It took a long time for our ancestors to develop because they had no duct tape. You have it and you know how to use it. With this magical artifact, you can create a vast variety of useless objects and throw them out the airlock! There are also many useful items to be created, but be careful as this may result in completing the game.

Fix and Decorate



When all the people around you just hover around in the vacuum doing nothing but playing dead, various tools and gears will help you become the worst noisy neighbor ever. Create a unique space station, provide it with oxygen and electricity, install all kinds of equipment from solar panels to hamster farm, and turn it into a real bachelor pad by stuffing it with furniture mixed with all kind of junk.

Yes, you heard that right, itís your own private car horn! Besides that, you can assemble a small rocket, ride the dead or build a large space shuttle. Transportation helps you move faster, evade obstacles and see the death screen after a head-on collision.

Surviving in space is fun, and surviving with a story is even more fun because you can just skip it all to annoy the scriptwriters! Breathedge offers you an intriguing plot with lots of dark jokes, cynical dialogues, an immortal chicken, a mad enemy, as well as badly animated cutscenes and other features of an excellent game.

The game launch has finally happened. Weíve received a huge number of reviews, suggestions and even a juicy slap of criticism in the face, which is also very good. Thank you all, the space will not forget you!


After the Early Access release of the game, we were asked a lot of questions about the length of the game. Aside from that, there were many positive (and some negative) reviews like these ones: "Everything is fine, but it's a pity that the game is too short." Is that all there is to it? What happened to the Man and to Grandpa? And where is the crowbar?


The answers are: nope, thereís much more! The Man is safe and sound, if you did not kill him, of course. Grandpa is hanging out somewhere, and the crowbar will appear in the second chapter.


Thatís right, in the second chapter! The game is in Early Access and has only one story chapter for the moment, designed for 3-6 hours of gameplay, but this is not the end. We plan to make 5 story chapters that will reveal all the twists and turns of the plot, will acquaint the player with all the participants of this totally truthful story and at the same time will be one whole game.


The chapters will appear in the form of major client updates and will require from the player nothing more than additional hard disk space. No additional payments, episodic system, paid DLCs and Christmas hats for 20 bucks each. Also, the story will continue and should not break your current saves (although anything can happen).


Tentatively, the release of the second chapter is scheduled for the end of this year. With it, you can expect a serious expansion of the world, the first personal transportation vehicle, burning swollen dead bodies in the region of the hip bone, enemies, a lot of mayonnaise, more new tools, junk, and adventures.


The first update is planned to be launched in a week. It will fix most of the current flaws, as well as add support for all major types of gamepads. This update is already added to the test branch of the game and anyone whoís interested can try out new bugs if they find them, of course. (To access the test version: click RMB on the game on Steam -> Properties -> Betas -> test -, and wait for the update.)

Today is Wednesday, so what does it mean? Right, absolutely nothing. Therefore, we can allow ourselves to share some news from the development front with you.

One fine warm autumn morning, we sat together with our red eyes bulging and were dreaming about beautiful things. The beautiful things refused to appear in our heads at all though, but the thoughts about the frailty and brevity of life were swarming. The same frailty with brevity was clearly present in the game, and if you canít argue with the first thing ó itís space ó then itís not a sin to fight the second one. Thus, we came to a simple and understandable idea ó we need more, MOAR! More locations, more opportunities, more freedom, more objects, and more jokes. All of what you asked for and what you subtly hinted at by the words ďToo short!Ē As you have probably already guessed it, it brings us to one ďtheĒ ó the station.

Yes, Yes, Yes. Somewhere, someone confidently said that the construction of the station would happen sometime maybe, but we decided otherwise. Now we are actively refining the mechanics of a full-fledged construction of your own space station with the ability to disassemble the entrance gateway from the inside, thereby immuring ourselves in a beautiful room without food and water. This wonderful opportunity will appear in the second chapter of the game, and weíll even share a boring video with you about the construction thing:



Have you watched the whole video? We also havenít, so, those who are the most patient, please, let us know in the comments, how did it end? In fact, in the beginning, the base construction will include more than forty different blocks, each of which gives its own advantages, disadvantages, or nothing at all (this may happen).





And of course, dťcor wonít be excluded. About 40 decor elements (we love this number) are also planned to be in the second chapter, it may bring practical use, as well as remain useless and prevent us from passing.

Also, all the useless trash that you have already found in the first chapter, will appear in more quantities as decor in the second one. Now, instead of throwing an empty beer can into the airlock, you can gently put on the floor, claiming to have design talent.



