:30 - Glowplugs are glowing.
2:34 - Engine start by compressed air.
2:55 - The machine operator checks the combustion by opening the cylinder taps shortly.
3:13 - Finally, he raises the RPM by adjusting the governor.

Requirements:
A graphics card that is not a potato.

Since this is a .NET app written in C#, i used some Managed components of DirectX to render the dials for speed. Not all DirectX installers come with those components. So you may or may not need to run the full directX web installer to get them if they are missing from your system.

Retranslated U-boat Commander’s Handbook
By derstosstrupp

"As some of you may know, the English translation (done during the war) of the 1942/43 U-boat Commander’s Handbook left much to be desired. The translator got a lot right, but the translation was done more or less literally, often using German syntax which made it read awkwardly in English and in many cases there were assumptions made that were wrong, stemming from the translator’s lack of procedural and technical knowledge of U-boats.

So, I have retranslated the document in clearer language and correcting the many inaccuracies, also commenting here and there for sake of clarity as well as to provide historical context. Only paragraphs 3 through 245 are my retranslation, as these were the only I could find in the original German. For the rest, I simply cleaned up the language and modified it to better communicate the intent of the paragraphs.

Enjoy!"

Version 0.16 is now available.

The update features a training mission illustrating the in-game mechanics of the torpedo data computer.
The training mission gives you the option to observe the calculated torpedo trajectory, as well as the distance, speed and angle on bow of the target.

The targets are represented by blue triangles. The semi-transparent triangle in front of each target represent the targets position on the calculated impact.
Ship types are also represented, allowing you to practice identifying the ships using the recognition manual.

Version 0.19 - Bots
Fri, 27 September 2019

We are now releasing the bot features.

Hello everyone!

We are now releasing the bot features we've been working on the past month. The addition of bots will make the game more single player friendly by allowing you to control the U-boat from a dashboard interface. Bots are activated on a per server basis in the lobby menu.

To access the bot interface in game, click the mouse wheel, or press F1-F3 for individual bots. Bots play crew members that do not have a player. If a player logs in, the corresponding bot is deactivated. There is no captain bot.

Use the helmsman interface (F1) to set the speed, heading and rudder angle. The helmsman bot will notify you if the battery level is low.

The torpedo data computer may be controlled via the helmsman interface.

The hydrophone and the radio are available in the radio man interface (F2). The radio man bot will notify you of radio messages as well as hydrophone contacts.

The dive officer interface (F3) allows you to set the U-boats depth by entering a desired value. Use the automated quick commands for diving, surfacing, emergency dive and for maintaining periscope depth. The dive officer bot will notify you if the compressed air supply is low.

Patch notes:
•   Added bots. Press the middle mouse button, or F1-F3 to activate the bot menus.
•   Added scalable menu cursors.
•   Added overlay to distance table to make it easier to use.
•   Added quick encounter option.
•   Outgoing telegraph messages are now logged.
•   Added indoor zoom.
•   Increased time between fired salvo shots to 2.3 seconds.
•   Added bearing indicator to UZO
•   Reloading torpedo tubes now depletes compressed air.

Wolfpack BdU Campaign
06-09-2019
By derstosstrupp
 Original post (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=242349)

Hi All,

Wanted to start a thread to gauge interest levels among current Wolfpack players regarding what I and a few others have been working diligently on these past months. As we all know, Wolfpack is a great simulation, probably the best we have in terms of U-boat systems. Because the game is in such an early stage of development, things such as duds, specific U-boat damage etc are not yet modeled. Our intention with this campaign is to model such things by way of a third-party tool to assist in generating realistic results.

What myself and a few others have been working out is a campaign of sorts, similar to SH3, where skippers and their crews plot a course on a shared map and admin, us, generates results for them as if they were on patrol, including aircraft, single ships, convoys, etc. They get a radio message from admin with Wolfpack settings and then use a shared spreadsheet in Google to fill in the details. Medals, promotions etc. are all there as well. Call it role-playing if you will.

Here is a taste of what we’ve got:

Plotting on Map:

https://youtu.be/p_2HLYyG_Q4

Spreadsheet for Realistic Results:

https://youtu.be/cYDXjq2VJr4

This is intended to start a discussion and gauge interest in such a thing. We would run it on Subsim here.

