Napoleon's Waterloo hat sold on anniversary of battle

Napoleon was well known for his "bicorne" (two-pointed) hats

A military hat belonging to Napoleon, said to have been salvaged from the battlefield after his 1815 defeat at Waterloo, has been sold at auction for 280,000 (245,000; $325,000).

The former French emperor was renowned for his "bicorne" hats, so-called because they had two points.

Napoleon's battle garb has become a focus for collectors over the years.

The red cloak he wore at Waterloo belongs to the Queen and has been in the Royal Collection since 1837.

The ankle-length, embroidered cloak was worn by Napoleon on the night before the French defeat and was looted from his carriage after the victory by Allied troops.

The De Baecque auction house confirmed Monday's sale in Lyon, 203 years to the day since the battle. The total sum for the hat including fees was just under 350,000, a spokeswoman told the BBC.

A French collector of historical pieces had bought the hat, the auctioneer told French media.

A man of many hats

The hat - which was bought by a private individual in 1986 - had been expected to fetch less than 40,000.

Tactical AI
o Improved logic of cavalry blocked frontally by friends (applied the same logic currently used by infantry)
o Applied the same antioverlap of infantry logic to the cavalry too
o Skirmishers activation distance no more fixed but corresponding to the reaction range of stance of brigade officer
o Brigade AI will not wheel of own decision, if at least one of his units is currently in a fort (the wheeling forced the brigade (sometime the full brigade) to leave the fort)
o The movement to the back of batteries will be no more stopped if the enemy is too near
o The movement of unlimbered guns at medium\long distance from the enemy is easier
o More skirmishers released for brigade with more aggressive Stances of AI
o Cavalry in Raid stance will not try to charge squares anymore
o Added the special stance Screen for the infantry battalions (specific AI routine different from that one of cavalry)
o Brigades using road march, if AI controlled, will leave the road march when the enemy is...

Hello everybody,

Three weeks have passed since the update 3.003 which started the early access of Bodenplatte. At the moment, we prepare to release another important update that will bring required functionality to support Steam requirements for the distribution of a new content. In addition to purely technical stuff 'under the hood', this will make running the game through Steam more streamlined, without entering login and password.

Meanwhile, the development of the new project goes according to the plan. Fw 190 A-8 will go into testing soon (to be released in Bodenplatte early access shortly thereafter) and engineers are already working on P-47D-28 flight model. 3D artist department works on several aircraft at once - P-47D-28, Fw 190 D-9, P-51D-15, Me 262 A, Hawker Tempest Mk.V series 2 and Bf 109 K-4 - some of them are nearly finished while the work on others just started.

Today we can show you the first WIP screenshots of two planes from this list: P-47D-28 и Fw 190 D-9.