So, whatís up with humor? As it was not present in the first chapter, you wonít find any of it in the second one. We are all dead serious here. The second chapter of the game will last much longer than the first one. It will reveal some important secrets and allow you to torture the Man more often and more effectively. Now we are actively working on the story details, jokes (intellectual ones, of course), monologues and other text parts of the game. Below we share a unique photo, where our talented screenwriter is cooking pies right at the workplace, and you can see some developments along the storyline.



The subject of loneliness in the game is given special attention, and if more precisely ó none. That is why, and also because of your suggestions and wishes, we are introducing life into space. Of course, these are not green men or xenomorphs, who were meanly invented long before Breathedge, but highly intelligent robots. The cleaning robots are the first you will meet. Valuable loot, zero aggression, and useless work will be their hallmarks. The basic behavior and general mechanics are ready and tested on headless hens, the robots themselves will be created a bit later.



Have we already mentioned that the game world will become bigger in the second chapter? Probably we were wrong because itís going to be MUCH bigger. In space, there will be more debris with oxygen or other ways to use it, more loot, the generation of some goodies, lots of points of interest and even more freedom. Moreover, in order to speed up the flight from point A to another point A, the first personal transport will be present in the second chapter of the game. Of course, youíll have to find and assemble it first, no oneís going to give it away to you just like that. This wonder will be assembled from the magnificent vacuum cleaner named ďRocketĒ ó supplemented, improved, and able to suck not only dust but also compressed gas from its own belly.



ďWe want more!Ē they shouted. Well, here's another screenshot of some new objects. Hereís something you can use for shooting, repairing, blowing up, analyzing, breathing, accelerating, and even scraping chewing gum from the walls of your station. In other words, there will be more useful trash in the game.



Also, youíve probably already heard about them, but in the second part, they will appear on a par with the corpses of passengers: a cow and a hamster in spacesuits. They can be dragged by the leg as well and stacked in piles on your living space. Thereís even some practical use from them, but we wonít reveal that (not because we havenít came up with it yet).



And one more important thing. We would very much like to release the second chapter by New Year, so that it can be put under the Christmas tree and frighten Santa Claus. However, due to the increasing amount of work, we cannot be sure of the exact release date. First of all, quality is important to us, not quantity. As much as weíd really like to release a raw, buggy and non-working version, we will not do this by virtue of habit and out of respect for you, our dear players. So it goes.

When is the New Update Coming?
The release of the two new chapters of Breathedge will be on September 5.

This information was for the League of Lazyheads so that they wouldnít make an effort to look for the most important information in the long scroll of the text below. For all the rest of you: welcome to the world of letters!

First of all, a few words about the date of the release. Is it an exact one? Yes. There might be some exceptions, though. We might of course say that September 5 happens in November, but this would require a very good explanation. On the other hand, the release of the chapters may take place a week earlier or later, depending on the schedule of major releases of our rivalsí games, the sales of which we nobly do not want to ruin with our masterpiece. But in general, the date is final and not subject to major changes.

Secondly, we would like to warn you that below we are going to tell you in detail and show you what kind of work has been done during all this time, and therefore, some spoilers and various other indecent things might pop up, so please move away from your screen if you think your feelings might get hurt.



As we mentioned earlier, we chose the path of making updates in the form of large, complete episodes, rather than small frequent updates. This has its advantages, but there are also disadvantages (most of which you can read in the negative reviews about the project on Steam). In any case, things are as they are, and in September two large chapters will appear, inextricably linked to each other so that it would be blasphemy to separate them.

Before starting a boring listing of all the innovations, we would like to demonstrate the difference in volume between the first chapter and the two new ones. We will resort to comparison further on, but for now, we will show just the general chart.



We are not so good at making charts, but believe us, the difference here is quite impressive.

This means only one thing ó the adventures of the simple Man in space are about to continue. To be more exact, two new chapters of Breathedge will be released on September 3, 2019, at 10:00 AM PT.

Weíd like to remind you that itís a free update that will ruin neither your saves nor your nervous system and mind. Well, we are not exactly sure about your nerves though, or your mind and saves.

The upcoming chapters consist not only of space expanded with more debris, but also of the continuation of the story, vehicles, station building, decor, many new tools, equipment, resources, collectibles, and other different kinds of garbage.

The game will include enemies, that is if you find them. If you donít find them, they will appear anyway, as well as new game modes, many additional settings, minor additions, and features you asked for.



And as we promised, the game will include German, French and Chinese localizations. This is not the complete list of languages that weíd like to see in the release, as we havenít learned any more of them yet.

Comrades! The time has come to dust off your spacesuits, put on your space diapers, and wrap yourself in electrical tape because Breathedge continues!

Everyone was expecting us to shift the release date again and made beautiful posters with obscene slogans. Well, that was in vain. Today, in spite of global warming, two new chapters of the epic saga about the simple Man will be released (or they have been released already if you are reading this piece of news a bit later than it was planned).