Another thing to note is we do not mandate a minimum crew size. But with mods it is very difficult to run the boat with less than 3!

Distinct advantages go to those who have a well-trained crew though, as follows:

1. Crash dive times are established by boat, and it is advisable to get your boat’s crash dive time down as we are currently simulating aircraft!

2. Skippers can send crewmembers to Admin for “checkrides” on stations. If they pass, the boat gets benefits in campaign. This encourages training and leadership within crews.

Update 10-09-19:
We are now simulating navigational errors during the patrol. These can be reduced by training your crew on Wolfpack stations!

Update 13-09-19:
BIG NEWS! Our esteemed member Elphaba (Zoe) has been able to mod the game for purposes of our campaign! I was merely technical advisor. Here are the features:

Wolfpack BdU Variant Mod 1.0 by Captain Zoe E
Summers and Stosstrup (M. Hamacher)

1. Reload times are now between 20 - 30min PER
TUBE, sequentially.

2. Salvo shot launch times are now set to the
historical figure of 2.3 secs between each
shot.

3. Torpedoes can now be Duds, with historical
figures for the correct month / year.

4. Torpedoes can now prematurely detonate, and
it will be detectable by the AI for the
correct month / year.

5. Torpedoes have a historically accurate
chance of losing guidance after arming.

6. The TDC will not allow a torpedo to be
fired if any of the main ballast vents are
open.

7. Upon firing a torpedo, a positive buoyancy
will be effected.

8. Torpedo Ranges are now historically
accurate and will change for the correct month
/ year.

9. TDC correctly recognises Torpedo max range
based on date.

10. Climb down from bridge onto player
controlled ladder animation is significantly
faster; this not only prevents people blocking
the ladder but is further useful for getting
down your test dive times.

11. The UZO now has a compass rose for
relative bearings (at the top) and the guide
wires illuminate with the night switch (Note:
do not rely on the gradicles for
measurements).

12. Holding Q shows the mod details and
version number.

With this mods enabled, it is **strongly**
recommended no boat shall sail with less than
3 crew. However, 4 (or more) crew are
**strongly** advised.

This is the first version of the Wolfpack BdU
Campaign variant of Wolfpack.

Further mods, tweaks and even bug fixes are
being developed in parallel to the campaign
and a new mod will be pushed to all boats as
it becomes available.

13. Attack periscope no longer has stabilisation.

14. Observation periscope no longer has stabilisation.

15. Realistic torpedo weight (in water) now removed from U-boat's mass when torpedo fired.

Wolfpack Single Player Mode
30/09/19

"Ahoy

When we released Wolfpack many of you reached out to me and said, "But Onkel, I don't really play multiplayer. Please let me know when Wolfpack has a single player mode".

Well my friend, the devs heard you and that day is here: it is my great pleasure to tell you that we just released the Wolfpack Lone Wolf single player package. Now you can have the same authentic u-boat experience but easily manage your boat solo if you choose.

If you already own Wolfpack (thank you for your support!), you can go to Steam now and update your game. If you have been waiting for the right time to buy Wolfpack, there's no better time than now.
You can get the game with the Lone Wolf single player update all for the same price as the original game.  Just check out the terrific reviews!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/490920/Wolfpack/

And we're not stopping here, no sir. The devs have a lot more amazing stuff to add to the game: a campaign mode featuring a highly detailed and authentic Scapa Flow mission with patrols, nets, blockships, and tidal factors. That is something never done by any subsim.  Then we'll build a historic campaign mode with missions like Running Gibraltar, Operation Drumbeat, and D-Day; dedicated servers for 24/7 World of Wolfpack, save game functions, and that Holy Grail of all u-boat sims--playable destroyers for massive player vs player convoy battles. That's what your purchase of Wolfpack buys you.

So, get your copy of Wolfpack now and enjoy the most realistic u-boat combat simulator ever. Your support means the game will continue to evolve and grow.

Good hunting!
Onkel Neal
SUBSIM

PS: Now with the single player mode it is easy to start a mission solo and allow other players to join the battle in their own subs as part of a wolfpack during your game. This really ramps up the action and makes the destroyers work extra hard to cover the whole convoy when it is being attacked from all sides! You can use the u-boat radio to communicate with any other captains. If other players join, great; if not, no problem, your game goes on solo.

