I'll take a M3 platoon/section.  :)

Im interested of manning M981 FISTV and / or Eagle IVs ^^

I recently did some training for Artillery and now know how to quickly call artillery if emergency.  :3  even in 40 seconds from call if necessary.

And I'm familiar with Lemur RWS. as well so it would be interesting to make good use of those in recon kind of missions.

Not sure how the m981 will be employed, but the eagles could be put to good use.

They are in there to make it more realistic, as a unit like this would have one. How it gets used would be determined by the CO. Would be better used in the defense.

Here is a few shots from our scouts, and some tank support from the mission.

The more I scout, the more interested of it I get.

Its in the heart of action.

It feels very important, even when actual firefights hardly exist.

But in turn there is that constant thrill of finding enemy from behind corner, just before that mad escape and desperate survival attempt.

It is something where it literally feels that small can play big role.

- - -

It seems that to be good scout...  one has to be very aggressive. To move well ahead of friendly forces but not too far.

I guess it is like a line drawn into water.

If not being aggressive own forces gain hardly any benefit, and force movement can become very slow.

Since... scouting in the heart is slow and very cautious.

Even on this mission. Own tanks sometimes run ahead of scouts. Hence i find it necessity to be aggressive and to push well ahead of friendly force.

Thought... not too far. Something from 1km - 5km kilometers would probably work best. Depending of terrain and enemy.

- - -

I find a lot possibilities from scouting. If situation allows it, scouts could have lot of creativity and flexibility to move well a head of friendly forces, to find enemy positions and movement even better than they did on this mission.

Also... I have been thinking that we would need some kind of simple markings that would be easy to understand and easy to create to map. Those simple arrows that Rhyfel and Apocalypse use seem to be using a lot would be really nice, Basically a continuous line with hook end. it is really easy to draw to map. Perhaps thickness of line could describe size of enemy force? and type of line for quality. Normal for heavy armor. - Dotted for infantry or non dangerous units?

perhaps text to describe this could be going for two letter and two numbers. Where first letter would be...  either number of spotted tanks..  or estimated.. such as platoon, section, company? and second letter for type.  T = tanks, P = Pc:s, I=infantry,  O=others  and last two numbers would be mission time first for hour and second for tens of minutes. for example
PP14 = Platoon, PCs, 1 hour 40 minutes
1T03 = 1 tank 0 hours 30 minutes
SI00 = Squad Infantry 0 hours less than 5 minutes of start

Something like this could help marking a lot?

Red color of course for enemy.. and green for minefield... but hmm...  I feel something is missing and I feel that this is far from perfect.

Also.. as much as i like scout vehicles and I like Eagles... those eagles were not  ideal to this kind of terrain. They were bouncing up and down constantly, so much that even when they had stabilized sights, those just could not keep up, and were shaking, not terribly but enough to make screen blurry most of the time. Perhaps, a tracked vehicle could have done better in this terrain.
