Once again into the Breech, this time with version 1.0.13
« on: November 28, 2024, 04:49:59 PM »
Its been what seems a few years and this time I am really determined to make this game stick in my head. It has so much potential and yet I have been thwarted by the unconventional UI.

Either I had previously downloaded the PDF version of the manual or it showed up with the 1.0.13 upgrade. But the PDF says version 1.0.12, close enough. I also brought up all three of the reference charts, one of which comes with the game and the other I think Asid created.

Now I am just going though the tutorial (starting on page 99 of the PDF) again to get reacquainted once more, hence into the breech.

However today is Thanksgiving so I won't get very far (currently on step 12, i.e., Congratulations, you are ready to start the scenario!

But off for some turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving all!

PS can you spot the slight issue here with this screenshot? Notice which hex I am viewing with the control key and hovering over hex 301,129 - Kuvshinovo, and notice where its located in regards to the front lines and what it says on who owns this city? See the discrepancy?

Performed both sides Air Operations. Losses were slightly in favor of the Soviets. Relearning the Air portion is done and fairly easy.

Here is the air attacks for boths sides (notice the white circles).

Completed turn 1 Ground Operations for the Soviets. Some questions I had were the following:

1. How many units (divisions/brigades) can be assigned/attached to a HQ? (so far it seems unlimited) Is there any penalties for over assigning? (so far none that I can see)
2. Is there a command range from a HQ to their subordinate units? If so what is that range? Does it change per level of HQ (i.e., Corps, Army, Army Group)?
3. Does leadership play a role? Are leaders rated for skill, morale and or other attributes?

Attacks in the Northern sector:

Attacks in the Southern sector:

Units marked with attack:

The combat report for the seven attacks:

Off to the German turn.
