We played this battle a couple month ago. In that battle I was commanding a corps and I was ordered to make an outflanking manoeuvre in the east while the other corps concentrated in attacking the centre.

I managed to cross the river but I was stopped by a delaying action and then by the coming of complete sandman's corps.

In the centre, IIRC we cross the river in one point but then we suffered losses because of the bad position at the bottom of the hill.

This time I was the CiC and first plan about this battle was to start with two probing attack in the west and in the centre and make some feint in the east to make the enemy believe that the main attack would be there.

So Samuel corps, with Jakmin commanding one of his divisions, went to the left and executed the orders.

Colbert's division under my corps positioned himself on a hill in the centre supported by the reserve artillery corps but immediately my feeling was that that was not a good position for us to start an attack from, because I heard a lot of enemy guns firing upon him and the terrain was not good once we would have left the hill to move to attack.

So I slightly changed my plan and set the main attack of my corps to the ford further east, hoping that the feint in the far East recalled some enemy reserve there.

I quickly crossed the ford with a brigade, supported by artillery and a regiment of cavalry, charging the skirmishers in the woods and taking control of the northern bank of the river.

In the meantime I urged Samuel corps to attack what seemed only an infantry division and then moving to the western enemy depots.

I also recalled the second brigade, berruyer cavalry brigade and a division I had in reserve (I still had another division behind Colbert as last reserve).

I saw asalex starting to retreat from the hill so I thought that the attack I in the west was working good and I thought that briefly the forces in front of me would have retreated too. But they stayed there and fought!

Asalex completely left the hill to my left and I ordered Colbert to move there. I also gave order to my last reserve division to move in the centre with the last cavalry regiment to support Colbert and eventually to join with the corps coming from the west.

In the meantime I tried to outflank the prussian in front of me but suddenly appeared a division supported by cavalry coming from NE, so I had to stop the attack and set up a defence.

As I understood, the feint in the east worked very well, the Prussians feared to be outflanked and had to leave forces to guard their rear.

In this scenario is very difficult to decide what to do because both the attacker and the defender have a limited view on the enemy.

I'd like to play this scenario as defender because I think it's very very challenging

I am glad to hear, that a scenario I created is worth to be replayed.  :howdy

If I remember correctly, the first time we played the scenario the defender with CiC Neil (for me it was like a deja-vu, cos the previous time I played the same formation and until a certain point I have been ordered to move the same routes to fight the identical opponent general) comfortably won the battle.  :gamer

General Biondo´s deception seems to have been successful, cos I ve been sent in the E while general Zubenko requested my help when I was already on my way.
On the other hand I could retrieve General Ghandi´s division on our left wing.
