If you have read the text on the product page then that is what it is like...They have put in a lot of effort. It has an external FDE which "feels" different. I like it  :thumbsup

My F100D will still get many, many flights  :winner

The original supersonic trainer. Now with added glass

"Do you know what every USAF fighter pilot minted in the last five decades has in common?
They are all T-38 Talon pilots."

-Tyler Rogoway, The Warzone

All aircraft functions and flight behaviour have been fully tested by serving US Air Force T-38C instructor pilots

The Talon has been the mainstay of all USAF flight training for over 50 years. During this time it has proven itself reliable and economical, without sacrificing the versatility and performance necessary to prepare pilots for a wide variety of tasks. Whether you're driving a Viper, a Bone, a Warthog or a Raptor, you trained in a Talon.

The excellence of the T-38C concept was confirmed in 2002 when the Air Force decided to upgrade its Talon fleet rather than commission a brand new aircraft.

Our T-38C incorporates all these upgrades: HUD, GPS, INS (Inertial Navigation System), and TCAS as well as PMP (a propulsion modification to improve low-altitude engine thrust).

As you would expect, our simulation omits none of the sophisticated functions of the glass equipped T-38C.

An Advanced Simulation

We are very proud to announce our advanced version of the T-38C, significantly raising the bar on what’s possible in your simulator. This release represents one of the most accurate and detailed simulations of a military aircraft to exist within the MS Flight Simulator / P3D environment. We believe our new T-38C will bring an in-depth yet enjoyable training experience to your desktop.

Utilizing every resource available to us and spending countless hours in design, testing, revising, and more testing again, we're confident that our model represents an extremely true-to-life rendition of the real world aircraft. We've taken great care in presenting an authentic environment for the virtual pilot; closely reproducing the original in looks, systems, sounds and flight modelling.

We've strived to perfect the feel of actually sitting in the pilot/instructor seat, being able to scan your vital instrumentation with a glance, all replicated with high resolution textures and smooth 3D animation. Being able to run through checklists, flipping all of the needed switches and toggles, monitoring systems as they spring to life. Being able to light the engines and feel the rumble of the massive turbojets behind you. Every bit of it, in your control and command!

Fully Tested

All aircraft functions and flight behaviour have been fully tested by serving US Air Force T-38C instructor pilots

Stability and control derivatives are based of available wind tunnel and flight test data, translating into realistic aircraft behaviour in all possible flight conditions. A highly accurate, dynamically computed drag model exists for all aircraft configurations, including pylons, racks and stores.

True Physics Engine

Designed by an aerospace engineer with extensive experience in the simulation world and collaboration in other famed titles, the new T-38C features a 100% custom physics and flight dynamics engine (FDE). Aside from bringing in a new level of accuracy in terms of flight dynamics modeling, it lacks the traditional and well-known MSFS / P3D FDE limitations.

The aerodynamic model for our T-38 is based on Northrop and NASA data. It includes wind tunnel and flight test data, in addition to other technical sources. The final flight model has been corrected and validated by a real T-38C instructor pilots. The engine dynamics and performance characteristics of the twin J-85 engines are accurately represented, as well custom ground dynamics and structural modeling are included.

As a result of the accurately modeled physics, our T-38C matches the figures available for the real aircraft in terms of flight envelope, fuel consumption (range/endurance) and energy manoeuvre diagrams.

The Advanced Series T-38C Talon module includes an external physics engine that is independent of the simulator. This allows the representation of highly accurate aircraft characteristics without the traditional limitations imposed by the default simulator physics engine.

Custom Flight Control System

The flight control system for our T-38C is also custom created to match the real aircraft beyond what was previously capable. It includes a ‘Flap-Slab’ System (flap-horizontal tail interconnect), a simulated control stick bob weight, realistic Flight Control System limitations depending on aircraft configuration, realistic control surface response curves, and modeling of the hydraulic and electric control surface actuators.

Other custom systems include a realistically modeled nose wheel system that accurately represents the T-38’s characteristics and limitations, and Flight Control and Utility Hydraulic Systems realistically implemented including separated sub-system feed lines

Precision Glass Emulation

Each element of the avionics upgrade functions precisely like its real-world counterpart. HUD, EED, MFD and UFCP allow you to enter and view data just like the real thing: ILS, TACAN, PPA and DTS are all simulated and functional, (including INS drift errors when not updated by the EGI)

Weapons Training

Weapons delivery systems such as, A/A guns, A/A missiles, A/G bombs, and including Firing Evaluation Display System (FEDS), Continuously Calculated Release Point (CCRP) & Continuously Computed Impact Point (CCIP) bombing, No Drop Bomb Scoring (NDBS), Lead Computing Optical Sight (LCOS), and Enhanced Envelope Gun Sight and (EEGS ) are all included ( VRS Tacpack required)

Separate TacPack software required for full weapons functionality; TacPack software not included.

