it`s been in development for a very long time. Yes that means - we`ve been working at two games at once; and no we are not crazy, money hungry or evil (maybe a little bit evil), and yes MKW will be finished, and it`ll be spectacular...

With that out of the way - in the very near future we`ll publicly announce our new game, titled Stars End. But we wanted to share it with you first. Stars End is a complete departure for us from RTS genre. It is an open world multiplayer space themed TPS/FPS survival game. Something like No Man Sky and Ark having a baby.

Stars End has been in development for several years now, with full speed production ongoing for about a year. We mostly have separate sub-team working on Stars End, with it`s own creator and developer. So SE production doesn`t overlap with Medieval Kingdom Wars, and moving forward nothing is changing with our love and commitment to Medieval Kingdom Wars.

As a good example - with Stars End production going full speed over the last year, we are making really good progress with Medieval. In the end it comes down to having separate developers working on each title, something that we have gotten pretty good at lately. Also moving forward we plan to continue with our passion for RTS games, and MKW is definitely not the last Grand Strategy game that we have planned.

We plan to release Stars End in Early Access sometime in 2018.

Now we wanted to give you the first look at Stars End with this unreleased video. This is from a very old build dating a few months ago, so please ignore the older looking visuals.

About

Stars End is a multiplayer sci-fi survival game set hundreds of years in the future, in a star system colonized by humans escaping their dying home world.

Start with basic supplies and find a way into space - without any loading screens! Players will have the opportunity to travel the system to seek out resources, completing missions and uncovering mysteries - while building strongholds in space and planetside, continually facing the danger of other players.

Utilising procedural planets, the game world is vast - but it's not so large that you won’t be able to play with your friends.



The biggest feature of Stars End is planetary warfare and territory control, with hundreds of players populating each server. Be it FPS fighting across planets and space stations, or dog fighting in open space - Stars End brings system wide combat to the genre.

Make sure you keep your ship locked and your items stored safely in a container somewhere far away!

Alpha Testing Begins


Alpha testing starts today, with everyone who have applied invited to participate.
Hey Everyone,

We are glad to finally announce the start of Stars End Alpha testing. It`s been a long road getting the game to the playable state. We had a number of delays, and although couple of weeks late, we are finally here.

If you have applied to join the Alpha test during the past few months, you should receive email from us today with your key. If you have not heard from, please check the Junk mailbox, and if still nothing - email us, forwarding your original application email.

Alpha testing will continue for at least one week, and everyone who participates will get to keep full copy of Stars End once it goes to Early Access.

Also at this point signup are closed and we will not be accepting additional testers.

As you might have guessed we will need to push back our Early Access launch date, and decision of the exact date will be based on Your feedback. We are considering Wednesday next week, if things go well - but we`ll see - let us know what you think.

We really hope to hear from you!! In case you encounter any bugs and/or issues in the game, please use our Stars End forum on Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/app/623340/discussions/) to submit your bug report. Also, feedback is greatly appreciated, so feel free to post any suggestions and feedback (including screenshots) on previously mentioned site.

Game Update 0.615

The database has not required a wipe.

Server
- Bug fixed with server selection screen
- Server selection screen now has a scrollbar when the list is full
- Servers online count now counts only public servers
- Custom properties added to detect if its a dedicated or official server and updates accordingly
- Debug menu added for dedicated server.

Misc
- Decreased TPS interaction distance.
- Fixed some elements being cut in the input options menu.
- Adjustments to some roads in Janson and make sure no objects spawn in the middle of them.
- Item balance
- Loot drop bug fix
- Janson Spaceport: No crystals spawned inside the POI, added elevator signs, some props.
- Delta Shire: Road and sculpt adjustments.
- Changed amount of Plant Fiber and Woodsticks that some plants give.
- Localization string update
- Silicon item ID fixed
- Fuel issue fixed in prologue, Janson Frigate now gives Propulsion and Booster Fuel x2.

Release Delayed to Oct 4th + Join Alpha Test

Based on our Alpha testers feedback we are moving the released date to October 4th. Alpha testing is now open to all.
Hey Everyone,

We want our player community to be in charge of Early Access, helping us make the right decisions and shape Stars End into the game players want to play. As we have mentioned earlier - the final EA launch date will be decided by our Alpha Testers, and now that we have your feedback - it`s time to make this call...

Stars End launch is delayed until Friday October the 4th.

This is a firm date that we are 100% confident about. There will be no additional delays. We know we have a large community following - and we sincerely apologies for this delay. However we have a good way to make this up to you...

Open Alpha testing access
We are re-opening alpha tester signups. Everyone who has some extra time and wants to play the game before launch, can email us to get your Steam key. Everyone who takes part in testing the game will get to keep the game after it`s released in Early Access - with no need to buy it.

