Likewise, artillery observers are best parked at a distance (they still need to be able to spot the target area, of course).

The LOS tool should help you in the planning phase to identify dead spaces as well as locations that barely get a peek of the kill zone.

While the edges of forests draw particular attention by human observers, they do offer better concealment than many other places - that's why we're so paranoid about them so that they have lost a bit of their advantage. Still, a dark and mottled background is better than pro provide a clear silhouette against a brightly lit sky.

This was published in 2023. I noticed this about Steel Beasts Professional version 4.4 (I am not certain if these features have already arrived in version 4.397):

Interesting new features. I note that these features may or may not come to Steel Beasts Pro PE version 4.4, even though these features may already be present in Steel Beasts Pro:
