About This Game

Valor & Victory is a fast-playing, easy to learn World War II squad-level game system. Based on the original Valor & Victory board game, the digital edition provides you with an accessible and deep challenge, developed for classic tabletop game lovers.

With 20 scenarios based around real events shortly after the Normandy Landings in 1944, the game challenges you to achieve different objectives: eliminate the enemy, capture objectives or exit certain units off of the map.

Valor & Victory is a complete WWII wargaming system, covering infantry and armored combat, close assaults, armored overruns, fortifications, and much more.

COMMAND, FIRE, MOVE, DEFEND, ADVANCE. REPEAT

Just like the original board game, each turn is divided into phases:

• Command: Automatically rally your troops, split or merge your squads and exchange weapons. In the command phase, you lay the foundations for a successful turn.

• Fire: Check your line of sight and firepower, and prepare to set the battlefield on fire. If you have any eligible weapon, you can fire smoke instead of attacking and gain extra protection for your units.

• Move: Move any of your units that did not attack during the previous phase, and try not to be taken by surprise: hostile opportunity fire may be just around the corner.

• Enemy Defense: Be ready to defend your squad. Enemies that did not opportunity fire will have their last chance to harm your units.

• Advance: Advance any of your units by one hex, or conduct a close assault with your infantry forces.

You will roll the dice to determine the combat results, but your luck is in your hands: wise use of terrain, covers, leaders, hindrance and many more modifiers will greatly improve your chances of success.

MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT

Valor & Victory comes with full multiplayer support: challenge your friends in 1v1 multiplayer matches over PBEM and hotseat. If you’re looking to test your skills, sign up for official tournaments and climb the leaderboard as well.

SCENARIO EDITOR

An extremely intuitive built-in scenario editor allows you to build and play your own scenarios either against the AI or against your friends. Pick a map, set the objective, choose the factions, place units and defenses where you prefer. Add details and customize your rules: decide the number of turns, the weather conditions and the starting team. The scenario editor gives you all the tools to create custom, unlimited different challenges.

Features

•   20 scenarios based around real events shortly after the Normandy Landings in 1944
•   PBEM and tournament support
•   A combat system loyal to the original board game
•   Built-in, easy to use scenario editor

Valor & Victory, to be released on June 17th, is entering the last stage of beta testing, and we're now running a beta tournament. If you're in the beta and would like to help, you can sign up here.

The gameplay in Valor & Victory is as loyal as possible to the original boardgame, and each turn is divided into specific phases. This first video tutorial covers Command Phase and Fire Phase.

Command Phase:
the game starts with the Command phase, during which you will be able to combine and split your squads and exchange weapons.

Fire Phase:
simply select the units and then click on any enemy in line of sight to order your units to shoot. Then wait for the die roll to determine the combat outcome. The die will take into consideration your total Firepower and any potential hindrance modifier.

Check it out!

Valor & Victory - How to play #2
Mon, 31 May 2021

Second video in a series of tutorial videos

Valor & Victory
is going to be released on June 17th. In this second tutorial video, we will be covering more phases in Valor and Victory. The Movement phase, the Defensive Fire phase and the Advance and Assault phase.

•  Movement Phase:
This phase is the phase in which you will be able to move your units. Units that have fired before this phase will be unable to do anything in the movement phase, however.

•  Defensive Fire Phase:
This phase sits between the fire and the movement phase. It allows you to attack any visible enemy during their turn.

•  Advance and Assault Phase:
Similar to the movement phase, you will be able to move but only to single tile nearby. You will immune to counterattacks during movement in this phase and movement into an enemy tile will trigger a deadly melee attack.

Check it out the full tutorial below:

Valor & Victory: Stalingrad is out NOW

Valor & Victory: Stalingrad is the first DLC for Valor & Victory, the squad-level tactical game set in World War II and based on the original counter board game.

In this DLC, a brand new playable faction has been introduced to the game: the Soviet Union. It comes with its own new units, support weapons, anti-tank guns, armour, transports and more.

Set in the Eastern front, fully featuring the entirety of the Battle of Stalingrad, perhaps the most important battle in World War II and turning point of the war. There are 14 new, exciting scenarios that follow the historic events as well as 13 new maps.

