Alpha 38 - Roof modules, narrow Ramp, Sit & Wait on Raft
28 Jun @ 9:47pm - Gamers4Gamers Team

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 38' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding a couple of Roof building modules, a narrow Ramp and a Wind indicator on the Half Pillar. It is now possible to Sit & Wait on Raft modules as well. There are a couple of gameplay and UI improvements and some issues were fixed too.

The new Roof modules complete the already added list of roof modules and allow to build complete buildings now. Narrow Ramps leave more free space around and the Wind indicator on the Half Pillar can get very useful on rafts (as community-requested). The hand-held Wind indicator can be stuck into the ground.

To Sit & Wait is now also possible on Rafts and may shorten long journeys (of course when the wind direction is not changing much :steamhappy: ).

Changelog:

New Features:

01. Added: Roof modules
02. Added: Narrow Ramp
03. Added: Wind indicator on Half Pillar
04. Added: Sit & Wait on Raft modules

06. Added: Outline for Shells
07. Added: Outline Small Items setting to Options/Gameplay screen
08. Added: Displaying HP of objects in focus when available
09. Added: Displaying Spoiling status of meal in focus when available

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Flying When Sit down and Hint comes up and was closed
02. Fixed: Not able to enter Sleep-on-ground when Sitting
03. Fixed: Active Hold key functionality even when it was not needed
04. Fixed: Memory leaks when building preview modules were placed and not finalized yet
04. Fixed: Not closed hands around paddle when exiting Canoe after using Map
05. Fixed: Dropping Paddle from hands when using the Map during Paddling
06. Fixed: Not Hiding Paddle when on Canoe and using Map
07. Fixed: Showing salted status of Salmon in inventory missing
08. Fixed: Showing salted status of dried meal missing
09. Fixed: Incorrect Wind checking for campfire
10. Fixed: Salt destroyed when equipped under 100% roof while raining

During the Summer Holidays we don't plan to add/implement some big features - we will aim to work on expanding and balancing the existing game mechanics. Some of the longer present issues are already in fixing stage. Additional plans also include Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Door, Window, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks ... We will work also on solving new issues and we will re-check some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Do you like our game and want to help even more during development? We look forward to every positive review posted on our Steam page and thank everyone who decides to support us along the way!

Please be aware that during early access phase game code could change as much as affecting gameplay when loading/saving savegames from earlier versions. To always be on the safe side make sure to start a new game with each update. Thank you!

The new Banana Roof modules allow to build complete buildings now also on islands with high Banana trees density. The recently added Palm Roof modules now have slightly updated models.

Alpha 40 - Nests & Eggs 4 Turtles, No-Nest Gull Rocks, Crouching, Paddle Wearing, Achievements
30 Aug @ 10:58pm - Gamers4Gamers Team

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 40' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding the Turtle Nests & Eggs and Crouch features. There is a Wearing out Paddle model and a No-Nest Seagull Rock added too. A new Hint notification system and a basic Achievement system is also introduced. There are some gameplay improvements and a couple of the issues were fixed too.

The Turtle Nests & Eggs feature increases the variety of the daily food gathering routine.

Turtle Eggs are covered in Turtle Nests which can be found shore-side.

To balance the amount of Turtle Eggs they are less nutritious and they are spoiling faster. Another balancing feature is the No-Nest Seagull Rock so not every island provides the possibility to get Seagull Eggs. Later in development the full Turtle life cycle will be introduced.

The Crouching pose is giving the possibility to grab/pick up items from hard-to-reach places and the new Paddle model gives an interesting visual indication of its worn out state.

The Achievement engine now supports only Steam Achievements but the functionality will be expanded to also offer "ingame" achievements which will be erased with each new game started. The actual Achievements list contains some basic survival/craft/hunt achievements only for now, so the list will widely grow as more content is added to the game.

