Mission Summary :
Escort a platoon of supply vehicle through the 21 checkpoints as the leader of the Spanish forces (Colebrook). You must get supplies to the VEC reconnaissance units in the objectives. This is a combat logistical patrol exercise heavy. Configure your units, and tactics to deal with a British force (Asid) of trucks, infantry, PCs, and possible tanks along your route or in the area of operations. No contact drive time is about 1 hour 25 minutes at medium speeds.

Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HAVOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.)

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy:
   British forces consisting of infantry, combat trucks, personnel carriers, IFVs, and possibly tanks are setup in the area to disrupt, and or destroy logistical operations to reconnaissance units.


b) Own:
                 Colbrooks (Tercios) consisting of two platoons of LMVs, one platoon each of Pizarros and Centauros, and on platoon of supply/fuel vehicles.


c) Attachments and detachments:

                   One platoon of Leo 2E if armor is located in sector, by trigger, and only after 80 mins.


2) MISSION:

Conduct combat logistical patrol following the route on map starting at checkpoint 1. Deliver supplies to the units in each objective, while sustaining minimal losses. Supply units must make it to all objectives.


3) EXECUTION: Conduct CLP to provide resupply to objectives in sector.



Intent: Intent: Conduct CLP operations to all objectives along route with minimal losses.

We are not asking you to be an expert with all vehicles but at least proficient with the vehicle you select and play in mission.

I have made a short familiarization mission for everyone. You will be able to get into all the vehicle in mission, and test them out. There is a description in the briefing.

Make sure you come prepared to show you know what you are doing, and for those that do not, you need to learn quick. Those that cannot preform on mission vehicles, will be left up to the mission CO and DOW senior leadership if they will participate in mission.

The reasoning for this is as follows.
1. There are only 18 vehicles (including supply vehicles, and 3 more tanks after 1hr 20mins) in mission. If you get your vehicle killed, you will probably be gunning or driving for someone.
2. This is a long mission. Testing with 4 people took over two hours, and we did not complete the whole things. (There have been changes to the mission based on this for time, vehicles in game, and other items.)
3. The longer you take to learn or show you know what you are doing, the longer it takes to get into the actual game.
4. Not being able to use the vehicles, breaks the immersion and realism that Saturday missions are all about.

Please come prepared, and ready for the vehicles in mission, so that everyone can have a great mission that brings immersion and realism.

New vehicle load is 2 LMV, 6 Pizarro, 6 Centauro, and 4 supply. One platoon of 3 Leo 2E after 80 mins and triggered.

I did Gunnery range for all those vehicles, and it seem's that I now know how to make good use of them. Not that I'm perfect, but at least first shot hit is almost certain.

More over LMV:s weapon station is really interesting going to do some more testing to learn it better. After a bit of playing while hating it, I have started to love it.

So...   yeah This is Lumi. Ready for any gunnery test of any of those vehicles.

We played the mission and had a great time.

Well put together Cougar. Though I think it requires quite a bit of time to complete to a decent level. We played for just under 3 hours.

I am glad you guys liked it. So far from what I have seen you guys had a few issues. If I may say, this is what I thought went wrong.

1. The operation focused on normal combat operations, and not combat logistics patrols. We maneuvered mainly outside of the route, and got bogged down dealing with things far way.
2. Resupply operations were conducted while enemy units or troops were in the objective area. This would not happen until the area was safe.
3. Coordination and supporting of the different types of units together did not happen. Individual platoons or sections worked separately instead of supporting the convoy movement.
4. Units setup in battle positions instead of isolating enemy, and dealing with them.
5. Unit problems and damage did not make it up to the CO properly, which then they were used when they should not have been.
6. The trigger for the supply zones was setup for individual supply units, and when they were put into sections, then the event triggers would not work anymore.

My thoughts on how I may have done this, would be to have the LMVs scout the route on the road as convoys would use them not off road. I would support them with a platoon of Pizzaros, and a section of Centauros. I would have the platoon of centauros as rear area back up, and the section of pizzaros as protection of the supply vehicles. Maneuver, isolate, fix, and destroy contacts as they present themselves. I would push up, fix, maneuver to the flanks quickly, and eliminate enemy. Must keep the convoy moving. I believe we have become too dependent on tanks. We must use the assets that we have, and tactics for them and the type of mission.

You guys did well in doing what needed to be done, and we cannot always win. 
I hope as we expand our use of vehicles, the more we use them, and the different types of missions, that we will do better and better at it.

Yes it was a long mission. The reason why I mentioned that the focus should have been focused on the enemy in the path of the convoy.

As well as you mentioned the briefing. I assumed that having the checkpoints numbered 1 through 20 something with a route would be obvious, as well as the previous testing with members that were in game would have helped on that. I will have to make the briefing more detailed.

The problem with the tasks of supply drop were setup for individual supply vehicles, and with them in sections, they would not work. That has been fixed for the future.
