The Federation has provided access to a new line of advanced defensive turrets due to the increased Arachnid threat facing the great city of Mahanagar. Because each turret type has its own strengths and weaknesses, it is crucial to find the right mix and position them correctly to repel the Bug attack waves.

Autocannon & Mortar Turrets
The Autocannon Turret is designed for engaging medium-armored and airborne enemies. It has good armor and high hitpoints, providing an excellent frontline barrier. But keep in mind that while this turret can fire over infantry units and most other turrets, it cannot fire over elevations or tall obstacles. Also, its efficiency decreases when engaging numerous targets due to the cannons overheating fairly quickly.
The Mortar Turret is designed to complement the Autocannon Turret, as it excels against masses of unarmored enemies with its large area of effect. It has indirect fire, allowing it to lob projectiles over both units and terrain elevations. However, the Mortar Turret projectiles are slow-moving, and the turret has a significant minimum range, making it ineffective against fast-moving targets and more vulnerable to direct attacks.
Together, these two turret types provide a balanced defense against a wide range of lower tier Bug types.

Heavy Gun Turret & Sentry Turret
The Heavy Gun Turret has a large cannon that fires projectiles capable of piercing even the most heavily armored Arachnids. The turret's drawbacks include a fairly slow reload time and slow rotation speed, which hinders its effectiveness against large numbers of enemies and fast moving targets.
The new Riot Shield Squad unit has the ability to launch a container that deploys a “Sentry Turret”. These small turrets operate autonomously and cannot be controlled directly by the player. They provide temporary, automated fire support, but expire after a short duration, making them ideal for creating brief strategic advantages during intense combat situations.

Ballistic Missile Turret
Optimized for long-range engagements, the Ballistic Missile Turret boasts an impressive range and fires armor-piercing missiles. These missiles feature a built-in homing system that increases the likelihood of hitting moving targets. The turret is designed specifically for taking out hard-to-reach priority targets, as its very slow reload time makes it virtually useless in direct confrontations.

New Resource: Materiel
To acquire these advanced defensive units, a new resource type has been introduced. This resource, called Materiel, is used for buying mechanical units and turrets. It regenerates slowly after losing units that require this resource, meaning frequent losses could cause significant delays in restocking and redeployment.

The Closed Beta for our Urban Onslaught DLC is still running. If you're eager to experience the new content first-hand and help shape its development, this is your chance! Sign up for the closed beta here https://www.slitherine.com/beta/starship-troopers-terran-command-urban-onslaught

That’s all for this update. We are certain that these new turrets will make you feel safer while defending your neighborhood. Lets just hope there is no Brain Bug present...
