Can you compare and contrast with SOWWL?  Thoughts?  I have semi-followed Histwar on and off for  many years but nothing I saw (or tried demo wise) convinced me to purchase like SOWWL did.

I liaise with the developer of HW on a regular basis. I also have access to none public builds and am not able to discuss details.

However, the demo is from 2014. HW has changed quite a bit since then. 3D models, reworked ai, reworked ballistics model etc. This is a huge undertaking for the developer who is mostly on his own. I have learned to expect release dates to be missed. One day, this will be an exceptional product but I cannot say when that day will be.

Concerning SOW:WL. We have a very stable and playable game. This is in part due to the fact that the developer stopped updating the game a while ago. Any modifications will be released by modders like our intrepid Biondo and Mitra. Does it have short comings? YES. Is it playable? YES and we play it regularly in mp using HITS. I have had many an excellent battle with my fellow DOW Generals. In fact I would say that you will not find a finer group of people to play with.

I am my self pretty sure you all are the folks to play with.  However, I do not even have time for single player to learn the game at any lenght.  My free time is taken up with DCS, and even then I have very little time to train up on the aircraft systems prior to MP with the guys.

HITS would be quite an undertaking for me - I have even lost my familiarity with the game itself and essentially need to start over with learning everything.  However, Napoleonics has a soft spot in my heart as I spent many weekend days playing Naploeonics miniatures with a small wargaming community in my home town.  Remember the Empire rule set?  Or maybe I am much older than you all here!   

I would probably need a much more casual intro to MP with SOW:WL, at least to start with.  One day...

Yes, the game is still alive and kicking. JMM works on it almost daily. I have seen and experienced some of what is to come and it is exciting...I know that it has been a long wait but it will be worth it. I will try to keep you updated.

In HistWar, there are 3 combat formations :
- the line that fights by fire,
-the platoon column that charges and seeks contact,
- the division column, mixing the 2 formations, which charges after firing.

This video shows a combat of this last mode: division column against line.

This patch fixes a crucial problem related to CPU power.
It applies to all versions of HistWar: Napoleon.
A next version is being completed and the first beta tests will start soon