Changelog:

New Features:

01. Added: Turtle Nest
02. Added: Turtle Egg
03. Added: Cook recipes for Turtle Egg
04. Added: No-Nest Seagull Rock
05. Added: Crouching
06. Added: Notification about Hints not stopping game
07. Added: Achievement System

General:

01. Added: Configurable Crouch Key
02. Added: Stick paddle losing sticks from it when used
03. Added: Show Hint about aimed item functionality
04. Added: Shown Hint can be closed with Journal key
05. Added: Load Game screen displays the actual Screenshot from the savegame
06. Changed: Water Collector objects filling up faster when placed under water

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Journal key binding saved incorrectly (messed up the Toolbelt key binding)
02. Fixed: Hint status sometimes saved incorrectly (caused overwriting Hints when new Hints were introduced)
03. Fixed: Coconut Pots clipping into Cooking stones when placed on them

We plan to work some more on the newly introduced Achievement system. The additional plans include also the Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Door, Window, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Game Controller, Tutorial System, Simple Quests ... We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Alpha 41 - Local achievements, Rocky Seagull Islands, Mist during rain
Sat, 21 September 2019

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 41' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding the Local Achievements screen and on introducing some new achievements too. The new Rocky Seagull island is expanding island variety and Mist during rain is a game changer. There are some gameplay improvements and a couple of the issues were fixed too.

The Local Achievements screen does not only offer the possibility to check the progression of Achievements but also resets with each new game started. Here as a player you have the chance to get to experience your favourite goals in different game scenario settings again. For the list of Achievements we have added the new types "Travel" and "Survival". As we make progress also new challenges will be added to this list.

Seagulls have finally gotten their own island type. Hereby we expand the list of island types by adding the type Rocky Seagull Island. On this kind of islands it is easier to steal Seagull eggs and collect feathers, but beware of resident Seagulls home on as much as up to 7 nesting rocks also being able to attack in high numbers!

It could turn out difficult when travelling the sea and during heavy rain or storms mist turns up. Have Compass and map at hand because in such a situation blindly paddling or sailing further can quickly turn out as a bad decision...

Changelog:

New Features:

01. Added: Local Achievements Screen to Journal Page
02. Added: Rocky Seagull Island
03. Added: Mist during Rain

General:

01. Added: Torch reacts to Wind effects
02. Added: New Rock models
03. Added: Notification information in NotifyBar when unlocking Achievements
04. Added: Travel type Achievements: Walk/Run, Swim, Dive, Paddle, Sail
05. Added: Survival type Achievements: Sleep, Triangulation, Craft, Build
06. Added: Some percentage of Turtle Eggs get destroyed when picking up from the Turtle Nests
07. Added: Bottles can now keep fluids fresh and unspoiled for 20% longer
08. Added: Barrels can now keep fluids fresh and unspoiled for 50% longer

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Achievement not unlocking for Igniting Campfire
02. Fixed: Turtle Eggs rolling around freely
03. Fixed: Savegame Screenshots are blurry
04. Fixed: Seagull Eggs and Turtle Eggs were different incorrectly
05. Fixed: Hitting a Seagull with an Axe or Hammer does not kill it
06. Fixed: Killing a Seagull with an Arrow does not trigger Achievements
07. Fixed: Killing a Seagull with an Axe or Hammer does not trigger Achievements
08. Fixed: Items created/gathered on remote islands disappearing after 2x Save/Load
09. Fixed: Hitting Coconut Pot with an Axe does not destroys it
10. Fixed: Canoe and Raft blueprints automatically complete after Save/Load
11. Fixed: Player not getting wet when standing in Light Rain

Besides on working on the below listed features we re-checked global map functionality and will work on re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again. Also we have found a solution for the Dragging system which will be applied and adjusted with future updates. The additional plans include also Fruit ripening, Fruit regrowing, Door, Window, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Game Controller, Tutorial System, Simple Quests ... We will work also on solving new issues and on re-checking some older issues. Other new features will be added as implementing planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Alpha 42 - Lagoon Island, Campfire on Floor, Candle Lantern
Fri, 11 October 2019

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 42' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding a new type of islands: Lagoon Island. Campfires on Floor are finally here and a new Candle Lantern was also added. Lots of preparation work was done in the background and a couple of issues were fixed too.

The new Lagoon type Islands are a nice and interesting addition to the existing list of the island types. Later in the game they'll get special meanings and it will also be possible to find some rare stuff only on those islands.

