How Deadly was the MG42?
Henk Stoffers is key member of our scenario design team. He also happens to be a reservist in the Dutch Army.

As such, he has access to some pretty cool equipment.

Henk recently got the chance to take a vintage MG42 to the range.  While there, Henk took the opportunity to test its qualities to help us get the in-game stats as accurate as possible.

Turns out, the MG42 is pretty darn lethal. It also turns out that Henk is a great shot!

That's all for now.

See you again soon!

Diving Deep into the Psychology of Leadership and War

Hi Again!

We are VERY excited to share today's news.

Huge thanks to Franklin for his amazing support of Burden of Command.

While you're on his channel, please be sure to check out Dr. Annis' other outstanding videos and interviews. He really knows his stuff and is a great guy, too!

As always, we also want to thank all of you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Actor Shane Taylor Is the Voice of Sgt Grant!

We are thrilled to announce that veteran actor, Shane Taylor (who played "Doc" Roe in Band of Brothers), has joined the Burden of Command Team! He is the battlefield voice of Sgt Grant!

Grant will play a prominent role in Burden of Command. He will be your right hand man in the coming campaign.

Listen to Sergeant Grant. Learn from him. Protect him. Lead him.

Here's a sneak peek of Shane as Sgt Grant:

I hope you are as excited about this as we are!

Unit Portraits are Now in Burden of Command

In Burden of Command, you won't simply be moving pieces around a map.
You're going to be leading men...Men with hopes, dreams, and fears...Men who hope to make it home alive.

So we're adding their pictures to the tactical map as reminder.

When you select a unit, now you'll look into the eyes of the men you're about to order into harm's way.

Lead them well, Captain...

Their lives depend on it.

Friendly Fog of War

How Far Can You Push Your Men?

Knowing your men is crucial for any leader. Knowing exactly how far you can push them is much harder.

Burden of Command is modeling this challenge by giving you an estimate of your men's likelihood to follow certain dangerous orders, such as assaulting an enemy position.

You don't have the luxury of exact percentages in war. You only have the look in your men's eyes.  Will they charge with you, or will you advance only to find yourself alone under enemy fire?

You have a gut feeling they will follow, but you can never be sure.

This is the Burden of Command.

Restoring History

Preserving History Through Photo Enhancement
Our newest team member, Eric Benjamin, has taken up the burden of preserving history via the art of digitally enhancing historical images.

Here is some of his work!

As you can see, Eric's work is not limited to World War II.

As you can see, Eric is very talented.

He will be bringing these talents to bear in bringing Burden of Command to life. As you may know, preserving and promoting history is something that is at the top our priority list!

Please join me in welcoming Eric to the team.

Lastly, if you haven't done so, please add us to your wish list!

Remember, every time you wish-list us, a sergeant gets his stripes!

I'll see you all on the high ground,

Rob

Exploring the Enemy & Fog of War

Greetings, Captain.

Last week, we discussed how fog of war can apply to your own units.

This week we look at how it can shroud information about enemy units.

Where is the enemy?

How many of them are there?

What is their morale status?

These are just a few questions you will be faced with in the field.

Prepare yourself, Captain. War is hell.

Saber 6 out.

We Want Your Opinion
Sat, 2 November 2019

How Do You See the Enemy?

War is about a lot of things--politics, ideas, tactics, equipment, and myriad others.

But it is ultimately about people. That's why we are incorporating period photographs as unit portraits in the battlefield interface.

Now, this a fairly straight-forward idea for Allied troops...

But what about the Axis Forces?

How 'personal' should these portraits be?

This is where you come in.

Please watch the video above, then give us your thoughts.

Also, please find us on Twitter @BurdenOfCommand and vote in the official pole!

As always, thank you all for your help and opinions,

Meet Your Men: Lieutenant Thompson

Today, we have goodies and an update from the commanding officer!

What are the goodies?
Wallpapers!
We have posted wallpapers of Lieutenant Thompson in two resolutions (1920x1080 for PC and 320x480 for mobile).
Get them here! https://steamcommunity.com/app/887490/images/?p=1&browsefilter=mostrecent

And now a message from your commanding officer:

Greetings, Captain.

A good leader knows his men.

Here's a summary from the personnel file of one of your platoon leaders. You can see an image of him above. Study both well.

Name: Eddie Thompson
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Age: 22
Home State: Vermont

Lieutenant Thompson is an idealist. Few doubted the evils of war, but the fresh-faced Lt Thompson always sought out the good in men. The American spirit is more than mom and apple pie. Lt. Thompson is proof of that.

In the coming weeks, I'll give you files and photos of more of your men. Get to know them as best you can, Captain.

Their lives are in your hands.

That is all, Captain.
Now see to your men.

Phase 3. Anyone Else with an Interest in Burden of Command. This is our opportunity to gain a wider perspective. People from myriad backgrounds will give us their thoughts and opinions to make the finished product the best it can be.

We hope to have a testing pool made up people of all ages and interests, regardless of historical or military knowledge. We're looking for input from as many perspectives as possible so that this game experience can be accessible and meaningful to everyone from casual gamers to combat veterans.

JOIN UP HERE! https://burdenofcommand.com/contact