The new scenarios are extremely varied and will provide you with new and original tactical situations that you will need to face. Moreover, hills and ravines are included, blocking or enhancing LOS. Units can move around the terrain using hills and valleys without being seen by the enemy. On top of that new terrain types have been introduced, so you can have even more map variety.
The Stalingrad DLC will be released alongside a free update for the base game. This update will contain significant additions in the form of new content and features to better represent the close conflict of the era. These include: infantry mortars, flamethrowers and off-board artillery support as well as air support, snipers, minefields, and more.

Artillery has long been known as the king of the battlefield, but snipers were also a primary source of unseen fear. The Stalingrad DLC introduces them both to Valor & Victory.

Snipers are activated when an opposing infantry unit rolls a natural 12 while making an AP or AT attack. They have the ability to appear in cover within LOS of the attacking unit that triggered the sniper, simulating their ability to be lurking literally anywhere.

Enjoy the DLC and let us know what you think about it!

Valor & Victory: Shield of Cholm is coming soon
Mon, 27 June 2022

Shield of Cholm, the second DLC for Valor & Victory, will be available on July 7th, 2022.

Cholm’s emergence onto the stage of historical events of World War II came about as a result of the Russian Winter Offensive of 1941-1942. In January 1942 the Soviet Red Army began a series of counter offensives against the German Army. The Germans started to withdraw and occupied the strategic town of Cholm. To keep the offensive going the Russians needed to capture Cholm. The Germans, from their perspective, could ill afford to lose this strategic point.

Despite the appearance of a run of the mill Russian village, Cholm was of strategic significance: it held a bridge across the lengthy Lovat River and dominated a road nexus of four main roads amid an otherwise large, marshy and low lying area .

The DLC comes with an update of the base game:

Battle Generator
Create random scenarios
Choose the sides, scenario size and forces types

Fog of War
Per scenario option for opponents being hidden when not in LOS

Difficulty Balance
Manage Dice bias for a harder or easier game
The Shield of Cholm DLC is based on the Kampfgruppe Scherer supplement from Le Franc Tireur.

12 New Scenarios
Huge maps, larger than any released in Valor & Victory so far.

New Units
Partisans, Conscripts, Russian Assault Engineers

New terrain types
Rubble, debris, escarpments & ice

Valor & Victory: Shield of Cholm - out now
Thu, 7 July 2022

Shield of Cholm, the second DLC for Valor & Victory, is out now.

It’s January 1942 and the Soviet Red Army has begun a series of counter offensives against the German Army. The Germans have started to withdraw and have occupied the strategic town of Cholm. To keep the offensive going the Russians need to capture Cholm. The Germans, from their perspective, could ill afford to lose this strategic point. Very quickly, the town of Cholm became surrounded and was cut off, creating what was then called the Cholm Pocket.

The new DLC features two huge maps, larger than any released in Valor & Victory so far, and twelve new scenarios
that occur on the large maps, or on smaller areas of the maps.

New units
have also been introduced: Partisans, Conscripts, Russian Assault Engineers as well as new terrain types: rubble, debris, escarpments & ice.

Valor & Victory: Shield of Cholm is based on the Kampfgruppe Scherer supplement from Le Franc Tireur. It releases alongside an update of the base game: with the Battle Generator you can now create random scenarios and choose the sides as well as the scenario size and force types; with the Fog of War option opponents can now choose to be hidden when not in LOS. Also a difficulty balance has been introduced: you can manage Dice bias for a harder or easier game.

Tune in today on our Slitherine Twitch Channel at 3.30pm GMT where Hexaboo will show you the new DLC.

After downloading Valor & Victory: Shield of Cholm, do not miss the chance to sign-up to the new tournament “Shield of Cholm (DLC Required)”. You can sign-up here. https://www.slitherine.com/tournaments
The tournament follows Swiss Tournament rules: you can find the full list of rules here. https://www.slitherine.com/tournaments/rules
The first round will commence on Monday, 18th July 2022 at 9am GMT. No further entries can be accepted after the tournament has begun.

The tournament will last 3 rounds, 21 days each. Games are paired, so each matchup will be played both ways. All you need to do is sign up, then the system will pair you with opponents and create your PBEM games. You will be notified by mail of when the tournament is starting and when it will be time to play your turns.

To celebrate this moment, the DLC will be part of the Valor & Victory complete bundle. If you don't own Valor & Victory yet, you can buy the base game and the two DLCs with a 10% off discount. If you already own the base game or the DLC, or both, you can buy the games you miss and complete your collection with a 10% discount.
