Title: Problems with the screen resolution
Post by: Reckall on August 06, 2019, 01:20:29 PM
I have WWII-E v.11 installed on Windows 7 running on a MacBook Pro via WMVare Fusion.

The screen resolution, thanks to the Retina Display, is 1440x900. However, when I launch WWII-E I get an error message: the screen must be set at a minimum of 1024x768.

I'm running other games on the same setup and resolution (like TOAW4 or John Tiller's Panzer Campaigns) and they work just fine. I never had the problem I'm encountering here.

Suggestions?

Interesting.  My games do not send a message like that.  We regularly run the games at higher resolutions than that.
Can you tell what software displayed that message?

Thanks,
Ron

The software displaying that error is WW II in Europe version 11. I solved the problem by upping the screen resolution to 1920x1200. Now the program runs normally.

Remember that I’m running it on a MacBook Pro with Retina display, under a Windows 7 emulator. I think that it is a problem of scaling. Maybe at 1440x900 the program “believes” that Windows is running under a much lower resolution (lower that the minimum requirement of 1024x768), whereas at 1920x1200 the minimum requisite is satisfied.

Anyway, I solved the problem and I’m fine. I hope that my experience will help other people playing the game under a Windows emulator.

Now it makes sense to me.  There is a minimum resolution needed.  Not often triggered, so I forgot about it.
Glad you figured it out, and shared with others.

Thanks,
Ron
