From AAR screenshots from yesterdays training mission
« on: July 17, 2015, 12:25:44 PM »
So yeah. Start of the mission was catastrophe. It went all wrong. We lost all other units from mixed leo / cv90 platoon, either destroyed or seriously damaged, except for one just cv9030 and infantry it carries and what was saved from another CV. And at that point we had multiple enemy TANK contacts. in good hull-down positions waiting for us. We were screwed right? Any other reasonable person would have turned and ran away while they still could. But not me, Colebrook and Gunslinger. It was training mission after all and we like challenges.

So... given our situation. What was pretty desperate as you can probably see. Enemy tanks was located between P23 and P24, with strength of at least 1 seen there, but by voice we suspected multiple contacts. Perhaps section or even platoon.  Our 4/1-A  was not operation at the time being anymore since it had serious transmission damage.

Our infantry squad how ever had good line of sight to enemy tank and so we managed to creep our cv9030 closer it (avoiding time wasting by walking infantry there.) But the open question remained... how could we kill this one? Could infantry take it out?

We moved our Cv9030 closer to enemy, to have visual to it.

Moment later Gunner spotted enemy tank, and there was no time wasted as cv90 was able to see enemy's weak side.

Too bad that these shot were not enough to knock it out.

And remained almost unharmed to our eyes. (In truth gunner was knocked out and some other internal damage, but not enough to kill it.)

Fortunately we had been lucky, not to be seen... and to be able to withdraw before enemy was able to open fire at us.

It was time for reloading armor piercing rounds, and to let infantry out to have fresh air and to do their work.

Infantry started their advance towards north, flanking enemy from the cover of woods, heading towards hill top. Here is shot from infantry and tank can be seen at the edge of fores and field slightly to right from center of picture. Fortunately our infantry was equipped with stops, thought there was problem. Those could not be fired from dense forest. So they would have to get to open, closer to tank!

Our CV9030 proceeded to have contact with enemy, to keeps it's attention away from infantry.

They did it by shooting enemy tank commanders hatch with coax. From safe position.

Such beautiful beast it is. Isn't it?

As infantry finally got closer, they got visual to another enemy tank over-watching another! And that opened fire at them.

Fast reaction, retreat and CV90s coming to help by keeping closest enemy focus on it saved situation from turning to be chaos. And in less than 20 seconds Nlaw missile hit closest enemy tank killing it.

This is situation at the time. Notice there is another known enemy tank between points 23 and 24

First tank destroyed, squad returned to CV to get another storm missile, and machine gun team was send to north to scout as there was heard vehicle noise.

Few moment's later became apparent that remaining known enemy tank was not aware of cv9030:s location.

Such precious situation was not left unused!

And score! on third hit!

However as infantry advanced. It became clear that situation was still not over.

Enemy indeed had nasty surprises waiting that we were not aware of!

Just moment's later as infantry was near to engage enemy tank it spotted them. Situation turned upside down, hunter became hunted.

Overwatching cv9030 however made difference! With its first shots to enemy's exposed side armor another kill!

And few seconds later BMP-2, that was hidden from the CV90 had same fate as it was finished by another N-law missile.

It was time to move back to IFV to supply troops. And just in time as artillery started to fall into location where they had been just moment ago.

Approximately minute later CV90 spotted enemy Bmp-2 trough the dense woods with it optics and engaged destroying it.

Impressive shooting indeed.

However noise of enemy vehicles got more and more loud. We knew that there was tanks coming towards us, and cv90 had spotted enemy pc... but how many there could possible be... wasn't this over already? We had no idea...    ouch.

As tanks became to be seen between trees approaching with loud engines grumbling. Infantry seek out hiding places to observe and to wait. CV9030, stayed on behind... and as first tank came to its sight, shooting started.

And yet third tank kill for cv90 from flank!

However two more was alive and there was no good position to shoot them with missiles...

Even worse, cv90 was spotted by enemy tanks that started to approach it.

At the point being, it was impossible to engage it from front.

Even infantry was in troubles.

It was time to retreat and to break contact!

Had we given up. NO!

We still could kill this tank section! It was not time to fall back and give up. So the one squad took it cautious approach and made more distant flanking movement this time. While MG team watched enemy from inside building and remaining squad covered cv90 from hidden position.

As infantry was near good location CV moved closer, taking enemy tanks attention to itself.

While brave squad took their change, armed N-law missile and fired it. - scoring a kill.

However something went horribly wrong at this point. Firing a missile revealed them to over-watching enemy units. There on far distance was a section of Bmp-2s, that brutally filled this brave squad with shrapnel, leaving no one alive.

Overwatching CV90 heard help calls and pain of troops and moved to top of the hill to engage enemy units at the other side. Firing many sabot rounds to those enemy PC:s those location was now revealed by blood spilling to ground of brave soldiers. It was nearly blind shooting at hot spots, seen trought the trees, but the cv90 indeed managed to critically damage one and to kill another of enemy pc:s alive there.

Meanwhile, tank that was alive had its focus on the mad firing of cv90s direction.

However, remaining N-law team had made it's way close enemy tank, to a small opening and opened fire just in time killing last remaining enemy tank.

As this was done, there was no more enemy contacts at time being. So troops withdraw to take ride in their vehicle and to resupply ammunition. Later going to finish badly damage enemy PC:s that had cause yet largest losses to remaining friendlies at the end.

- ---------------

Not bad for one CV-9030 and three squads of infantry (2 - N-law, 1 - MG).
6 tank kills :3  Three to CV-9030 and three to missiles.
