In development for P3DV4

12/10/18
"With only a few parts of the Nimitz remaining to be textured, focus has been shifted to the "ambience".

We now have a full lineup of F/A-18C, E, F and EA-18G aircraft to populate the ship. Next in line are the Hawkeye, Greyhound and H-60 to complete the current era of the Nimitz. The ship is now days away from closed beta. While the testers take her on a shakedown cruise, we will continue working on a "light" version of the ship before moving to the Tomcat era.

A lot of work is also going into the effects! The ship will feature accurate night lighting according to the current operational conditions. Catapult steam, improved arrestor cables, rain puddles, wet surfaces and deck crew are also being added or improved by the day.

It is coming closer to you.."

Work In Progress

"We now have two more variants of CVN-68, one as it was in 2010 and one from the early 2000s as it came out of drydock after its mid-life refuelling and upgrade period. The ship model is now completed and we are now going to flesh it out by adding planes, vehicles and more crew around the deck, as well as certain "usable" pieces of equipment.

A test version with some statics was also compiled and so far it seems to be holding up pretty well!

The main focus now is on completing the required tech upgrades which have given us a lot of trouble so far, and roll it out with the Phantom patch and Nimitz."

Approaching the Nimitz in its early 2000s configuration. A brand-new IFLOLS model can be clearly seen as well!

The superstructure of the 2010 iteration of the Nimitz. The stencils still need to be moved around.

A test of the Nimitz with a few aircraft on board. Eight Hornets, a Greyhound and a Hawkeye can be seen on the deck, with the FSXBA Hornet ready for launch on Cat #2.

Update from the devs
23/12/18

Regarding our developements, a lot of work has been put into the final F-4 update which will come with a few extra features as a bonus. The F-4 will feature a brand new and much better autopilot. Other than overhauling and improving the current Altitude/Attitude hold modes, the F-4N will now feature an ACLS!

ACLS stands for Automatic Carrier Landing System and allowed the carrier to take over the aircraft controls and guide it to a safe hands-off landing even in zero visibility conditions! A demo video of the technology, developed earlier this year can be seen in this video:

The new update will also introduce physics-based deck motion and many improvements and fixes to our carrier tech en route to the Nimitz, which is waiting in the docks.
