BRAVE RIFLES
Mission 5

NOTE: The starting positions and condition of your units is according to playthrough by Gibsonm in February 2011...

Kleinenbremen, June 15th 1988, 0814hrs. 1st Squadron CO meets with Crazyhorse CO:

"Major,

During the last few hours, as you could hear from the radio, we had a major engagement with a Soviet BMP Regiment and T-tanks at Stadthagen. From what we've seen after that, it looks like we managed to give them a hell of a bloody nose, and they have stopped trying to attack us on the move. Instead, our intelligence guys say they have been massing artillery units east of Stadthagen, and moving fresh units from the BTR Regiments and Tank Regiment to the area around Stadthagen. We estimate the enemy attack will commence in a few hours time.

In your sector the enemy seems to have passified after you took out the battalion size force just east of here. Expect the enemy to hold the river crossings and the area of Bad Eilsen-Buchholz stubbornly. We suspect this is a flank guard force for them, so they won't send in much more units here. But they do know this unit here is a thorn in our side, so they will most likely try to hold.

Our Squadron is repairing and rearming ferociously north of you, and they are covering 3rd SQN deployment west of them. 3rd is ready in a few hours time, we hope, to take on the attacking enemy - and to hold it back. Our Squadron will delay and fight untill 3rd is ready and then they will wihdraw south covered by your Troop!

Mission:
Crazyhorse Troop will attack east along and north of E30, destroy any enemy units encountered, and establish Blocking/Supporting positions Kilo, Romeo and Lima (marked on your tactical map). The attack must commence NLT 0900hrs, a couple of hours earlier than I had in mind... After reaching the BPs, recon east along and north of E30 to find any further enemy units in our AOR. Avoid heavy contact there, force preservation is of utmost importance!

Support:
You have the fires of no more than 1 section of "King" Battery, 2 Howitzers. All other fires are currently being used on harassing the enemy deployment near Stadthagen. That is not much, I know, but "Longknife" will support you with a pair of "Nomad's" AH-1 Cobras. They will arrive in your AO 0900 and their designated killzone is marked on your map as EA Nomad. They will have radio comms with you and also provide vital enemy intel! Other than that the platoon from 43rd Combat Engineer Company "Sapper" is still under your command for this one.

"Muleskinner" is working hard to support the fixing of your damaged callsigns, but as you know, we have so many casualties to take care of, that there is not many people to spare.

QUESTIONS?

Prepare as well as you can, give them hell!"

Kleinenbremen, June 15th 1988, 0842hrs. Crazyhorse Maintenance Section leader rushes to Crazyhorse CO:

"Sir,

We did what we could in the time we had, but it ain't much! The good news first: The surviving crew of 5-4C investigated (on their own) the destroyed M1 column north of our positions and hell, the fellas bought back a fully functional Abrams! It still has most of its ammo and is barely scratched. The guys are eager to join the fight under callsign 9C! It seems like the tank was just abandoned and the original crew ran away when the column was hit. Hell, the guys said the turret floor was flowing with piss!

Then the bad news. Of the damaged vehicles we managed to put together all but 4 of the Brads, but they are not in too good shape. 2-1C has no LRF or Thermals, 2-4C has no LRF, 3-2C has no LRF, Thermals, nor ballistic computer, and the damaged Abe from 4C has no stabilizer, thermals, nor ballistic computer. The 4 Brads could not be repaired in time to take any part in this one...

I hope there's not much more trashing of our vehicles, we've ran out of spares for FCS and those are a bitch to repair, if not impossible!"

TRIGGERS:
TRIGGER 1: Use this trigger when you have finished the recon mission towards KATHRINHAGEN.

MISSION WILL END when:
- all BPs are cleared of enemy and under your control
- both withdraw routes are clear of enemy and under your control

- or if time limit 90 minutes is reached!