The long awaited Campfire on Floor and on Raft floors is finally here. Its recipe also requires a newly introduced craft ingredient: Sand, which can be collected on the beach with Coconut Pots, Goblets and Tankards.. Maximum new campfire size is medium and cooking rocks cannot be removed.

Candle Lanterns make the traveling at night with wind and rain easier as weather effects won't affect those lanterns. Torches from now on will be extinguished in the rain.

The base functionality for a simple In-Game Tutorial system has been laid down and the first couple of tutorials will be available soon. The mechanic allowing to attach some objects to other objects could almost be completed to make it possible to attach Windows, Doors or other objects to building modules or attach Barrels, Crates and Boxes to Rafts.

Changelog:

New Features:

01. Added: Lagoon type Island
02. Added: Candle Lantern
03. Added: CampFire on Floor
04. Added: CampFire on Raft
05: Added: Sand as new crafting ingredient

General:

01. Added: Torch reacts to Rain effects
02. Changed: Craft Blueprint positioned closer to ingame character

Fixed:

01. Fixed: Game halting when loading very old savegames - improved compatibility engine
02. Fixed: Birds not landing to roost in the evening on (mainly) remote islands
03. Fixed: Collectible Crate and Barrel 'hanging' in the air and not moving with the Raft after save/load
04. Fixed: Fire-saw blueprint collides with other objects

Besides on working on the above mentioned mechanics we will work more on re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again and on the Dragging system. Additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Door, Window, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Game Controller, Tutorial System, Simple Quests ... We will also work on solving new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Alpha 43 - Fasten Raft Boxes, Bench & Stool, Collectible Chest
Fri, 1 November 2019

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 43' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding the mechanic to fasten Boxes to Rafts. The new Stool and Bench allows more comfortable resting. There is a new Chest for more valuable collectibles and a couple of issues were fixed too.

Fastening objects to Rafts allows you to make sure they won't fall off - even when approaching bigger waves. Boxes, chests and barrels only can be fastened and to do so you'll need a Strong Rope which can be crafted from a couple of Small Ropes.

Stool and Bench are helpful when looking forward to rest during hard work or to simply wait for some event. The mechanic is identical to sitting on the ground: Tiredness in the morning hours slowly decreases, increasing tiredness in the afternoon and in the evening will be slown down and Stamina recovery is sped up. The only difference is that the Stool decreases the tiredness faster than the Bench and the Bench faster than the ground.

On some shores of random islands you might find the new chests holding more valuable collectibles. More special items will be added in future updates and those can be found in these new Chests only.

Changelog:

New features:

01. Added: Fasten Boxes to Raft
02. Added: Stool model and recipe
03. Added: Bench model and recipe
04. Added: Strong Rope model and recipe
05. Added: Chest collectible

General:

01. Added: Functionality for displaying Hint Screens with Image
02. Added: Custom Tiredness recovery curve for Stool
03. Added: Custom Tiredness recovery curve for Bench
04. Added: Key shortcut hints for Map in ActionBar

Fixes:

01. Added: Additional logging to help tracking down some issues
02. Fixed: Crashing when saving Tree/Bush/Foliage after hitting but not cut down
03. Fixed: Sometimes shown white rectangle in ActionBar instead of icon of the object in focus
04. Fixed: Campfire on Raft base sometimes not correctly attached
05. Fixed: Objects of far remote islands disappear after save/load when player was on another island
06. Fixed: Sometimes Collectible crates were not at the exact position as before save/load
07. Fixed: Impossible to add Kindling to Campfire when there is evidently no Kindling in it
08. Fixed: Impossible to ignite Campfire when there is evidently Kindling in it
09. Fixed: Cooked objects on cooking stones that were removed re-appearing after save/load
10. Fixed: Mixing up liquid type in all Coconut pots when multiple separate coconut pots with different liquids are cooked at the same time on the same Campfire
11. Fixed: Unresponsive Equip/Pick up commands after Map was opened while holding an object in hand while with no free space in Inventory left to stash held item

We plan to work some more on making our game more user friendly with more Hints, Tutorials and narrative texts but re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again and the Dragging system will still be our top priority. The additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Door, Window, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Game Controller, Simple Quests ... We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Alpha 44 - Doors & Windows, Dragging system, Bucket
Fri, 22 November 2019

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 44' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding the mechanic for Doors and Windows. The object Dragging system was upgraded and a new collectible Bucket was also added. A couple of the issues were fixed too.

