When the harshness of the sea meets the cruelties of war, a challenge for perseverance makes itself known. And it is like none other. Aircraft Carrier Survival - Alpha test dock

About

In Aircraft Carrier Survival you assume command of huge transport vessels in the setting of World War II, ones that outmatched even the fiercest battleships in size. This simulator challenges the player's quick wit and management skills as a means to ensure the survival of an imposing aircraft carrier in the strain of combat action and time spent in the treacherous sea.

The aircraft carrier is the central vessel of any respectable military fleet. As you take charge of this flagship's crew during the time of humanity's most dreadful conflict, you will face a number of challenges:

– fire outbreaks,
– torpedo strikes,
– hull flooding,
– enemy bombardment,
– airstrikes,
– suicide attacks from enemy planes,

– sabotage,
– mutinies,
– mental breakdowns among crew members.

Aircraft Carrier Survival features a number of missions types with different objectives you have to complete as you protect your vessel, and its crew, from the threats listed above. These include:

– surviving in battle while offering support to an air force,
– recruiting adequate people for your vessel,
– restoring the morale of a shaken crew.

Dev log #1 - Officers and Island
Mon, 21 September 2020

Officers and Island

Today we would like to introduce the Island - a command centre where all tough decisions are being made and where you can find your elite personnel.

Management
You will assign your trusted people to various rooms - each unlocking different bonuses and allowing access to different orders.

On the surface, the officer management may seem very simple - assign your people in order to ensure the high efficiency of departments. Obviously more experienced officers will provide higher bonuses. Each room is responsible for different sections of the carrier and assigning an officer will boost the section's performance. There is, however, a lot more to it.

Not all officers can be assigned everywhere on the Island. It is important to have both aircraft officers and navy officers on the rooster. Each room on the island is described as “AIR” or “NAVY”. Officers can be assigned only to rooms they specialise in which must be taken into account during the recruitment process.

Admiral
Then, there’s the admiral. The admiral is a special character that you can customise at the start of the game and develop over time. He’s unique in a sense that he can work in both AIR and NAVY rooms which means he can close the gap in your rooster - but only one thing at the time.

Orders
Finally and perhaps most importantly, each assigned officer counts either towards AIR or NAVY focus and allows you to issue special orders. Different orders require different distribution of officers between AIR and NAVY rooms. For example, there’s the carrier resupply order used to engage this crucial operation or the defensive order used to assume defensive position against known incoming attacks.

Your officers are not machines - they will tire and require rest. Send them to Officers’ Quarters when they’re exhausted.

Officers will become your most trusted companions during dangerous missions on the Pacific Ocean.

That's it for today’s dev log. In the upcoming days, we will cover damage control, flight deck operations, defending the task force, preparing tactical missions and much more. Stay tuned!

Dev log #2 - Intermission
Fri, 25 September 2020

Intermission

In the Dock
Let’s talk about upgrades and progression. The Second World War was a time of rapid technological progression. We prepared a system with that in mind. You'll be able to customise and upgrade most aspects of your carrier and eventually even unlock other carrier classes.

Resources
Each level of the game gives you the opportunity to earn a certain amount of Command Points (CP) and Upgrade Points (UP).

CP’s represent the experience your people gained. You can use it to advance and specialise your crew teams and decorate your officers.

UP’s represent technological advancement and can be spent on upgrading the carrier.

Aircraft
The planes you take on the carrier can also be upgraded. With enough UP’s you can change their base model to a more advanced one. We will not reveal which models are going to be available in the game yet, but you can write your guesses in the comments!

Upgrading planes will increase their potency and safety in combat, which makes them one of the most important upgrades to make.

Task Force
You’ll be able to modify the Task Force around the carrier and increase it in size. Each ship chosen for the Task Force in the dock menu will be represented as the entire squadron of ships on the open sea. All choices regarding the Task Force composition will have a very strong impact on the gameplay. Ship types chosen in the intermission will unlock planning unique strategic operations. For example, a squadron of destroyers will allow submarine hunting.

World Map
The intermission is also where you chose your next destination. We planned the game to progress in a nonlinear fashion. This means that you, as the Admiral, can choose the priority of missions and pick ones you decide are more important or grant better advantages for the future.

That’s it for today. This and much more is now available on the intermission screen of the game. Feel free to share your thoughts & ideas in the comments and see you next time!

Get Prologue now for free
Wed, 31 March 2021

Hello, Admirals!

We have some fantastic news to share with you!

The game lets you explore a totally different branch of the military - the Navy! Instead of repairing tanks that used to serve in the Army, take command of a full-blown aircraft carrier. Select your own crew, officers, equipment, and escort to complete each mission successfully. However, the seas are treacherous – you have to survive in a hostile environment in the middle of the ocean and fight back against your enemies.