Scalable Realism & Difficulty

Although we are proud of what has been accomplished with the T-38C Talon in terms of systems depth and flight modeling, we completely understand that on occasion you might not want all of that responsibility. After all, even students need a break now and then!

To that end, the realism of the included systems along with their associated limitations can be scaled from a 100% realistic experience with full system management under pilot control, all the way over to a easy / fail-free mode.

Failure and Damage Modeling

A completely custom and very in-depth failure system has been created for the T-38C. The failures model affects a wide ranging array of systems, including the airframe, engines, landing gear, hydraulics, flight controls, and the Stability Augmentation System. Forced or random failures are possible, with random failure probabilities adjustable to realistic values based on actual T-38 fleet maintenance data.

Damage is also possible due to exceeding real aircraft operating limitations. Icing is another source of possible damage, with possible engine damage occurring from flight into known icing conditions without anti-ice systems active, causing ice accrued on the engine intakes detaching and being ingested by the compressor. Ice may also accrue on the airframe, causing a degradation of handling qualities and performance. Last but not least, possible bird strikes may occur based on real data for military aircraft, with damage severity and systems affected based on a probabilistic system.

Instructor Mode

With maximum realism set and systems management under pilot control, there's no way around it: the Advanced Series T-38C Talon is a very complex aircraft. Given all of this complexity, an "Instructor Mode" has been included. It can be selected to assist at any phase of flight operations, from engines start, to engines shut-down.

In this mode, everything from configuration changes and mis-operation warnings, right down to flying hints will be displayed just as if you had a real T-38C Talon instructor sitting in your rear seat. Highly recommended during the familiarization period, this mode will help ease the learning curve typically associated with complex jets.

MVAMS Integration

Our MVAMS utility runs outside the simulator providing the means to incrementally update individual products to quickly address issues and make fixes when required, without having to have our customers download and reinstall new versions of the aircraft. This allows our customers to quickly discover and install any pending updates for their aircraft, ensuring that they are completely up-to-date with our latest fixes, changes, or technology.

About weapons

From the dev:

"No weapons will leave the aircraft, or have any effect on targets. We are still working on tutorials for this system. But I will give a quick crash course here on ops for it.

A-A:

There are 2 gunsight options. LCOS and FNNL. LCOS is basically a fixed size reticule calibrated to a range of 2500 ft. It behaves much like the gyro gunsights of earlier era aircraft, meaning you have to match the manoeuvers of your target to get an accurate shot. The FNNL option is the more modern gun funnel. Target wingspan in feet can be set from the HUD page (where LCOS/FNNL modes can also be selected) on the UFC. The FNNL mode also displays simulated bullets flying out when you pull the TACPACK trigger.

There is also a simulated IR missile seeker circle on the HUD, which can be caged or uncaged (size changes) using the NWS button which is assigned in the MVAMS. Pressing the TACPACK pickle button will make the circle flash briefly, and the missile count (4 max) will decrease by 1. It will disappear when out of missiles. Both missile and gun ammo can be reloaded by cycling the master arm switch, or pressing the relevant MFD button on the MFD WPN page.

A-G:

Weapon profiles for release mode (CCIP/CCRP/MAN), type, reticle depression (MAN only), can be set up in the MVAMS as well as modified from the WPN page on the MFD. There are also some other parameters like dive angle, airspeed, release and break-X altitude etc that are used for reference on the No Drop Bomb Scoring system (NDBS), so you can see the difference between actual profile flown vs required profile.

A designated target (DEST point) is required for scoring purposes. It can be redesignated (target altitude must be predefined to match actual target since the T-38C has no radar or laser ranging abilities) by pressing the NWS button in A-G master mode. The CCIP designator will appear on the HUD (fall line with a diamond instead of a round reticle), and when the diamond is placed on the visual target, the NWS button must be pressed again. The MRK page on the UFC will appear with the new target coordinates, and the MRK button must be pressed to accept them, after which the target designation diamond will shift from the original location to the new target.

Simply press and hold the TACPACK defined pickle button to simulate a weapon release (you will hear a tone on release). After 20 seconds or so the NDBS score page will appear on the MFD showing actual impact (and in the case of delayed CCIP release, aim point) relative to the target. "

I really want to buy this plane , it looks amazing but I'm skint atm . I'm hoping they might do an F-5 variant from it .

What I'm really excited about is the F-105 Thunderchief , but I might be waiting a while for that one . Hopefully they finish the Blackbird soon as I think that team is then heading to the Thunderchief , fingers crossed .
