Active Sky X-plane soon?

It could be getting close.

The latest Airac 1812 from Navigraph has what seems to be an Acitve Sky X-plane file "as_xp_1812".

I will be keeping an eye on it.

Good news. I wonder what the pricing will be for current FSX/P3D owners?

Introducing HiFi’s first weather engine for the X-Plane platform……  ASXP!

Active Sky XP (ASXP) brings the popular award-winning Active Sky weather engine to the X-Plane platform for the first time.  Using a hybrid weather depiction interface through X-Plane 11’s weather API, a realistic, high-performance and high-fidelity weather experience is realized.

Features Spotlight

•   Active Air Effects

Replaces internal X-Plane turbulence and air effects, providing enhanced turbulence, drafts, thermals, terrain-based wind effects, surface friction, gusts, variability, wake turbulence, microbursts and more

•   High-Performance Weather Depiction

Uses internal X-Plane 11.2x/11.3x cloud depiction for maximum performance and smoothness, with multiple weather depiction modes including theme cell “real weather” mode and global static mode – VR compatible and optimized!

•   Active Sky Weather Engine

An evolved version of the Active Sky platform brings the core features that made Active Sky the leading weather engine for other platforms: Advanced weather synthesis and interpolation, high-resolution global winds aloft, realistic air and atmosphere effects, a comprehensive weather data network, integrated visual mapping and planning, and much, much more

•   Voice Weather Delivery

Active Sky ATIS and Flightwatch are available at any time by listening on 122.00, 122.02 or 122.03 for closest station, actual/current interpolated conditions and destination weather reports, respectively

•   Surface Crosswind Attenuation

Optional, for better ground handling in crosswind conditions while preserving headwind/tailwind component for performance accuracy

•   Mobile Companion App

Use any device/browser to connect with Active Sky over your network and view and control the weather

Limitations

Not a visual clouds replacement
•   We have put our previous X-Plane visual cloud replacement efforts on hold (until next year) due to performance considerations and changing API environment/tools that are not yet finalized
•   We expect our visual cloud replacement technology to debut in Q4 2019, subject to change based on many factors
•   ASXP features high-performance cloud depiction with a focus on conditions accuracy, utilizing the X-Plane internal cloud rendering via a hybrid API approach, with two different modes available
•   ASXP also features an optional high-performance photo-realistic cloud texture replacement with a simple texture installation wizard

Windows 64-Bit (v7 or later) Only

•   Mac, Linux and 32-bit X-Plane/Windows versions are not supported
•   In a networked environment, the ASXP application/client may run on Windows 32-bit (7 or later), but X-Plane must be 64-bit on Windows 64-bit (7 or later)
•   We hope to bring additional OS/platform support in the future
•   X-Plane version 11.26 or later (64-bit for Windows) is required

Requirements

•   X-Plane v11.26 or later, 64-bit Windows Version (Mac and 32-bit Windows versions are not compatible)
•   Windows 7 or later, 64-bit Version
•   Active internet connection (broadband recommended)
•   500mb available hard drive space
•   1GHZ+ CPU
•   2GB+ RAM
•   nVidia GTX 500 series or later Graphics Adapter (or equivalent)

Release Status

ASXP is currently in RELEASE CANDIDATE testing and is expected to release in December 2018.  Please check back for further news, screenshots and more!

ASXP SP1 Open Beta #2
Posted on February 2, 2019 by admin

ASXP SP1 is now available as an OPEN BETA for those who wish to participate. Beta #2 has been posted.
Beta versions are not yet stable/official and can and probably will contain bugs and issues. Please use at your own risk.
To download the beta, click here for our Downloads Page https://hifisimtech.com/downloads/

Open Beta 2
•   Tuned turbulence: Decreased effect scale for middle-heavy weight aircraft, Increased effect scale slightly for light aircraft, increase pitch rotational effect overall, reduced roll effect slightly
•   Updated API docs to correct issue regarding as_xconnect.txt module log filename
•   Added client IP address/ports logging into in as_xconnect.txt

Service Pack 1 Change Log
•   Added Turbulence improvements throughout for increased realism and compatibility with various aircraft types
•   Improved weather update process to significantly reduce “cloud redraws” when the relevant cell areas haven’t changed significantly even during a download/update process
•   Added new 3-letter USA airport/weather station data support – 3 letter airports now provide actual weather data, when available, instead of interpolating
•   Improved weather station coverage by approximately 500 stations globally
•   Added 5 second delay when looping ATIS/Flightwatch messages
•   Added common data export path support as per FSX/P3D AS products (available in General options)
•   Added support of VV/// METAR elements which will force ceiling to 0ft
•   Added additional X-Plane version checking logic during folder selection process to prevent a case where automatic detection of an old/obsolete version could be found without user’s confirmation and no ability to select the desired/proper version folder
•   Added + character support in Active Sky account e-mail addresses
•   Improved documentation regarding default X-Plane location/folder selection process whether standard or Steam variant
•   Added various user registration process improvements
•   Improved cell/station logic logging for debugging purposes
•   Improved interpolation logic for very short flights with or without flight plan for more accurate weather conditions even when a station borders multiple “cells” that previously may have had variable weather causing apparent discrepancies
•   Improved interpolation logic in general
•   Adjusted Maximum and Minimum Surface Visibility options when in default non-global depiction mode to limit maximum value to 20 miles (due to X-Plane limitations in this mode)
•   Reduced yaw/side forces during turbulence effects
•   Various UI adjustments for 125% and 150% scaling modes
•   Changed default maximum surface visibility to 20 miles for consistency between depiction modes
•   Updated Documentation to account for changes
•   Fixed problem with ASXP turbulence not effecting larger aircraft appropriately
•   Fixed issue regarding yaw forces seemingly persisting after turbulence events in some cases
•   Fixed problem with cirrus clouds not depicting in many cases when in default cell/theme depiction mode
•   Fixed some UI layout issues in certain cases
•   Fixed some language issues and typos in UI messages, descriptions and documentation
•   Fixed problem in password change function where password change may cause inability to login in some cases
•   Fixed issue with crosswind attenuation with gusts/variability present
•   Fixed problem with very long passwords
•   Fixed an issue regarding sigmet boundary parsing in some cases
•   Fixed problem regarding delayed/obsolete TAF data preventing proper interpolation in some cases
•   Fixed issue regarding AI aircraft data read in some cases (regarding certain add-ons that modify internal AI aircraft datarefs)