PPS: We also added a training mode and a quick encounter mode for immediate action!"

Hello everyone!

We've now moved on to the next point of the roadmap, the Scapa flow mission. The first step in making a mission is terrain generation. When this process is complete we will be able to quickly generate terrain and maps for other missions.

Hello everyone!

After a lot of work the new patch is finally up and running. This patch changes the way that the clients connect to the host. Before this patch, clients connected to a Steam lobby, and used that lobby to exchange data. If the player’s connection to the lobby (the Steam server) was severed, they got disconnected from the game. If this player was the host, everyone got disconnected. The new system only uses Steam’s servers to announce the game, everything else happens peer to peer. This should solve most connection issues. This patch has taken a lot longer to make than we anticipated, and we are sorry that you had to wait longer than expected.

But why haven’t we finished making the Scapa flow mission yet? What’s taking so long?
Instead of just making a single mission, we have decided to build a general purpose mission editor. This mission editor will be made available to players, and missions will be shareable via Steam workshop. To that end, we are making a global world map (2D and height map), so that we can make missions everywhere in the world. This is what’s taking so long.

We are aware that it's been a while since the last patch, and that you are eager to see new content in the game. We understand this, and we try to make decisions that will enhance the game's development in the long run even if it seems tedious at times. To facilitate more frequent patches, we will be releasing some of the other items on our roadmap before the Scapa flow level (and level editor) is completed.

Best regards,
Oscar & Einar

Patch 0.21

•  Reworked netcode.
•  Fixed Navigator bot plotting bug when reversing.

Hello everyone!

This week we have finished work on the new radio system. The new system has two modes: Simplified and advanced. The mode is set in the lobby settings before starting the game. In simplified mode, players type in messages using the keyboard, but unlike before, the message can be typed out in full, without having to pause between each letter while it is being sent. In advanced mode, the morse key functions like it does in real life. Players will have to learn morse code in order to use this system. The new system uses fixed receive channels for each U-boat. Channel 1 is used to broadcast to all U-boats.

Other changes:

•  The diesel engine now stops working at 8 meters.
•  Increased underwater friction when running diesel engines.
•  Enemy ships are now more prone to ramming U-boats.
•  Periscopes can now be damaged by collisions.

Added iambic morse buttons with custom keybindings (thanks Folko).
Added ability to raise and lower direction finder antenna.
Added toggle for morse alphabet in send view.
Fixed escort not pursuing bug (thanks gurudennis).
All sunk ships now count towards objective completion, even if the responsible u-boat gets destroyed while the ships are sinking.
It is now possible to use the chat while looking at the map.
Fixed UI interaction bugs.
Reduced maximum compressor depth.
Reduced compressed air cost for torpedo firing .
Reduced compressed air cost for starting the diesel engines.

Hello everyone!
Fri, 8 May 2020

This week we are releasing patch 0.23. This patch includes in-game voice chat, and a number of bug fixes. Settings for the microphone and voice volume can be found in the options menu under Audio options. The push to talk key button can be bound in the key bindings menu. In the game lobby, the host can choose if the game should be played with or without realistic voice attenuation.

With realistic voice attenuation enabled, voices are hindered by walls. Without it you can hear players all over the boat. In both cases, the direction of the voice is calculated. In realistic voice mode you can also use the voice tube on the bridge.

Patch notes:
Added voice chat.
Added realistic voice attenuation.
Added bridge/control room voice tube.
It is now possible to clear keybindings by using backspace in the keybind menu.
Convoys now change direction after going back to idle on normal difficulty.
Convoys now periodically change direction on hard difficulty.
The starboard EOT now has the command to increase RPM on both engines, while the port EOT decreases RPM on both engines.
Added description and uptime to lobby list.
Fixed flying sub bug.
The top hatch now blocks voice communication.