The Door & Window mechanic finally allows to completely seal off buildings against all of the weather elements. They can be attached/detached to Door and Window wall modules in a way similar to the raft building mechanic. Orientation of Doors and Windows can be changed any time holding a Hammer in hands after they were attached. This wall attach mechanic will be used for some other craftable objects which will be introduced in the next updates.

The object dragging system has been finally upgraded to work correctly while interacting with floatable objects. Simple objects are pushed by dragged objects but floatable objects aren't affected until they are dragged directly. Dragged objects won't be slowed down when they get in contact with other objects.

The new collectible Bucket makes transferring liquids easier and collects much more rain than other collectors.

Changelog:

New features:

01. Added: Attach to Wall mechanic
02. Added: 5 types of Doors
03. Added: 5 types of Windows
04. Added: New Dragging system
05. Added: Collectible Bucket

General:

01. Added: Item image shown in Journal Hint screen
02. Added: Hint pages with Image for Bench, Stool, Green Coconut and Brown Coconut
03. Added: ActionBar keys for Door&Window Open/Close and Next Position
04. Added: ActionBar keys for Door&Window Attach/Detach

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Incorrect collider in Window Wall modules
02. Fixed: Campfire on Floor sometimes not warming up ingame character
03. Changed: ActionBar key desription positions to allow longer 2 line text display
04. Fixed: Incorrect Actionbar Mouse button icon for some keys after they were remapped in Options
05. Fixed: Objects attached to raft sometimes losing the attached state after save/load
06. Fixed: Objects attached to raft sometimes displaying the attaching rope in wrong placement after save/load

We plan to work some more on making our game more user friendly with more Hints, Tutorials and narrative texts but re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again will still be our top priority. The additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Game Controller, Simple Quests ... Alpha 45 - Controller support & Tutorials
Sat, 14 December 2019

Hi everyone,

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding Controller support and a basic system for Tutorials too. There are a couple of small features we added and a couple of issues were fixed too.

Controller support is now finally available and its engine is compatible with the majority of available game controllers out there. As this is the first implementation for Controller support we are putting fixing possible incompatibility altogether with completing some of the minor UI issues onto our to-do list.

The Tutorial system is currently offering simple Tutorials to help get familiarized with some of the basic mechanics of the game. More detailed and specialized tutorials will be added continually. Along with that we have added an additional Tutorials screen to the Journal from where Tutorials can be started, stopped, restarted or continued for any of the tutorials available. And in Options menu there is also a switch for displaying Tutorials or not.

As we received lots of responses from our gamers being confused about special game variables meaning in "Custom Game" menu, we added new tooltip texts and information to this screen. Window panels were given a new (and more practical) top hinge position when attached and we have also added a Small Chest which may be serving a special purpose in future updates.

Changelog:

New features:

01. Added: Controller support
02. Added: Tutorial system
03. Added: Tutorials screen in Journal
04. Added: New Small Chest object
05. Added: New Hint screens for Doors and Windows describing the Attach/Detach procedure
06. Added: New Tooltip texts and screens in Custom game screen describing DayForward and TimeFlow game parameters

General:

01. Added: Top hinged position for Window panels
02. Added: Random Placement position for Collectible objects on shore
03. Changed: Raft rotation stopping faster
04. Added: Optimization procedures in preparation for bigger islands