You need to plan your missions, target your objectives and keep your crew safe from attacks. You can do that by assigning your crewmen to man the AA guns and aircraft or order them to handle hull flooding, fire outbreaks, and other threats

Dev log #4 - Crew Management and Defence
Fri, 28 January 2022

Crew Management and Defence

Crew and Defence

In this dev log, we will take a look at the crew members working on your aircraft carrier and how to manage them. These people keep your entire operation running, but assigning them to do the right tasks will make a huge difference in how quickly things are done on the ship. We will also go into the topic of defence - a crucial tool in preventing damage from oncoming attacks.

Crew Management

Managing crew is simple - in the crew management menu, you will see crew units, represented with portraits. Each unit consists of about 100 men. As long as these units are healthy, you can drag and drop them to assign them to different department slots. Each unit provides efficiency to their department, and each department is responsible for different functions. Assign units to the departments where you want the biggest boost, but keep in mind that they will need time to transfer to a new department - so plan ahead! In addition, each unit has specialties that will impact how big of a bonus their department receives. Some units are better suited for specific departments, and some of them prefer to work alone or in a full team.

In addition, each unit has specialties that will impact how big of a bonus their department receives. Some units are better suited for specific departments, and some of them prefer to work alone or in a full team.

Defence

Preparing the carrier’s defences in time is the key to surviving enemy attacks. The amount of defence points your fleet has at the moment of attack is compared to the enemy’s attack power. If you match it or exceed it - you’re very unlikely to take damage. But, if your defence is lower than the attack power, you better brace for impact - things are about to get dangerous! Your defence points can be increased in several ways.

You can assign crew units to man Anti-Aircraft Gun stations, just as you would any other department. The number of slots available in the AA section depends on how well your carrier is equipped - you can upgrade your ship to add more of them. With a well-prepared AA section, enemy planes will have a much harder time hitting your carrier.

When preparing for a mission, you get to select the types of ships that will accompany you in your naval escort. You can choose to stack your fleet with Cruisers - each group of them will add defence points passively.

Another way to gain defence points is by using your officers in the carrier’s island. Assigning an officer to the Combat Information Center will provide you with a point of defense, but that's not all - you can also issue an order for your naval escort to enter defensive position, allowing better protection from attackers.

If that’s not enough, you can always launch a Combat Air Patrol mission - this way a group of your best fighter planes will circle the area around the carrier, protecting from attacks and keeping an eye out for submarines.

That is all for now. Keep an eye out for more exciting updates and news!

DevLog #5 New Carriers!
Wed, 9 February 2022

New Carriers! What is new

Hi! In today’s devlog we'll talk about aircraft carriers… literally! Up to this day, there was only one aircraft carrier available in the game - CV-3 inspired by USS Saratoga.

It only had two elevators, a relatively thin deck and not that much space on the island. Whether in campaign or in the Sandbox mode, you now can upgrade to CV-5 and later on to CV-9. Let’s talk about their strengths.

CV-5

Inspired by USS Yorktown - a magnificent weapon of war - modernized and upgraded in almost every aspect when compared to the CV-3. Upgrading to CV-5 in the game gives a lot of benefits:
Additional aircraft elevator ensure much faster deployment of planes
New Island room grants access to three game-changing switches
A bunch of minor but useful upgrades!

CV-9

An Essex Class inspired colossus. Upgrading to this one enables you as an Admiral to dominate the ocean. CV-9 is better in almost every way than its predecessors, but not for free. The maintenance needed for this beast of a carrier is enormous. Make sure you have a lot of crew teams available and your damage control tactics are on point!

We won’t spoil all the fun by listing out features through. Get it in the game and see for yourself!

DevLog #7 Campaign Mission Variety
Fri, March 11, 2022

Hi! Today we’ll talk about the campaign.

Previously there were only three missions available. Those who played the demo or the prologue surely remember the invasion of Port Moresby on the Coral Sea.
You had to navigate around enemy strike groups in order to reach a strategic position and stop the enemy troopships before they invaded the island. A time game was challenging and provided some extra depth to the objective. It was not only about targeting and sinking enemy ships. Positioning and prioritising targets played a role too. We wanted to have more missions such as this one, but even more creative and fun. Let me tell you about a couple examples.

Sea Battle

The campaign will be divided into four chapters. We wanted to end the chapter with a bang so one of the final missions happens amidst the entire naval battle. Dozens of ships on both sides fight each other over the large sea area. Your goal is to assist your allies and eliminate the key targets or provide enough firepower to tip the scales of victory.

In order to illustrate the progress, we implemented a mechanic which allows non-carrier ships to bombard each other and cause damage. The remaining forces on both sides are visualised on a two-coloured progress bar. Once any end of this bar goes down to zero, the battle is over and the losing side is considered overwhelmed and must retreat.

Rescue Mission

What if there are people awaiting rescue, enemies are still nearby and we are the only major force in the area? This is the foundation of one of the missions.

There are lifeboats with people awaiting rescue around the map. They are running out of drinking water and strength to stay afloat. You can split your forces and arrange for rescue missions, but then you will become an easy target for enemies that may still be around.