Before briefly describing what the new chapters are about, we cannot help but share a unique commercial from the Breathedge Global Funeral Agency, which you can easily see on TV if your calendar shows the year 2073. Letís go!

Comrades! Launching the Man into space went well! However, there were several issues that overshadowed his stay there, but we are working on them.

We fixed one of the serious saving errors when players fervently transferred the save file from the first chapter and received... nothing, or a beautiful window with an error. This happened because they did it manually without an autosave file. There should be no such error now.

The second serious issue is the gameís committing suicide on old PC configurations, despite the fact that the first chapter worked well. We cannot guarantee that the game will work on hardware which is weaker than the minimum requirements, but we try our best for the owners of any configurations. We are now sorting this out and trying to understand what exactly overloads the old hardware, why, and where (if you are one of those lucky people whose game worked in the first chapter and committed suicide in the second one, please contact us via e-mail or discord, if you want to help us test the game).

For sure, you might write angry reviews. But before doing that, if you have any problems with the game, please describe them, and attach some logs/screenshots/videos. You can send us an e-mail or message us via Discord. After that, you can dislike the game, ask Steam for a refund, and try to identify us by our IP address. However, without your description of the problems, we may not find them. Why else do we need early access? Thank you!

Did you miss us? We were busy dealing with the issue of the game not working on some computers and found the answer: the cosmic space expanded and started to use up 4100 Mb of RAM. So it appears that those who have a 4 Gb RAM automatically get an infinite loading screen as a bonus to the game. Those who have more than 4 Gb but less than 7 Gb get their personal black screen because of the RAM being used up by other programs. For example, the system uses 1,5 Gb, 80 browser tabs with embroidery patterns use 2 GB, and then our Man gets launched and uses up 4,1 Gb. So how much does it add up to? Right, 7,6 Gb. The lucky owners of 8 Mb of RAM can play the game, while others getÖ something.

So, how do we solve this issue? The easiest thing would be to ignore the problem due to the small number of players having less than 8 Mb of RAM (there are not more than 15% of them on Steam, and even fewer of them playing Breathedge). But this would be unfair, not interesting, cruel, and well, we love our players and pain as well. Thatís why we will try to optimize the game and reinvent the wheel. In the meantime...

In the meantime, we found a temporary solution for those who have 4-6 GB of RAM (it depends on how much your system is loaded). We made a separate branch of the game. To launch the game, open Steam, find Breathedge in the Library and right-click on it. A menu will open and you should click on Properties, then BETAS, and then choose ďoptimized ĖĒ from the dropdown list. Thatís it! You can download it and try to run the game.

We rewrote the mechanics of loading the level in the above-mentioned version. This wonít work well on powerful hardware and will cause a lot of issues, but it will do for computers with little RAM. This version uses up 2,8 Gb of RAM, so if the system works well, Breathedge should work on computers with 4 Gb of RAM. This version wonít crash your saves and in general, it is a very good one. However, it has one small drawback. When loading the game, the lucky users of 4 Mb of RAM will see empty space during some time (ab. 10-15 sec), and with that, the Man can already fly and collect resources. Donít be scared and donít rush to get stuck in a vanished wall. It should take some time for the world to load.

So thatís the temporary solution for the time being. Weíll try to make it work more elegantly.

Ah, yes. A great thank you to those who help us and who helped us find this issue. We are especially thankful to Саша#1587 who dedicatedly kicked the dead game a lot, helping us subdue its "voraciousness".

Comrades! While we are making the continuation of the game, you keep breaking the stuff that was already made, and thatís cool! In cases when our script writer is frustrated as a vegetable and is communicating with the cosmos (and this happens all the time), the programmer starts picking his nose out of boredom. Such an activity is bad for the shape of his fingers, he still has a lot of code to write, so we try to engage him in doing other things (assembling Rubicís cubes, embroidery, etc.) With your help, itís much easier to make the programmer do something useful, because you find very interesting bugs that we try to fixÖ or try to make you think that this is not a bug, but a feature. We made a small update and hereís the list of some important bugs that we fixed. (Spoiler alert!)