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Game load sometimes freezing up when loading very old savegames
02. Fixed: Attached objects to Raft objects losing attached state after save/load
03. Fixed: Objects placed on raft sometimes very jumpy
04. Fixed: Small Barrel sometimes not correctly sitting on raft when attached
05. Fixed: Collider for Trunk Raft Module sometimes not working
06. Fixed: Attached object to Raft side modules not correctly attached
07. Fixed: Objects being incorrectly attached to raft base modules after 2x save/load
08. Fixed: Raft rocketing up after attaching Pillars or Rudders to it
09. Fixed: Word Wid -> Wind in Scenarions Challenges screen
10. Fixed: Floating/Jumping player character when dragging blueprints of big objects
11. Fixed: Unable to look closely at Sailing Pillars and Rudders after save/load
12. Fixed: Sometimes not saved attached state for Doors/Windows attached to Door/Window Wall modules built on raft
13. Fixed: Raft jumping around after save/load when Railing was built on it
14. Fixed: Raft jumping around after save/load when Doors/Windows was attached to Door/Window Wall modules on it
15. Fixed: Not correctly saved detached state of Doors/Windows detached from Door/Window Wall modules

We plan to work some more on making our game more user friendly with more Hints, Tutorials and narrative texts but re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again will still be our top priority. The additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Simple Quests ... Best wishes & Thank you!
Sun, 22 December 2019

Hi everyone,

we are heading towards the end of the year and before that we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting us throughout the year! Thank you for your ideas, suggestions and criticism helping us make Escape the Pacific a better game!

In 2019 we were mainly concentrated on adding basic mechanics and functionality. However we also ...
• expanded game content with many new models and introduced new island types,
• upgraded the game lighting system as much as the cloud system was replaced with a more realistic volumetric one,
• updated the cooking system and added new recipes
• and implemented the new-comer systems Vitamin C and Food diversity to provide a more challenging game experience.

As almost all of the basic features are already implemented (mainly, except of the 25 000 km2 open ocean with island clusters), we'll put our focus on adding more and more content for the next year, eg vegetation, island types, animals, quests, story elements ... and maybe the basics for multiplayer. Certainly we have some surprise elements planned too. With Escape the Pacific taking place in the mid 1800's there's a whole lot of possibilities to implement interesting and unique features. We hope that our community will continue to support us with new ideas, suggestions and with their positive energy - so, together, we get to improve the game and increase gaming experience. Some of your ideas we already received were truly inspiring and will find their way into the game sooner or later for sure.

Holidays are here and besides resting we plan to work on new features and on improving gameplay a little, working a bit less on the game than usual.

Our next build will be released in January 2020, until then:
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Do you like our game and want to help even more during development? We look forward to every positive review posted on our Steam page and thank everyone who decides to support us along the way!

Alpha 46 - Map & Compass, Boat Wrecks & Paddles, Wind effect, Objectives
Fri, 17 January 2020

Hi everyone,

the new Escape the Pacific version 'Alpha 46' is now available.

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding the mechanic for Collectible Map & Compass and there are new Boat Wrecks & Paddles on the shore too. The old lean-in Shelters with used objects and the player Wind effects make the game more interesting. More game changing elements were added and a couple of issues fixed too.

Map & Compass finally materialized! They are now like other collectible objects and without them equipped in the new special Navigation pockets it is not possible to do the Mapping! The compass and the map system will get a unique feature in future builds to make mapping more interesting.

As mentioned lately, the game will begin to continually get more and more content to make the gameplay more interesting and enjoyable. The first couple of gameplay elements from our huge list are here.

On some islands it is possible to find different Boat wrecks along with an optional Paddle which is of better quality and is durable for longer compared to the craftable version.

The Starting Island now does not have any man made objects, but some long forgotten survivor left a Stone Arrow sign on the shore indicating a nearby island where he placed his stash of objects.

Somebody has built some small A-type lean-in shelters on some of the islands with still usable objects around it.

The in-game character now feels the wind effects (slower walk/run speed into strong wind and vice versa) and you'll also hear exhausted Breathing and Heart beat sounds.

The basic mechanic for Objectives was also added. New Objectives (to help players with some of the game mechanics) and Quests (to motivate players for exploration) will be added continually. The Main Story elements will be added later.

