VBS3 v3.6 Supports Massive, Paged Terrains

Published on 10 Sep 2014

With the release of VBS3 v3.6 in late 2014, a key feature in the latest version of BISim's simulation software will be support for massive, paged terrain areas, thousands of kilometers in size with long view distances. For example, we have developed a terrain representing the East Coast of the United States, a 2200 km by 2200 km area. This massive terrain can load in VBS3 in under 10 seconds, depending on hardware. Paged terrain data can include areas of greater detail (high-detail insets), which means that you can include areas more accurately modeled with high-fidelity DTED or satellite imagery. VBS3 already supports procedural biotopes and soon VBS3 will also support procedural rendering of other terrain features such as roads. Our East Coast USA terrain was generated using TerraTools from TerraSim, a BISim company. Visit https://bisimulations.com/content/tue... for more details.
