Important information about the Scourge of War Series

From September 1st, we will be delisting all the Scourge of War games from our sites and all other 3rd party sites.

The games will no longer be available for purchase, and we will consequently stop all support and assistance.

You have one week to add the titles to your libraries. Once bought, the games will remain in your libraries, and you will still be able to recover purchased games from download links. Steam keys will no longer work to redeem the product, so make sure you download your copy on Steam before the end of this month.

After taking a few years off, we are back looking at the games and what can be done to make them better. The games will no longer be for sale for the 'hopefully' short term. NSD has parted ways with Slitherine and thanks them for the many years of support

True, and this is admittedly only a statement of intention (so far). But ripcording with his publisher this hard does at least signal a strength of intention I guess!

A couple of years ago "Panther Games" with their "Command Ops" project seperated with Slitherine Group.

Then the franchise had been restructured and upgraded to version 2 with improvements. Its also a small team and they still seem to be very ambitious about getting it to a higher level.

So all in all it sounds like good news, cos there seems to be a chance again for improvements and workarounds.

Actually nothing really changes so far. Owners keep their files and libarys. The game still works like before. Well, ok, instead of 3-4 new dudes per year, mostly staying for a few weeks, we now can expect 0-1 as long as there isnt a new marketing platform. I dont feel desperate yet.

P.S.
I think we really need a real defence command so that a formation holds a defined position and the line is being continiously rebuilt by the AI.
And a function to assign units to other commanders in MP.

I was impressed at DoW's attempts at doing a campaign, though it seems to have fizzled out relatively quickly (or never got going far to begin with). Seems like something you could team up with Cyrano at Armchair Dragoon on, since he likes to run the Flag of Eagles system (if I recall correctly) played by email.

The idea is to release an AAR after the campaign has been finished. Many communication and sitrep happens in the closed forum sections of each faction. This content will be opened after the campaign.
Actually the campaign reached a decisive phase. The 3rd battle just began and it could occur a preliminary decision, should the initiated maneuvres continue in the Allied favor.
During the summer months there are always few players available, so atm we have a summer break.
I hope from october/november the generals return on the battlefield to complete this campaign soon.
Basically we are testing to optimize the campaign concept. Also Mitra provided a campaign-tool to calculate the numbers between the battles. I think the system is really promising to realize the desired imersion.

Great news for the return from vacations!!!

 I hope they make simple improvements such as being able to reassign units to players during the game or to join a multiplayer game without the need of restarting the game...

But for the game to sell outside the niche, will need graphical improvements and we'll see where that leads....

For the time being they have my full support, what less after all the fun they have given us.

PS-Ready for the new season of the Waterloo campaign, the end of the first season was quite a cliffhanger....l'mpereur has not yet said the last word!