Changelog:

New features:

01. Added: Collectible Map object
02. Added: Collectible Compass object
03. Added: Special navigation Pockets in Inventory
04. Added: Boat wrecks
05. Added: Degradable Paddle
06. Added: Wind sound
07. Added: Stone Arrow
08. Added: Old Shelter A object
09. Added: Breathing sounds
10. Added: Heart beat sounds
11. Added: Quests screen in Journal screen
12. Added: Wind affects Walking speed

General:

01. Changed: Island 1 collectibles are on Island 2
02. Added: Generation of Map and Compass in Small Chest on Island 2
03. Added: Boat Wreck & Paddle spawning randomly on Shore
04. Added: Stone arrow on Island 1
05. Added: Old Shelter A & Objects spawning around randomly on Shore
06. Added: Enough resources on starting island (except the Rocky one) to craft the starter tool set

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Rudder jumping/flying after detached from raft base
02. Fixed: Sail mast jumping/flying after detached from raft base
03. Fixed: Incorrect Icon for First Craft Campfire Tutorial
04. Fixed: Game crash when loading some of the older savegames
05. Fixed: Button texts for Tutorial Screen in Journal not translated

While adding more and more content, making our game more user friendly with more Hints, Tutorials and narrative texts, re-enabling the Sextant and the 5000x5000 km game map again is still our top priority. The additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Spear, Smoker, Ship wrecks, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Sharks, Simple Quests ... We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Thank you!

Alpha 47 - Ship Wrecks, Sharks, Primitive Shelters, Statues and more Islands
Fri, 21 February 2020

Hi everyone,

For this update we were mainly focusing on adding new content to the ocean: Ship Wrecks and Sharks. On the ground we have primitive Shelters and Native's Statues. Canoes are now affected by wind and there are some preparation works for future bigger and mixed islands also. There are more game changing elements added and a couple of the issues were fixed too.

Sunken Shipwrecks near islands' shores are just the first ones from the wide list of ships to be added in the future on the Pirates' side and on the Royal side too. Materials can be salvaged from those wrecks to be re-used in interesting new building and tool recipes. Ships will add some more interesting gameplay and story elements in future updates.

Our new White Sharks are the first ones to populate the waters and will make the game more interesting and challenging. They are behaving rather neutral now and can be seen swimming near ship wrecks. Sharks will get a more sophisticated behaviour and some special features as the time passes.

A new recipe was added to build a very simple and primitive A-type shelter which can be a big help in situations when the player needs some rest in a more or less protected environment while being very short on resources.

As natives once also occupied a couple of islands, one island served as a special/sacred place for them. Some statues can be found standing on the cluster islands' shores looking in the direction of the sacred island or looking to the opposite direction trying to force visitors to turn back and run for his life. The island with sacred place will get some special meanings and interesting features in future builds.

The island cluster was enlarged to have 20 islands at maximum. It will allow to add more diverse island types and there will also be more space to add some quest destinations/elements in the future. The amount of bigger island was increased too.

A new collectible Old Stick paddle with already degraded quality was also implemented including an old burnt down medium Campfire with collectibles around. The very old savegames aren't supported any more and the game won't hang-up trying to decode them. Seagulls are finally sleeping silently during the nights and a couple of Hint screens were added to help understand some of the games new features.

Changelog:

New features:

01. Added: Ship Wrecks
02. Added: Sharks
03. Added: Primitive Shelter recipes
04. Added: Statues
05. Added: Wind blows the Canoe
06. Added: Old burnt down Campfires with collectibles

General:

01. Changed: Increased maximal Island amount
02. Changed: Increased bigger Island amount
03. Added: Ritual place on one island
04. Added: Silenced/Sleeping Seagulls on rocks at night
05. Added: Limited backward savegame compatibility to ensure stability
06. Added: Collectible Old Stick Paddles with degraded quality
07. Added: Hint screen "Sails"
08. Added: Hint screen "Walk in Wind"
09. Added: Hint screen "Wind blows the Canoe"
10. Added: Hint screen "Attaching the objects to Raft"
11. Added: Hint screen "Statues"
12. Added: Hotkey info in ActionBar for Stand Up when Sitting
13. Added: Functionality for "Sit on floor"

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Misleading Turtle Achievement texts on Store page (First Turtle and 50 Turtles)
02. Fixed: Incorrect Sleep_I achievement unlocking