Mission Completed Text: Text that is shown when the mission is completed.
Mission Failed Text: Text that is shown when the mission is failed.
Number of torpedoes in the forward torpedo room.
Number of torpedoes in the aft torpedo room.
Convoy Course
Convoy Speed
Year, Month, Day
Hour, Minute
Location
Weather
Tonnage Goal: The players must sink this number of tonnes to complete the mission.
Target List: The players must sink these ships in order to complete the mission.
Anti Target List: The mission is lost if any of these ships are sunk.
Time Limit
Merchant List: This is a list of ships that will be spawned in addition to the ships specified in Target List.
Number of destroyers, corvettes and sloops.
Mission Ends If Discovered: The mission ends if any U-boat is discovered.

This patch introduces a simplified mission editor, as well as Steam workshop support. This is a stopgap measure before we introduce the real level editor in patch 0.30. In this mission editor the player can set mission parameters for an open sea mission, and share the mission with the community through Steam workshop.

0.25 : New water asset, all torpedo types.

In this patch we will design a new water asset. The new water will be more dynamic, it will support both calmer and more stormy weather conditions. The new water will be dynamically deformed by ships and will create wakes and foam in a realistic manner. This patch will also introduce all relevant torpedo types, including FAT and LUT torpedo patterns, as well as realism options for torpedo failure. The player will be able to choose a torpedo loadout depending on the in game year.

0.26 : Complete U-boat interior.

In the current version of the game only the conning tower, control room and radio room are implemented. In this patch we will add the rest of the U-boat interior: The aft and forward torpedo rooms, engine room, galley, officers and crew accommodations as well as new sonar and radio compartments will be modelled and textured in great detail. The control room and conning tower will be retextured using the correct paint scheme.

0.27 : New damage system for ships.

This patch improves the damage model for enemy ships. The new damage model will have detailed interior colliders for each part of the ship, and the ships will be able to deform, burn and break apart in a realistic manner.

0.28 : Global world map.

This patch introduces a global world map with correct land height and barymetric data for the entire world.

0.29 : New AI, Aircraft.

In this patch we will rewrite the enemy AI, making it more capable. This patch will also introduce aircraft, aircraft carriers, torpedo boats, enemies with forward throwing weapons and enemy radar.

0.30 : New level editor with land/global location.

This patch will introduce a complete level editor, using the global world map. The level editor will be used by us to create a campaign (a series of one off missions), and will also be made available to the player community. The editor will enable us to make missions that take place near the coast, such as harbour invasion missions. This patch introduces coastal defence, mine fields, anti submarine nets and block ships.

0.31 : U-boat flooding and damage.

In this patch we will build a realistic damage model for the U-boat. We will also model dynamic flooding of the U-boat interior.

0.32 : New character models/character creator.

In this patch we will build new character models and a character creator. The new characters will have greater variety in appearance and a larger selection of clothing and accessories.

0.33 : Dedicated servers.

In this patch the net code will be reworked in order to support dedicated servers.

0.34 : Playable corvette and Versus mode.

A playable corvette will be introduced to the game as well as game modes for U-boat versus corvette combat.

The water asset and buoyancy system
Aug 21 2020

The water asset and buoyancy system is a big update even though it is not readily apparent to the end user. This new built-in-house water asset the new water asset is very efficient with resources and will allow the game to take advantage of the latest version of the Unity engine.  The original water asset allowed the devs to get a game in place and on the Early Access platform, now they have engineered a greatly superior water asset of their own that will work much better for the game, with caustic effects, better shading of underwater views through the periscope, and the long-awaited foam and wakes that will improve the visible appearance.

Hello everyone!

It has been some time since the last update to the game, and so naturally, people have started to wonder if development has stopped, or if we are low on funds. We want to assure you that everything is proceeding as normal. We are all still working 100% on the game, and we are happy to announce that 2 new developer’s joined the project. Our new team members are Koji and Axel (we are now 4 people working on the game!).

Currently, Oscar is working on the water asset for patch 0.25. The patch has been delayed somewhat, because he was on parental leave last month. Einar is building new compartments for the U-boat that will be implemented in patch 0.26. Koji is working on new ship models for patch 0.27 and Axel is making a new network protocol for patch 0.33 that will support dedicated servers and PVP.

Hans, why is the boat tilting!?

Hello fellow submerged sailors!

The day is here! Update 0.25 is now live on a new public beta branch (detailed instructions on how to access the beta branch can be found below). This update includes the new water, an improved sky and a new character controller.

