further on that one what happens is the throttle or your rudder pedals default as an input device and thats why you have to go via the above information.
for me it was my throttle as SB Pro is seen as an older software via win 10
I have Windows 10 Home
Edit: Here is what I did do...Settings > Devices > under "related settings" on the right side of window clicked on "Devices and printers" > right clicked my joystick and then clicked the "Advanced" button and selected the joystick as the "select the device you want to use with older programs." then clicked "OK", and then "OK" again.
Open up SB Pro 4.023 and select controls and, for example, click on LASE then "Select hot key" flashes in read. I have to press the left control key to make the flashing red letters go away. Selecting the joystick button I want to use for lasing does nothing, red letters keep flashing.
I have dozens of games for which the joystick (stick, throttle, and pedals) work perfectly well with or do not interfere with--EXCEPT SteelBeasts Pro. I don't dare post on their forum as I'm sure they'll tell me it is my fault and not their antiquated discombobulated 1980s software.
Game is deleted from my system. Can't be bothered with fitting a square peg into a round hole...