04. Fixed: Corrected all "Salt" texts to "Salz" in DEU language file
05. Fixed: Sometimes not displaying Boat wrecks and old paddles on islands
06. Fixed: Sometimes not displaying Old Shelter with Oil Lamp on islands
07. Fixed: Incorrect hotkey icon for "Sit on Stool" in ActionBar when using Controller

As there were added a lot of new features in the last couple of releases for the next update we plan to continue with fixing issues with higher priority. Additional plans include also the Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Spear, Smoker, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Simple Quests, Building modules aging ... We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Hi everyone,

For this update we were mainly focusing on fixing existing issues, however we'll have a new collectible Old Iron Axe, an Old Wood Hammer and a new Shelter too. The Ritual stone spawns some more types of food now. Alpha 49 - Grassy Island, new Build material & modules, Transport Canoe
Fri, 17 April 2020

Hi everyone,

besides still focusing on fixing existing issues we managed to add a new grass system, new rocks and bigger Grassy Island. The new Tall Grass can be used as material for the new Grass building modules tier. The Long Canoe allows transporting of boxes, chests and barrels attached to its back part. A couple of older game breaking issues were fixed too.

The finally arrived optimized new grass system (along with a new ground texturing mechanic) opened the path for introducing bigger islands. The first in the list is the new bigger (to this time the biggest) Grassy island which features also the new Grass and new Rock models.

The new Tall Grass can mainly be found on this island type which can be used as a building material for a brand new sort of building modules.

The Grassy island offers slightly limited building methods because only small bushes are available and the only way to get away from this island is to build a canoe or small raft from driftwood.

The new Long Canoe allows to transport boxes, chests and barrels attached to its back part. It moves slower than the simple Canoe but can be a big help when it is needed to transport objects against the wind over shorter distances.

Among a couple of minor ones also two major issues were fixed: Attached crates, chests, boxes and barrels aren't automatically detaching during longer journeys between the islands; Seagulls sitting on the Nest rocks don't fall/clip into rocks after being shot down.

Changelog: (* needs new game)

New features:

01. Added: Optimized Grass system
02. Added: Optimized ground texturing mechanic
03. Added: Grassy Island*
04. Added: Tall Grass Roll build material*
05. Added: Grass based building modules
06. Added: Long Canoe for transportation

General:

01. Added: New realistic Rocks*
02. Added: New realistic Grass
03. Added: Filtering possibility of materials in Build screen

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Old Iron Axe damage increased to 130
02. Fixed: Missing Stone Arrow on some Lagoon Islands
03. Fixed: Missing inventory icon for Banana Shelter 2
04. Fixed: Not stackable empty Coconut pots (for originally empty Coconut pots after cooking)
05. Fixed: Incorrect displaying 'Empty' hotkey for WaterHolder on Cookplace
06. Fixed: Incorrect displaying 'Fill' hotkey for WaterHolder on Cookplace
07. Fixed: Incorrect ground texture (grassy) for Rocky Islands
08. Fixed: Incorrect HP shown for Old Stick Paddle before first use
09. Fixed: Recipes not Cooking on CookPlaces
10. Fixed: Not applying hunger value when Drinking Cooked recipe (for example Boiled meat and Egg)
11. Fixed: Missing description text in inventory for Dead Grass and Old Stick Paddle
12. Fixed: Shot down Seagulls clipping into Nest rocks
13. Fixed: Small live Seagull body size
14. Fixed: Auto "detaching" objects from Raft bases on the ocean when travelling to islands far away

For the next update we plan to recheck the raft building mechanic and to continue the work on the Sailing UI with higher priority. The additional plans include also the Old Telescope, Old Knife, Old Watch, Sun Clock, Map UI, Fruit ripening, Fruit regrow, Spear, Smoker, Sailing UI, Dolphins, Simple Quests, Building modules aging ... We will work also on solving new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Alpha 50 - Sailing UI, Fruit Ripening & Regrow System, Old Knife
Fri, 15 May 2020

Hi everyone,

for this update we were mainly focusing on adding the Fruit Ripening & Regrow system with a couple of fruit ripe stages and the long awaited Sailing UI which makes sailing much easier in the early stages of the game. There is a new Collectible Old Knife and a couple of issues were fixed too.