We know this update has been a long time coming, it is the result of a ton of work over a long period of time.

We have long known that several key pieces of our technology required a rework, our hope is that the extended development time for these will make progress faster in the future, as well as making our systems more extendable and easier to work with.

We want to thank all members of our community for supporting us during this period - your feedback, your suggestions, and test participation has been invaluable to us and for the overall quality of Wolfpack.

Sincerely,
The Wolfpack Team

Highlights

https://youtu.be/nnl8DjIaq4g

New water
The update features the new, long-awaited water asset - you will now have to take sea state into account when preparing for your convoy attacks!
The skybox has been completely revamped, it now features physically correct particle scattering.

Improved character controller
The character controller has been reworked and improved, details such as wind in clothes and swaying has been added.
The refactor should also massively alleviate future work on the character controller.

Improved lighting and rendering
The game now uses a more accurate colour space, which improves the lighting and material fidelity.

Why opt-in beta?
We thought that giving you access as soon as possible would be a good idea, and hence some promised features are still missing.

They will be added in smaller patches in the following weeks.

There are also some minor bugs that still need fixing, which will be remediated as soon as possible.

What now?
Discord Q&A on Tuesday 10/8, 17.00 GMT.
Have any questions, feedback or suggestions on update 0.25, or Wolfpack in general? Let us know! We will be on Discord to answer all your questions.

You can join the Wolfpack Discord here. https://discord.com/invite/ZwEymD5

Additional 0.25 features
Oscar will be taking a well-earned vacation, so for the next two weeks there will be no new patches. Following that we will rapidly release smaller updates improving the upon features of this update and adding missing ones. These include:
•   Foam and wake simulation.
•   More weather types.
•   More torpedo types.
•   Torpedo failures.

Update 0.26, 'the Interior'
We will release Update 0.26 with the following highlighted features:
•   The complete interior of the type VII u-boat, alive and animated.
•   Rework of the conning tower to match the new interior.

https://youtu.be/_7DxEKf0xrs

Accessing the public beta branch
Step 1:
Right-click Wolfpack in your Steam library.

Step 2:
Select “Properties” in the drop-down menu.

Step 3:
Select “Betas” in the menu on the left.

Step 4:
Select “beta” in the opt-in drop-down menu.

Steam should now prompt you to update Wolfpack to download the new version, if you wish to revert to another branch, you can use the same instructions.

Update 0.25L, new torpedo type!
Fri, 26 November 2021

Hello everyone!

This week we have released version 0.25L
to the beta branch. This update contains the new torpedo type (T1), a new torpedo reloading interface, as well as some bug fixes.

Torpedoes are no longer reloaded automatically, since there are multiple torpedo types and speeds to choose from. To reload a torpedo, use the TDC and click the status section to open the torpedo reloading interface. To load or unload a torpedo, simply drag it to the corresponding spot.

Torpedoes with different speeds can not be combined in a salvo shot, but must be fired individually.
Next week we will add torpedo errors and some more mission editor options.

We are happy to announce that update 0.26 has been released on the beta branch!

Detailed instructions on how to access the beta branch can be found at the bottom of this page.

This update includes the full interior of the German type VII U-boat, improvements to player interactions (friends, bans, ignores, etc), leakage effects, new periscope overlays, scales and distance tables, intercom telephones and quality of life improvements.

For this update we would like to give a special shoutout to our group of dedicated testers, without your indispensable support we would still be finding new bugs to fix.

As usual, we want to thank all members of our community for supporting us - your feedback and suggestions are invaluable to us and continuously improve the quality of Wolfpack.

Sincerely,
The Wolfpack Team

Hello everyone!

The holidays are now over and we are back working as usual. The log system developed to prevent griefing and cheating was almost finished in December, but there are still a few more things to sort out. We are currently giving this high priority, and as soon as it is finished we will make the final additions to the diesel engines.

Koji has moved on from the radio room and is now working on updating the sonar room. Einar is working on improvements to the conning tower, adding missing gauges and other details. Axel has continued working on the next iteration of the menues. He is currently looking at re-working some modules, as well as adding selectors to categories and adding the first iteration of audio ux.

Hello everyone!

Work on the diesel engines continues. Oscar has implemented gauges which measures individual cylinder pressure. He also created a flame for the check valves.

