Hi guys and ciao. I have the replay and maybe this evening I'll upload something here.

This scenario had a French corps, commanded by asalex, defending a village in the northeast. The British (SamuelGim and Colbert) were deployed south of it with a theoretical advantage in numbers (can't remember exactly but something like 15000 Vs 23000).

A second French corps (sandman) was marching from northwest in his help but a small village occupied by one infantry and one cavalry division (me) stood in between holding the road to the east (here the power balance was 15000 French Vs 8000 British).
The winner was who hold at the end of the battle the village in the northeast, no matter about points or losses.

Samuel was our CiC. During the briefing he asked me how long could I resist there; I estimated one hour and no more. My line of retreat was south of the village, where I had to cross a bridge and then march eastward to rejoin SamuelGim's corps.

Samuel's plan was something I didn't think about when I made the scenario and was the sequent: I had to hold against sandman until Colbert's and his brunswickers arrives from the east and relieve my position. In the meantime he attacks the main objective and I had to march south then east to join him in the attack.

So the battle started and I decided to deploy north of the town; 12 guns, one Hanoverian brigade supporting the guns and the two cavalry brigades on both flanks. Other two infantry brigades in the rear, inside the town, as reserves.

Time was my friend.

Sandman slowly arrived and deployed one division in front of my hannoverians, with light and heavy batteries in front of them. Cavalry was just behind this double line. Then a second division marched to my right, threatening my flank and a third division was deployed on the right of his first division.

I immediately sent one reserve brigade to protect my right, detaching a squadron to their support. Still no words from Colbert but the French were not attacking hard. No news from Samuel on the other front.

But time was my friend.

First engagements went good for me, on the right I had veterans troops and Colbert was marching to rescue me. In the centre sandman advanced to canister range and I had to fallback with a couple of battalions but still in order.

The third division started to move to my left flank and I had to commit my last brigade. Also those troops were veterans but now I know that my centre is at very high risk and if my centre collapses, everything is lost! Sandman knows it too.

Colbert sent me a message: I'm coming from south,I see French flag, where do you need me?

I replied to attack on my right so I can move that brigade to support the centre. But Colbert was still a bit too far.

Time is becoming my enemy.

Sandman attacked in the centre, there was confusion, he charged with cavalry, I tried to counter with mine but I hadn't enough of them, I already sent one squadron to the right then another in his support and then another again to the left.

The hannoverians collapsed while I just gave orders to my batteries to withdraw to the south. Colbert was arrived on my rear right but I couldn't hold the village one minute more and I tried to disengage.

I resisted one hour…

All in all my defense went good, I raked over 1000 points but after the retreat, I had 400 points… the French had pursued my men making prisoner and inflicting a lot of damage.

Now my fear was that Colbert could be destroyed in the mid term by sandman who lost some men but still had a good advantage in numbers, Colbert division is only around 6000 men strong although with nearly 1000 fresh cavalry.

So I wrote to Samuel telling him about this situation and he replied me that he gave order Colbert to fallback and follow me, then to attack together from southwest.

Once all my men rallied at the retreat point, I started moving east: by a rapid check, I had division halved and exhausted. I need to make them rest; but the clock is ticking.

The time is now my enemy.

I was marching towards my new rally point and I saw, in the distance, French flags waving, no signs of any friendly unit.
In a previous message, Samuel told me that things against asalex went good but he had to retreat because he too suffer from the fight and feared about the possibility that sandman was marching on him.

At this point I suspected that asalex counterattacked Samuel and push him to the south. Far in the North I saw sandman's troops marching to the east to reinforce the main objective, I couldn't move to intercept him because my troops were still recovering and there were French everywhere in front of me to the east.

Chaos was in my head.

Finally I saw Samuel on his horse, in the far east respect my position and I immediately sent him couriers asking about what to do and reporting that Colbert still didn't joined me. Meanwhile the French under asalex were withdrawing to the north forming, with sandman's division, a new line on top of a crest.

Samuel replied that Colbert was counterordered to pursue sandman attacking him from the west, I had to attack from southwest while he attack from south and east.

But we were still not ready and clock was ticking.

Time was our enemy and enemy's friend.

The order to start the attack never arrived to me, probably intercepted, but I decided to advance trying to coordinate with Colbert.

Twenty or fifteen minutes to sunset, we advanced against sandman's line, thinking about making the most violent attack we can deliver, but the French line held.

We inflicted a lot of casualties, we bring a lot of men to crush the enemy but time finished.

Someone told: strategy is the art of making use of time and space. I am less concerned about the latter than the former. Space we can recover, lost time never.

And strategically we lost.

It was kinda relaxing not having to care about casualities and points.  :sifone

But it was also kinda nasty to bring on the Domon-Cavalry with the mysterious moral issue, wasnt it? When I joined asalex at the main objective there were only 3 shaking squadrons, avoiding anymore contacts left.  :scared1
At least at the waypoint engagement before they didnt rout against fleeing infantry.  :chg :waving-white-flag