The Fruit Ripening & Regrow system was a huge change in the game engine, brings many more interesting challenges and features and changes gameplay essentially. Existing fruits have gotten a couple of new models in different ripe stages and there's even more to come later during the development phase. The different fruit types have different ripe stages, ripe speeds and different regrow intervals.

Finally, the new Sailing UI has been added - being a big help to learn the sailing mechanic, mainly in the early stages of the game. The Sailing UI comes with 5 different difficulty levels: from very easy 'Starter' having automatic systems up to 'Expert' where you are in full manual control and UI indicators are turned off as well. Switch between each of the different levels freely at any time. It is still possible to individually and manually control Sails and Rudders as before. The Sailing UI difficulty levels are not meant to be mistaken as Sailing Physic Realism/Difficulty levels which will be added later.

There is a new collectible Old Knife which offers stronger hits. The other knives and blades with different properties are on the way.

The Canoe buoyancy mechanic has been updated to be not so jumpy and based on that new mechanic the buoyancy for all raft modules will be updated too.

Changelog: (* needs new game)

New features:

01. Added: Fruit Ripening system*
02. Added: Fruit Regrow system*
03. Added: Fruit ripe stage models*
04. Added: Sailing UI
05. Added: Collectible Old Knife*

General:

01. Added: Improved buoyancy for all canoes
02. Added: Restriction attaching additional rudders in opposite directions than the first one

Fixes:

01. Fixed: Tall Grass Roll has no weight in inventory
02. Fixed: Tall Grass Roll has no volume in inventory
03. Fixed: A couple of minor internal Raft issues
04. Fixed: Freshly harvested Brown Coconut not floating (ok after save/load)

For the next update we plan to work on raft building mechanic issues some more and to begin to work on the local mapping system (and UI) with the Sextant (along with Sun Clock and Old Watch) with higher priority. The additional plans include also the Old Telescope, Spear, Smoker, Dolphins, Simple Quests, Building modules aging ... We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Alpha 51 - Sextant, Pocket Watch, Sundial and more
Fri, 12 June 2020

Hi everyone,

for this update we were mainly focusing on adding the Sextant and using it in the Local Map. The Old Pocket Watch and Sundial helps the more precise mapping.  Ripened fruits fall to the ground and Water holder objects have gotten dynamic weight. A couple of issues were fixed too.

The Sextant has been finally added and enabled to use in the Local Map. It offers faster position measuring than the Triangulation does - of course after learning its basics which are described in detail in the in-game help pages and hint screens. To make the use of the Sextant in a more simple way, the game offers the best accurate measuring around Noon. Noon time can be more or less accurately determined by crafting and using a Sundial.

The Sundial is the most simple and oldest tool for measuring the time. It can be crafted anywhere on the ground and besides 1 Branch as the time passes it needs Tiny or Small Rocks to be added to the endpoints of the branches shadow. It is possible to pick up the unnecessary Rocks from it again. When the shadow is not shortening anymore and slowly begins to grow it is the the moment of right noon.

The Old Pocket Watch can be set also based on the Sundial and can be used in the game as a time reference. It can get inaccurate after a couple of days, therefore it needs to be reset periodically - best around Noon.

The Old Pocket Watch and the Sextant can be found in a chest on some shipwreck - the location can be found written on a paper piece in a chest on the island to which the Stone arrow on the starting island is aiming to.

The Fruit Ripening & Regrow mechanic have gotten a nice update - a portion of the fully ripened fruit now falls to the ground. Fruit fallen lays untouched for a couple of days and after that disappears. During that interval they are slowly spoiling as the other fruits do. This change gives more realism and slightly more fruit available for the player to survive.

The water holder objects now are weight based on the amount of the liquid contained. The savegame backwards compatibility engine has been fine tuned too so some of the older save games won't force the game to freeze at loading/starting.

Changelog : (* needs new game)

01. Added: Sundial
02. Added: Old Sextant*

We will work also on solving the new issues and we will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Thank you!

G4GTeam.

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to ask us. We will try to answer your questions in detail.
