Title: Malta
Post by: jcrohio on November 10, 2018, 05:29:45 PM
Just finished Malta Scenario.

Three things:
1. Might have found a bug. Multiple times I had 11-12 Air-Naval attacks but only the first six showed up in the report. Saved game included.

2. There are some German fighters in Egypt that cannot be used without being destroyed as they have no bases to than land at after combat.

3. In the Design Notes #6 is probably wrong. Should read Malta not Crete?

Thanks for the comments.  I put those on the list, and will analyze and fix for v1.0.11.

Fixed the German air unit return to base issue.  The initial location of the air units were in Allied held cities.
Also fixed the Design note text to reflect Malta.
These changes will show up on v1.0.11.

Having trouble re-creating the Report Display for air to naval combats.  The code is the same for all of the combat reports at the top of the command panel.  Please try more than six naval to naval to see if they also are having a problem.  Also, do you have v1.0.10?, I want to make sure we are operating on the same version.

Thanks,
Ron

The save game I included in the initial post has 15 air to naval combats but only six are reported. Look at hexes 302,342 (2 combats), 304,340 (1 combat), 202,268 (6 combats), 177,304 (3 combats), 179,303 (1 combat), 180,303 (2 combats). I am using version 1.10.

Hope this helps

Jack

Hey Ron

Playing the Western Desert Force and have the same issue as above but this time with Naval to Naval combat. Clustered around hex 165, 326 are reports indicating nine Naval to Naval combats. This is based on holding down the control key while moving the mouse to a hex. But if the Naval to Naval reports are brought up only six are showing. I have enclosed a save.

Make sense.  If there is a bug in Report display, it will be in all scenarios.
I have been out of town for Thanksgiving for the last few days, but should get a chance to look at this more closely.

Thanks,
Ron

Just noticed this today. Italian ships attacking Italian ships. Went back and checked the Western Desert Force file I sent you and that is also the case there.

Tell me more.  Was it the AI that did the attacking?

Version 1.10. I was playing as the Italians. British AI. Italian ships were on Search and Destroy missions trying to protect freighters on supply missions to Tripoli. Have a save game included four posts above.

That should be enough for me to analyze the code.  Will take a look this weekend.
Thanks,

Got a chance to analyze the file that you sent.  The combat and display capability was working fine, but the display of the unitid1 array which contains the names of the units (air, naval and ground) was corrupted.  Not sure how that happened, but was able to recreate the moves on my system and it worked and displayed correctly.

The file did help me to find the bug on display reports for the second column, and I fixed it for v1.0.11.  Bug was an unintended consequence from a an earlier patch.  I fixed the same bug in air to air, air to naval, naval to naval, and ground to ground.  The other reports only use the three character ID, which continues to work properly.

Thanks for the file,
Ron

Patch v1.0.11 is planned to be released between Christmas and New Year's Day.