1.   When you were sitting comfortably in a vehicle while installing an oxygen station, a container, or the crap imposed by the developers, they tended to be installed in the point of your sitting in a vehicle (which could happen on the other side of the map). Such magic wonít happen anymore.
2.   When picking up an itemís blueprint that was already researched on the research table, the table got peeved and stopped working. We punished the table and fixed this bug.
3.   When throwing a corpse from a long distance at bare wires in the communication point the quest didnít count as complete. We fixed this.
4.   After passing chapters 2-3, the marker for Normandy shouldnít disappear anymore (although, yeah, thereís no use in it at the moment).
5.   When you decreased the radiation 6 times lower and then immediately saved and loaded the game, you didnít get the task of exploring space. Maybe it was for the better, what is there to explore? But we fixed it anyway.
6.   Your lovingly built space station broke down and holes appeared in it even when you werenít anywhere near it. This is realistic, however, we didnít plan it to be like that, so we fixed it. Now the station breaks down as we intended it to, only when you are near it.
7.   The enemy replaced the pages in the encyclopedia and some categories didnít coincide with the items. You noticed it and we fixed it.
8.   Having magic abilities like David Copperfield you could pass through the closed door of the service module. Unfortunately, you canít do this now.
9.   The information trigger near Knight-Errant created a marker that led nowhere. We fixed this, so now it doesnít do that.
10.   Added the discharge cell description. Although itís quite understandable without a description that a discharge cell is a discharge cell and that it discharges something and you can find it in some place where something discharges. Easy peasy!
11.   Some items in the game cloned themselves and we fixed that. However, if you saved after the cloning happened, the already cloned items will remain, but the new ones wonít appear.
12.   Added a sound effect when you pick up the crap imposed by the developers. We know how ďimportantĒ that is, but you asked us to add it.
13.   If you loaded right after sending cowchickens to space, the control panel stopped working and you couldnít complete the quest with the bio module because of that. We fixed that.
14.   Fixed the bug with disappearing showcases with dead hamsters and built-in containers. This fix works only for saves before you noticed the itemís disappearance. Otherwise, you wonít be able to restore the disappeared item ó space has devoured it.


So it goes. And as always, we are available for your feedback, suggestions, and bugs. You can send them via anything, but itíd be more convenient for all of us if you join our Discord troops. Although, a good olí mail will do as well (if itís not the snail one).

Comrades! We have some rather sad news. As it turned out, penguins donít know how to fly. Yep, we tried everything, to no result. They all fall down. Although you are probably not very interested in the technical details of the development. Oh well, let's move on to the news then.

It just so happened that while we were launching penguins into the stratosphere for very important tasks, some bugs were accidentally fixed, namely:

1.   On low FPS ó which never happens, so as you might have thought, this is purely hypothetical ó so, on hypothetically low FPS, the vacuum cleaner and the car flew slowly. We fixed this, and now their speed doesnít change.
2.   The game had a secret room, where instead of a basilisk there was an oxygen station. And as in any self-respecting secret room, all sorts of items disappeared right in front of your nose. Some (boring people) might say that this is simply an incorrectly configured object clipping distance. But we fixed the bug anyway.
3.   On loading the game, if your vehicle was located in your station, it replenished its fuel reserves and durability. We found the person guilty of this misdeed. It was a mechanic who broke into the station at night and repaired everything with a vile grin on his face. We threw him out of the airlock, so now the vehicle remains broken and not refueled, as it should be.
4.   When getting into the vehicle with a flashlight on, turning it off in the vehicle, and then getting out of the vehicle, the flashlight started burning, forever. We fixed this.
5.   Some attentive players noticed that if you dismantled a table made of ordinary metal, you got refined metal in your inventory. It seems to be logical, but it really isnít. We fixed that.
6.   An even more attentive player (the rest of the players probably knew the issue, but were silent) noticed that when shooting or throwing grenades at a garbage ball during its respawn, the nonexistent ball generated endless amounts of resources. We fixed that for sure.
7.   As it turned out, when installing decor items, the durability of the dispenser didnít change. Everyone thought it was a bonus, but no, we are evil and love senseless craft, so thereís no bonus anymore. The dispenser has become as fragile as our psyche.
8.   The dispenser glitched a bit after using it until its durability decreased to 1. The electrical tape got heated up, its fumes got into your room through your speakers, and after inhaling these poisonous gases it could falsely occur to you that when you use the dispenser, you donít see any modules, or that an installed module hangs in space as a projection of it.
9.   Minor changes in the save/load system were made, otherwise, the game version could be detected wrongly which caused some indecent things to happen. We changed the components of the electrical tape to more ecologically pure ones, so now after continuously using the dispenser, you can feel the magnificent odor of acetone.
10.   We did considerable work to optimize most objects in the game. First of all, some LODs of objects were cut (e.g. if there were five of them, now there are three). Such blasphemous manipulations broke the collisions, so we remade them too. So what is the result, aside from this text? We freed some extra 600MB RAM, and there is no such thing as ďextra MB RAMĒ; the loadings are now faster (well done to those of you who noticed it). Now that we remade the collisions on the station, items thrown in some gap in the floor wonít get stuck in it anymore (well, they still can, if you donít give up).

So it goes. And for sure, we are in full process of creating the next chapter. Donít doubt about it. Although, we wonít tell you about what exactly we are doing now and when it will be available because we are not sure yet.
