If someone wonders... why to do that...  it was wargame exercise and apparently there was created camouflage / rpg stopper made by this way.  Or that is how I see it.  or just training.

Some tankers told me that sometimes places where they are told are not ideal...  for example if you cannot move barrel on hulldown position since tree...   tree is to step away. ;)   or if you cannot see to place that you are told to observe... you will simple drive forward and backwards (if you can)  until you can see your firing sector. :D
