About the floating bug situation
02 July 2019


Dear community,

In the recent build some people have encountered the floating in the sky bug after loading the game. Many people start to help us figure out why the bug could happen but some people just start to blame us how we dare to release such a broken version without testing it. So I want to clear the situation.

1. We always test the game for at least a few days in both builds, developers build in unity and steam build.
2. If we get any game breaking bug we will definitely not release it in the main build.
3. As soon as we got this bug reported, we were working nonstop and even didn't sleep just to fix it as quickly as possible.
4. We couldn't test this bug by ourselves that's why it took much longer time than usual to fix this bug, but anyway we were trying and releasing many builds to test it with the community.
5. We are very sorry for people who got this bug and couldn't play for these two days and we totally understand how frustrating it can be.

Why this bug happened not for everyone:

It is because for some reasons some computers will have a wrong float saved to the save file and then after loading the game the player will spawn in the sky or somewhere else. We have fixed this bug from the saving point of view but if your old saves are already corrupted, the game will automatically reset your location.

I just really wish our community can understand this kind of situations for the future and be more friendly, as we are really trying our best. And also want to thank people who supported us and help to test, it increases our productivity a lot.

The hot-fix for this bug is out.

Test build

Hello everyone,

We had released one update (v0.943Beta) in the Test build, where most of the bugs which were because of saves (like changing location whenever load game, 1 health, failed quests, prisoners attempts don't update, etc.) are fixed. But it's recommended to start a new game if your old saves are broken.

We don't put this version to the main build because it still has some small bugs, so we will keep it in the Test build until we make sure it has no big bugs.

Today or tomorrow we will release another update in the Test build, where will add some new small features, more details about this update we will announce later.

So if you want to help us with testing or just try new features, just switch to the test build.😉


To Opt Into the Test branch.
Launch the Steam Client. Go to the LIBRARY tab. Right click on Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare and select Properties. Then click the BETAS tab. Then select "test-Test Version" from the drop-down and close the window. Then update the game and you are ready to go. You can opt out at any time to get the default version of the game.

Hello everyone,

We have uploaded the V0.943 beta to the beta test branch.

The major changes are as follows:

•   Fixed the issue that the game runs incorrectly after loading the game (this is due to API incompatibility and we have fixed it)
•   Increased maximum level cap of soldiers to level 15 again.
•   Faction armies' level (different faction troops have different initial levels)
•   Some UI optimizations (we will continue to improve the UI and user experience in the following updates)
•   Right mouse button to rotate cameras.
•   Fixed some localization errors.
•   Game Tips during loading.
•   Black market appears randomly according to player's level.
•   Resource Points have a chance of dropping high level props.
•   Helmets, armor and weapons appear based on player's level.
•   List of goods produced in cities.
•   Two new skirmish maps were added.
•   Added army's strength comparison display for auto-combat so the player can understand the probability of winning the auto-combat.

Test version bugs which are fixed:
- disappearing prisoners
- disappearing unassigned units

Also adjusted prices for some weapons and balance of some units.

The 0.951 update is as follows:
•   Bug fix: Cities and villages have wrong urgently needed props from what bartenders say.
•   Bug fix: Sometimes Convoys appear in city garrison.
•   Bug fix: Changing WASD buttons for controlling Strategy Map don't work to the World Map as well.
•   Bug fix: Can't use some new guns after you equip them.
•   Bug fix: Squad moves to the side from the Deployment Zone after you deploy them.
•   Bug fix: consistent Military Shirt and Jungle Shirt texture.
•   Bug fix: Binocular sound effect.
•   Bug fix: Hit-Marker shows when you are shooting dead bodies.
•   Modify some props icons.
•   Improved English and Russian localization.

The next version focuses on:
•   More efficient AI intelligence, improve AI response speed, and countermeasures.
•   Add new guns and adjust current gun feel and balance data.
•   Add new cities, villages, strongholds, skirmish maps, etc.

