What's your gaming pleasure this weekend? 15/06/18    :gamer

My RC flying continues   :flyaway :pilotfly

Flight Simulation    More messing with X-Plane 11 and P3D in sunny Scotland. I have a few planes I need to dust off. Flightsim is so immersive. You can get very high fidelity models with very high systems accuracy. However you do not need to fly a "study sim" :pilotfly

Ground Branch:  http://www.groundbranch.com/introduction/

Swat 4 (SEF MOD): Great tactical team game. Been having a great time with Beef and Cougar   :shooting-two-guns

Military Operations Benchmark:

Hopefully (never had chance last week):
Field of Glory II. Age of Belisarius  :notworthy
Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach . I have the game + DLC's. Not had a chance to try them yet.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition   :dwarf

RC helicopter flying:. The 2 helis I have working and plane are running great. I will maybe start to do the long awaited maintenance on one of my larger Nitro helicopter. .  :sifone

What about you? Surely I am not the only one playing?   :Tumbleweed

No other Rortos's flight simulations (keep away from Carrier Landings and AirFighters) except "Extreme Landings".
No other Microsoft App Store Flight Sims ("Airplane Flight Pilot Sim" and "Cargo Plane City Airport").
Many sims will not simulate flight physics anything near to google earth flight simulator and even that's poor enough.

Try the free demo of X-Plane 11. Good physics  :thumbsup

I think I read somewhere that the demo allows 15 minutes flying time and then quits to desktop?

And here we go again:

Or rather here:
Explanation --> Landing approaches using crab or sideslip both have severe disadvantages, so to reduce airplane control input and readjusting we should use the wind to do the side movement, concentrating now only on nose pitch.
ALWAYS stay in the windward/ upwind area towards the runway!(do NOT get blown away!)

main disadvantage "crab": airplane alignment is wrong, towards the wind and not in harmony with the runway
main disadvantages "sideslip": the more intense the wind, the more intense the turn, so the more intense the passengers' feelings and the higher is the stall speed requiring higher landing speed, reducing airplane parts life.

My touchdown still isn't smooth enough...

You can use it as many times as you want in 15 minute intervals.

You can use a console controller or cheap joystick. A stick is the best way to go. It is worth it for the immersion and realism. Using a keyboard and mouse can be done but you will not get a "feel" for the sim.

Depends on what you want Tom? An arcade game or a simulator?

Also wiping around with the mouse will eventually provoke the menu bar to appear. Or I did that wrong. It was very confusing. Yes, I'll need a stick. Licorice or Cherry taste.

I've got an Idea, probably every Flight company already had: seeing Lusik's pic with the smartphone gpsmap-app and rortos's Extreme Landings as androidgame/ with tablet playcapabilities while being in the air/ just before a real landing --> pilots could simulate just minutes before the real action!

Is this already standard?

In Star Trek as well there were holodeck scenes showing simulated tactical/ engineering operations to figure out optimized solutions.

The pilot has their hands full with the approach etc...No chance of messing around.

Pilots do use flight sims to stay current and practice approaches using a flight sim BEFORE taking off.

I'd like to imagine that flying/driving (doing something) is like translating, sometimes you miss just one word you know you should know but can't figure out fast enough, then some online/ on demand help (a dictionary so to say) by a live background running sim might be helpful? (that's highly theoretical, sometimes i get weird ideas, I apologize)

Or something like an autopilot action explanation screen, so you can follow its "thoughts".