Axel has reworked the modules from last week, and has reworked some problematic areas. He has also started to look into introducing better icons where needed to improve the user experience. Unfortunately audio did not get done and had to be postponed to the coming week.

Einar is creating new assets for the conning tower and Koji is modeling equipment for the sonar room.

Hello everyone!

This week Oscar has been working on the diesel engine. The diesel engine takes into account the temperature, friction, oil pressure, air flow and diesel flow for each cylinder. You can use the starter air, diesel throttle, starter lever, check valves, oil valves, diesel flow valves, supercharger and clutch. You can also operate the air intake and exhaust valves for both the diesel engine and the ventilation system.

Axel has been wrapping up the remaining stuff in most of the UI, including reworking the player items, the U-boat pen is still in need of some improvement which should be the last thing before another test version goes out to testers, hopefully early next week.

After feedback processing the goal is to start implementing the new UI for beta/release.

Einar is working on the new conning tower, adding more equipment and detail for authenticity. Koji has made improvements to the new radio equipment, correcting minor errors as well as optimizing the materials.

Hello everyone!

This week Oscar has continued working on the diesel engine, balancing the different variables. During preliminary testing of the e motor we found some problems with the e motor that will be addressed next week.

Axel has wrapped up the second iteration of the UI rework, including more audio effects and a reworked submarine pen. A build is heading to the testers today, and we eagerly await their feedback!
Einar has added a lot more detail to the new conning tower interior and Koji is working on textures for the new radio equipment.

Hello everyone!

This week Einar has finished the first iteration of the new conning tower interior. Oscar has been working on the diesel room - It is now possible to flood the engine and ventilation system if you dive with the vents open.

Axel has been fixing bugs in the UI preview according to reports on mantis from the testers, and is now in the process of starting the UI integration into the actual game. Version 3 of the UI preview should contain full functionality for improved testing/iteration. Koji is working on textures for the new radio equipment.

Community events are not organised by the Wolfpack devteam, but please keep to Wolfpack Community standards.

Event Host
Colonel Frost

Event Host notes
This is a regular community-organized event open to the general population of Wolfpack players. Space is limited. New players are welcome. Captains will be drawn from the cadre vetted and trained for multi-boat tactics published in the base-line division-level rules of engagement. (New players are not required to have read these in advance, but they may be of assistance in understanding what we are doing.) Crews will be assigned to boats from the player pool present in the "open lobbies only" voice channel of the official Wolfpack Discord (WPD) at https://discord.gg/8NVeN7d3. There is an optional sign up link in WP Operations (WPO) Discord: https://discord.gg/3myJa57H. Signing up on WPO will get you an auto ping 30 minutes before the start. Signing up is not a commitment to play or even to show up, nor it is a guaranty there will be space. If you arrive late, you will be assigned to a boat if and when a slot opens. Expect the event to consume three hours. If you need to leave early, you may do so without penalty. Communication is in English, though occasionally we have a Brazilian boat whose crew speak Portuguese. The RoE and other useful information can be found in the Operation Order linked in WPD "looking for game" with the game ad.

Upcoming Event Starts Wed, 11 October 2023

Update 0.26 - Open Beta
Fri, 22 December 2023

Hello everyone!

We have been hard at work this year, bringing lots of new features to Wolfpack, and we really wanted to release all of them for you this christmas. However, our testers discovered a big network bug just a few days ago, which desyncs the client for a few minutes each time it occurs.

Despite our best efforts, we were unable to resolve it in time for this release. Addressing this issue will be at the top of our list after the Christmas holidays.

We have decided to release the current build on the public beta branch anyway, so that you can see the progress we are making. Going forward we will avoid extended periods of private/closed betas, and push updates to the public beta instead, so that everyone can see and test new features.

You can find instructions on how to access the beta branch at the bottom of this announcement.

Disclaimer: For those of you who intend to try multiplayer regardless of our disclaimer, testers have reported that setting wind speed to 1 produces much more stable network conditions at the moment.

For a detailed overview of the exciting new features introduced in this update, please refer to the non-exhaustive list below.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period and extend our warmest wishes for a fantastic Christmas and joyful holidays!

Thank you,
The Wolfpack Team
