B-1B At RAF Fairford

(1/1)

Rinix:
Crowds of aviation enthusiasts gathered at RAF Fairford to witness the Rockwell B-1B Lancer make its descent, October 6.

Many had travelled from across England to witness the landing, likely to be among the last in the UK as the B-1B class of bomber is slowly decommissioned ahead of the new B21 bomber plane.

The B-1B, also known as the Bone after its B-One designation, was originally a nuclear bomber used as a deterrent in the cold war.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, it was converted into a traditional heavy bomber and used frequently in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.
