SITUATION

 4 Months ago the government of Chechnya  has been pleading to the United Nations to assist the new nation with reports of sickness and famine that has been wide spread through out the country after a very long and cold winter.
  Once UN forces and aid personal got established in the country Chechnya rebels conducted extensive attacks in the Russian city's of  Moscow , Saratov and Penza. In three days there were bombings on 24 government buildings and 17 government officials to include the Russian president and family was kidnapped and executed. Over  330 people were killed in the bombings and the people of Russia were saying they had little confidence in any new leadership. 
 Moscow was in chaos and martial law was established to bring the city to order.  With new government vice officials in place the Russian army was mobilized and massed on the northern border of Chechnya in days.
 Russia demands that the UN forces leaves “the terrorist state of Chechnya.” The Russian government insists that “any nation that stays to assist the terrorists will be dealt with as terrorists”   
 Disregarding extreme pressure from the United States the UN ceases humanitarian operations and six nations left Chechnya.
 Germany and the United States are the only two nations in Chechnya.
 After being massed on the border for 7 days waiting for the NATO forces to comply the new Russian government attacks south with decisiveness that the Chechen's have not seen before.  New Moscow vows they will not stop until the Chechen insurgency is crushed.
   Russian forces have been pushing south non stop for the last three weeks. They have plowed through NATO forces successfully for the last 23 Kilometers.

 The 14th Motorized Rifle Battalion has new T-72s and BMP-1s with troop support. The 14th MRB has held OBJ. FRANCE for  days. They have had much time to build up there defensive positions and build battle position and infantry fight positions.  The 14th MRB has been conduction combat operations for the last 3 weeks and been successful. They are well trained and now combat experienced. S-2 expects this unit is in much need of rest and resupply. Recent reconnaissances photos suggests this unit has been receiving new T-80 MBTs. The longer this unit stays in active  the better suppled it will be.

2) Mission:
 
  Your task force will conduct a deliberate assault on OBJ. FRANCE and OBJ. JAPAN. NLT 0900.  OBJ FRANCE will be used as a forward operations base and future airfield for US forces a few kilometers south of our position. It is important that you report capturing OBJ. FRANCE (Trigger 3) so the US forces can start moving to there new assembly area. Expect a strong defense at both east and western passes. S-2 expects the enemy will use those two passes as defense points in there defense plan. We also expect the enemy will have a counter attack element or some kind of reenforcement unit. S-2 suspects using a two pronged attack would best method to move the enemy reenforcement unit away from your main assault force.  Your second objective will be to destroy all enemy armor in the area so the enemy can not consolidate forces and set up any other further combat operations. This is the first time we have seen the enemy slow down. We must expect that the enemy is resupplying and refitting equipment. We must use this opportunity to hit the enemy hard and destroy as much of there vehicles and equipment before we hold there objectives.



3) Execution:

   o  Consolidate your units to conduct a deliberate assault. 

   o  Use some of your forces for reconnaissances of your attack routes.

   o  Move your units around the mine fields.

   o  Clear and hold OBJ. FRANCE and report up. US forces will move to hold OBJ. FRANCE when you report.

   o  Try to destroy all enemy armor.

   o  Clear and hold OBJ. JAPAN.

   o  Hold both OBJ. FRANCE and JAPAN to end the mission.

The first wave of targets is destroyed. Unfortunately, enemy reinforcements move in. We lose 5 tanks in the bottleneck to the east of OBJ France.
