Microphone and Headphones (a decent set). A good background environment for you to play. It can be annoying and distracting when everyone hears your dogs barking, wife screaming at you, kids going crazy or if you are playing music. Be sensible.
Port Forwarding: Make sure the relevant ports are open.
    TCP/UDP: 2300 to 2400
UDP: 47624 (not required if just joining in 3.019 beta)

Suggested
It is a good idea to have gone through all of the tutorials for at least 1 vehicle.

Etiquette
The main lobby. This is where you will appear when you log in. You can chat to people here and ask for help. Games are not played here they are played in the various rooms or virtual units. The Steel Beasts community is generally friendly but there may be the odd  :crazy2: . It is generally a respectful environment. it's not like COD or other online games as this community is more mature. Introduce yourself. Tell them you are new if you are and what experience you have. The rest is easy. Same with entering a virtual unit room. Do not jump in and start demanding a game. They may be in the middle of a session. Just say hi and wait :) .

The VU or meeting will have a time listed. Do NOT be late. Try and be there at least 15 minutes early.

pm me if you would like to meet up on Teamspeak or if you have any questions drop them here on this thread.

Time zones
The Steel Beasts community are from all over the world. It can be difficult understanding meeting times. Heres a site i use:
http://www.timeanddate.com/ (http://www.timeanddate.com/)

Community
It is to early to give a definitive impression of the Steel Beasts community. However it is mainly made up of more "mature" people. There is a mix of serving and retired military as well as many knowledgeable enthusiasts. Don't worry if you are not an expert on armoured warfare as you can pick up lots of information on the way. I would say that the community has an average age of 40 (rough guestemate based on talking with many members). The price, complexity and software tends to keep the "arcade" crowd out.

Virtual Units
Most of these units have players/members from all over the world and are very welcoming. Time zone may dictate the times they are active though.
