In the digital adaptation of Isaac Childres’ ultimate strategic board game (6 Golden Geek awards, “Board Game of the Year” in 2017), developed by Flaming Fowl Studios, you play as a squad of 2-4 mercenaries each with a huge selection of unique abilities.

Acclaimed by both board game players and critics (highest rated game of all time on BoardGameGeek.com), this turn-based tactical RPG set in a unique medieval dark fantasy universe, rewards strategic planning and problem solving. Prepare yourself fully for every journey by picking your party members and their abilities wisely, because in the turmoil of battle, your team synergy and tactics are all that will give you the upper hand. The world of Gloomhaven is unforgiving, so if you enter a dungeon ill-prepared, don’t expect to leave.

If you survive your perilous journey, you’ll gain the opportunity to upgrade your abilities, purchase new gear and unlock new mercenaries. Gloomhaven Roadmap Updated

The adventure continues...

This week was a real milestone in Gloomhaven Digital's adventure: we released the first major update including:

•   a fifth mercenary, Tinkerer, including all of his level 1, and 3 of his X cards, as well as 10 cards to unlock while leveling up
•   the highly requested tutorial
•   a slew of features and content following community feedback including, the removal Durability from the game, the implementation of X cards for the all the current mercenaries, etc.

But it is just the beginning, and many milestones will appear throughout the Early Access of Gloomhaven: due to the overall complexity of the rules, UI/UX and general design of Gloomhaven, we are relying on your engagement and feedback to ensure we develop a great video game based on an incredible board game.



As you can see, the roadmap has evolved since we are planning on changing our development priorities based on the communities feedback and responses. This does however indicate our general plan of action in which we will be rolling out all of the content of the board game and more over the course of Early Access, with the release of the full campaign and multiplayer alongside the full launch.

But we can assure you that we are eager to test the full campaign AND multiplayer on steam… but good things come to those who wait.

Our next major content update is planned for Q4 with Mindthief, new environments, new enemies, bosses, more cards for released characters, new items, perks & enhancements. But fear not, as we will be radually be rollin out more new content and features between these major updates as well.

Gloomhaven’s First Community Challenge starts January 23!

Well, if you thought the unforgivable world of Gloomhaven was too challenging, sit back and take a breath!

Starting now, we are officially launching the Gloomhaven’s Community Challenges!

Throughout the year, you’ll have to work as a team and face challenges as a community in order to unlock exclusive skins for each of the mercenaries available right now. Each challenge will ask you to push your limits and work as a global squad of fearless mercenaries during a limited time to reach a common objective. When the challenge is complete, the skin will be available for every player to choose in-game.

Look at the Nightcrawler skin for Scoundrel - already available in Gloomhaven’s Early Access.



The very first challenge will take place from January 23 to February 06.

Dear warriors, here is your first community challenge:
Reach 250 000 enemy kills with any class.

The class with the highest kills during the challenge duration will be released in an upcoming update. This will also determine the order in which skins will be released for the future community challenges! Do note that the Scoundrel already has her skin unlocked for all, and as such is not a part of this event.

We’re not sure if love can survive on those dungeons, but this will be our Valentine gift to you… ever so slightly in advance.

As we wish those skins to be a surprise to every player, we’ll only let you have a quick look at them…



Follow your progress as you and your teammates get closer to the challenge’s achievement on Facebook, Twitter and Discord where we will post updates on the evolution of the challenge.

It is now time to call for help, gather your allies and go through the dangerous dungeons of Gloomhaven in order to accomplish this objective. You don’t want to miss out on the chance of unlocking this special skin!

We're happy to announce that the goal of 250,000 kills has been achieved within the allotted time, you have actually managed to kill more than 265,000 monsters in the dungeons of Gloomhaven!

That's a lot of monsters, but who killed the most? Cragheart, Mindthief, Spellweaver, Brute or Tinkerer? Below you can see which mercenary achieved the most kills to know not only which skin will be released in the upcoming patch, but also the order the skins will be released for the future Community Challenges!

1st place: Brute Boneguard
2nd place: Spellweaver
3rd place: Cragheart
4th place: Mindthief
5th place: Tinkerer

As Brute has the most kills, their skin will be unlocked soon in an upcoming patch release. But because we know you want to see exactly what that skin looks like, let's show off this awesome picture!



We'll see you soon for another Community Challenge to be able to unlock the next skin in line, for Spellweaver!

"Hear ye, hear ye!" shouts the town crier in the square outside The Sleeping Lion. "We are seeking all those willing to go down in the annals of Gloomhaven's history and become a part of this world forever!" You leave the tavern, with your curiosity piqued—interested in whatever offer it is the town crier is making.

"If you can place two words on paper, or have a penchant for writing, then tell us your tales about your encounters while on the roads of Gloomhaven. Tell us your story and we will add three of Gloomhaven's favorites to our history, forever!" You raise an eyebrow, keen to know of the fame that comes with your name and writings forever being a part of this world you have lived in. You grab a parchment, and begin telling your most vibrant stories!



Hello Mercenaries!

As you heard above, we are looking for anyone capable of writing to enter a Road Event Writing Contest we will be running from February 11 to 18. Ready your keyboard, pens or whatever writing tool you prefer, because the top 3 entries will be integrated into Gloomhaven!

