Finally won a battle!
« on: February 17, 2019, 07:28:23 AM »
First thanks to Asid for providing the DoW toolbar.  Very nice and it is easier to become proficient than the Expanded  Toolbar - Grog, at least for me.  I have been trying to dedicate some time to this game but that is sporadic at best.  I have been playing smaller Brigade scenarios and not doing very well at them.  Most of the Brigade scenarios seem very difficult to win, so I moved up to a Division vs. Division in sandbox and was able to win.  I *mostly* used Courier with a couple of excursions to TC, but not HITS (yet).  I played Prussians vs French and had a decisive victory.  Nice.

I played on the Pond map (I believe that is what it is called) and when I ordered troops to the other side or the AI put some of their units in the area of the pond, the units actually went through/into it.  This seems a fail to me, they should not be able to go into the pond which shows their heads under water or have half the unit deployed out into the water?  Is this a fairly known issue?

Thx.

Hi Hammer. Congratulations for your first win!

About the Pond issues, are you referring to Quatre Bras map?

Here there's a solution for the problem.

Biondo, where is "here"?

@ Hammer:

Basically I am not so happy with playing most of the scenarios. IMO the most questionable thing is the time limit. At least in linear napolenonic battles its much about peeling the enemy's stamina and moral which usually needs time. In scenarios you often have to attack postitions, even fortifications sometimes and thats always time-consuming.

In our battles we actually dont experience such issues. Mostly there are only creeks to consider when deploying formations. As far as I can remember, there are smaller ponds on the maps "The Hills" or like Biondo said "Quatre Bras" and a bigger one on "Meckels". On the customized maps of the mod there arent any, I guess.

Did you already check out the tutorials here:
http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,5718.0.html  ?

The vanilla toolbar might be used there, but the AI and game mechanics are basically relevant.

Not only in QB map.Troops in this game can dive into all the pond.

As far as I know there is another map that also has this problem.Die Huegel i think. ;)

You might take notice of my former posting:

Thank you all.

I *think* it was the QB map, I will see if I can replicate to confirm.

Does the DOW toolbar mod add that fix to the QB map perhaps?

I will review those Tutorial videos as I get a chance, thanks for the tip.

That is also one thing I do not like about the game is the scenario/battle time limit.