0.96 beta update is as follows:

•   Improved AI intelligence, reaction, speed, and response measures, increased AI tactics to deal with different battles.
•   Optimized AI Intelligence on the World Map and improved Reaction Speed in general.
•   17 new maps, including 6 cities, 6 strongholds, and 5 villages.
•   New squad formations.
•   New combat squad command "Follow Me".
•   Three new companions.
•   Added recruitment tasks for companions. Changed recruitment option after capturing companion.
•   Added Glass Breaking effect.
•   The new building "hospital" can be built into the city, you need to pay to heal your squads.
•   Adjusted the balance of gun data, improve AK12 damage and shooting accuracy, and partly adjust the price of bullets.
•   Adjusted some clothes and maps in material quality to improve the effect of the display.
•   Bug fix: Some helmets and masks can't wear together.
•   Bug fix: Prisoners' window UI sometimes stuck on the battle map.

The optimization of the camouflage system: clothing will provide the different value of camouflage for the terrain. Prone and crouch will increase camouflage. In grass and near trees, camouflage will be increased. While moving and shooting camouflage may be decreased.

Optimize the soldier AI intelligence, increase the soldier revenge mechanism. After the attack, AI will do counterattack. Increase the idle soldier priority set the target to the enemy around the player. Optimize price for fixing damaged buildings.

Bug fix: soldiers not being able to shoot with some guns.

Bug fix: white texture problem after loading.

Bug fix: allies sometimes kill each other.

Bug fix: enemy AI don't die.

•   Increased the frequency of other factions attacking bandits.
•   Reduced the spread of shotguns, improved accuracy, increased the damage of shotguns.
•   Fixed the bug that bullets pass through enemies at close range.
•   Fixed the bug when enemies die their icon doesn't disappear.
•   Fixed some companion dialogue bugs and recruitment tasks bugs.
•   Added more daily history texts.
•   Optimized some UI.
•   Optimized English and Russian localization.
•   Fixed the bug that friendly AI kills friendly AI.
•   Nearby friendly soldiers will target the player's current target.
•   Optimized the soldier's visual range. The snipers will spot the enemy much easier.
•   Optimized the AI suppression fire accuracy based on their level.
•   Optimized the balance of the item system and increase the value of individual items.
•   Optimized the loot system.
•   Fixed the bug that soldiers suddenly appear or disappear.
•   Fixed the "white texture" bug.

Hello everyone,

We are really excited to announce that our game Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare is now feature complete and going to release on October 4th, 9 pm EST!

It's been one year and 8 months since we participated in Early Access. During this time the game went through many changes. Most people won’t recognize the game anymore, and if you are curious about how the first version of the game looks like, you can download it from the Test Version Build when we fully release the game.

It started like a small scale game, which mixed FPS and elements of Grand Strategy, Real Time Strategy, and RPG, with not too many features and simple graphics. Very soon after release, this game started to grow and become more and more unique with complex systems, lore, and in-depth gameplay mechanics added to the game.

Now the game becomes more like an actual guerrilla warfare simulator, where you need to train civilians to become experienced fighters, equip them with whatever you can get, and fight together for the liberation of Cherniv.

We are very thankful to all the people who supported us during the development! It was an incredible experience to create this game together with the community. The development is never an easy task, we will never forget all of these sleepless nights and the tough decisions we had to make. We will never forget how we grew from three devs into a full production team. And most importantly, how we were shaping this game little by little with the community who also had a great passion for it. So once more, with all our hearts, we want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have supported us!

As we said, the game is features complete, but we will still keep fixing bugs, adding some minor features, content, and keep maintaining the game in total. We will also spend time in polishing the modding system and support players to build their own FGW mods!

V1.0 Update Content

•   Fix the problem that some computers can't run the game.

•   Added confirmation dialog when abandoning the mission.

•   Bug Fix: Cannot find tools anywhere.

•   Bug Fix: Ammo disappears when switching to binocular or grenade.

•   Bug Fix: Unable to exchange prisoners with companion generals.

•   Optimized the follow-me command. Squads will respond to your call quicker.

•   When soldier upgrades, their movement speed also increases.

•   Optimized the friendly garrison AI when defending the city, they will defend more rather than wandering on the map.

•   SR100 and HMG now use 11.43mm ammo.

•   Optimized 3 city maps, 4 camp maps, 2 village maps.

•   Added credit list.


We have also uploaded the First version of the game into the separated build so that you can compare from where this game started.