•       Entries can be submitted from February 11 - 18

•       The community will vote on their top 10 favorites from February 18 - 23. The top 10 entries will receive a free copy of Gloomhaven
•       The top three road events from the above 10 will be chosen by Asmodee Digital and Flaming Fowl Studios. These three will be integrated into the game in a later patch!
•       Whenever the player is faced with a decision in a road event, there must be between 2 to 4 choices made available
•       Each description for a phase of the road event’s story will be a maximum of 250 words
•       Each choice cannot be more than 30 words long
•       Your Road Event must be themed within the world of Gloomhaven
•       Any writings, rewards or creations can be modified by the organizing company to better fit the world and ensure game balance and enjoyment



So, if you've ever wanted to go down in the annals of Gloomhaven, then be sure to get writing!

It is a minor update which preceded the arrival of some very important content that we will be happy to reveal in the coming months.

Among other things, such as the addition of the new Spellweaver Archivist skin, we’ve added several new cards and features:

•   Codename Triangles new card:
      o   Vengeance (Elementalist)
•   Other new cards:
      o   Frozen Mind (Mindthief)
      o   Phantasmal Killer (Mindthief)


UPDATES:

•   Added - Customs levels can now be uploaded and downloaded as mods from Steam Workshop, make your own or try them out !
•   Added - New Crystal Archivist Spellweaver Skin !

In addition to this we also wanted to state that Asmodee Digital and Flaming Fowl Studios are being impacted by the current health crisis, just like many others. We want you to know that everyone is safe and currently working from home to stay that way. This however does mean that we are delayed in our ability to both deploy and develop new patches and content. We are doing our best to ensure that we are updating the game as often as possible and do apologise if updates are coming in slower than previously. We are also working on some major changes and updates which we will be talking about in more detail in the coming weeks and months.

Arching an eyebrow at the stranger, you grab the paper to discover its contents while the mysterious messenger finishes his glass suddenly and turns on his heels towards the exit.

Greeting mercenaries!

As some of you have guessed, we have been working hard lately on a whole new way of adventuring throughout Gloomhaven. Since the release of the early access we have gathered very valuable feedback and requests from your reviews and comments.

We are delighted to present to you, Gloomhaven Guildmaster: a new game mode coming in the early access. It is the largest update so far bringing highly requested changes and new content. Its objective is to both deliver the most gripping & enjoyable early access Gloomhaven experience AND to make a huge step in the direction of the board game campaign implementation.

Here are few of many changes planned for the Guildmaster update coming on the 25th June:

1.   Manage freely your roster of mercenaries at any point of your adventure.
2.   Revamped the out-of-dungeon experience with new missions/objectives/stories.
3.   Reworked the tutorial and introduction to gameplay mechanics.
4.   Cave biome and its monsters added
5.   Co-op multiplayer in beta



 
GATHER YOUR MERCENARIES AND BECOME A GUILDMASTER
As a Guildmaster, you will take control of a Guild of Mercenaries who see an opportunity to make a lot of money by reopening trade routes across the town while everyone else is too afraid to do it.
Thanks to the feedback given by our players, we understand that you wanted to be able to actively change your mercenary roster whenever you unlocked a new slot in your roster or when we added new mercenary.

In the Guildmaster game mode, you will be able to form your own company, modify freely your roster, and try out the best team synergies.

We also understand that from your comments that the game was lacking objectives and goals as you play. In this update, you will take on over 90 challenging new missions to liberate areas of the map, uncover mercenaries’ stories, unlock powerful items, or simply earn extra gold pieces as hired blades. New characters will follow the company in their journey and give out missions and rewards. Finally, we received reviews from new players regarding our learning curve and the gap between our tutorial and the in-game experience.

This is why in the Guildmaster update also brings a reworked tutorial and a well-paced introduction so that newcomers and Gloomhaven experts alike will be able to discover and rediscover the core gameplay mechanics of Gloomhaven, as well as some of the advance mechanics brought by each mercenary.

A lot of the hidden gameplay mechanics and programming code implemented in this upcoming update brings us closer to the full launch of the board game campaign that includes, but is not limited to:

•   Multiplayer co-op mode in beta
•   Narration in and out of dungeons
•   Possibility to change rosters
•   Multiple new dungeon modifiers and objectives
•   The addition of the Temple
•   New monsters

These are just a few examples of features and mechanics that are necessary to achieve one objective: deliver the greatest Gloomhaven digital adaptation with all the original board game content and campaign.


Please note that the guildmaster mode will replace the current adventure mode, therefore your progress will be lost. This is due to the way that the two modes work differently and how progress is measured, unfortunately progression cannot be translated between the two.

NEW BIOME: VENTURE OUT IN THE DARK CAVERNS… !

A brand new environment has been discovered!

Prepare to discover the cave biome and its formidable enemies. If fighting a bear is part of your daily activities, beware of the imposing stone golem! Also try not to disturb the sleep of the drakes or vipers. That said, their scales must be worth their weight in gold…

CO-OP MULTIPLAYER: CLOSED BETA LAUNCH ON THE 25th JUNE!

Also we’re not forgetting the multiplayer co-op mode, which is on the top of our priority list. We know you’re very impatient to try it and so are we!

We’re very pleased to announce that co-op multiplayer will be available in closed beta for a short period on the 25th and will later be released into open beta.
We've taken the decision to launch it first in closed beta in order to make sure it is stable enough before officially creating a beta branch, where everyone will be able to give it a try.
If you wish to join the multiplayer co-op closed-beta on the 25th June, you'll have to join our official Discord, where there will be a channel dedicated to this specific closed-beta.

WHAT’S NEXT?

This is the largest update so far in the early access bringing both new content and community requested changes and improvements. We’re getting closer to the campaign thanks to these reworks and massive changes. As some of you requested, we have updated the roadmap in order to give you an overview of future updates and content to come. The journey is still on! We still plan to launch the multiplayer mode in Q3, alongside The City update. So stay tuned for more details on that in the future!