Contact us at support@reverieworld.com, Subject: Stars End Testing, and include a few words about yourself and your ability to help us test the game over the next couple of weeks.

Releasing Next Week
After couple of delays - we are glad to say that we are finally getting confident in the current state of the game. Sure - few more days of work ahead, but we can confidently say that Stars End will launch in Early Access next week. We are playing this day by day - and our launch window is Monday to Thursday next week. We`ll announce the exact date on Monday.

Alpha Phase 3 this Friday
The last phase of our Alpha testing will commence this Friday with over a hundred new players joining our alpha testers.

Game Update 0.624

The test server has been replaced with [Official] US East. More Official servers will be launching later in the day!

Server
- Server issue with vehicles not spawning properly is fixed.
- Server issue fixed where it was making 500 calls per minute.
- Harvested resources should update immediately.
- Loot containers should update immediately.
- Call added a new call for world loot to destroy in the world as soon as the picked up has registered.

Prologue
- Updated Miriam voices.
- Small correction to Miriam dialogue to match voice acting.
- Added Tutorial Spacecraft Items and updated the localization.
- McDerrik's Locker Quest fixed.
- Droid now gives Tutorial Items which cost 0
- Final prologue objective now respawns the player at Redberry Spaceport instead of reverting the quest to the droid.
- 24 spawns setup for New Raleigh Stables and Abandoned Hangar.
- Mission vehicles now delete after 2 hours, and also when the next major objective is completed.
- Polished Drone Mission NPC line (less annoying now!)
- Lt Shaw quest objective now shows correctly on the spawn screen.

Items/Resources
- Added some new crafting audio.
- Updated some plant colliders so they better fit the shape of the plant.
- Small correction to the over encumbered dialogue line.
- Adjusted Base weight and backpacks.
- Additional Item balance adjustments.
- Increased max encumbered level to maxWeight + 1500.
- Removed not being able to move at max encumbered level.
- New Propulsion and Fuel icons.

Environment
- Removed tower in New Raleigh and expanded the stables in its place.
- Fixed terrain overlapping at new raleigh stables.
- Abandoned Hangar Trees no longer spawning in the spaceport.
- Tigon color adjustments - more alien, toxic and different from Beta Prairie.
- Anu Gas Giant is now a bit darker and desaturated.
- Adjusted gravity area in Orbital station to not get stuck in some places of the interior without gravity.

Weapons
- Fixed CombatKnife and Machete not doing damage.
- Adjusted damage amounts for all melee weapons.
- Removed initial silence in axe chop sound. Not it's better synchronized.
- Adjusted all melee attack animation speeds so all match the duration specified in code (1.3 seconds). This fixes some timing problems like attacks sometimes not executing.

Misc
- Clan invite reworked, now a window that stays on screen until you accept or decline
- Horses have 50 default stamina.
- Fixed forward vehicle key issue in input settings
- Capturing Nova requires 3 Power Cells, capturing a Territory requires 5. Capturing Land Vehicles and Horses require 1 Power Cell.
- Localization fully updated with various corrections in different languages.
- Corrected ferryman dialogue
- Fixed errors that happened when buying a Ferry with credits. It wouldn't actually use credits but delete a FerryPass even if the player doesn't have one, causing errors.
- Fixed error that made Ferry not play an AI narration when taking off, also some code refactoring there.
- Localized all Ferry Vendor texts.
- Increased Reset settings button width.
- Removed some audio at the beginnind of the tree falling sound so it matches better with the animation.
- Decreased melee attack duration to 3 seconds and adjusted some timings.
- Adjusted territory claim loading distance and text distance
- Increased LOD Bias for low quality setting.
- Layout fixes to the get loot window. Now it should work on all resolutions and aspect ratios.
- FPS camera is now higher.

Hey Everyone,

As we are crunching towards Early Access launch in 4 days, we have another major alpha update today. We`ll continue with daily updates all the way until launch... well actually I guess we`ll continue with daily updates after launch as well... We`ll rest next year:)

And to confirm Stars End launch is schedule for 3pm EST, on Thursday October 10th. We will have at least 10 official servers live for launch, and can expand with more by Friday evening depending on player numbers.

For now we`ll only keep 1 official server running, as we really want to start trying to max out sever population, and soon try the waiting ques.

And so presenting update 0.629

Server
-Several new servers added covering Europe, Asian and various US locations (offline for now to help stress test just 1 server)
-Major improvements to server stability and performance
-Delay removed on picking up world loot, plants and harvested rocks.
-Loot container function completely revised and should be 10 times faster
-In case of a server crash, server will auto restart and be back online within 30 seconds
-On taking down or restarting the servers all players are now kicked
-Added various commands for controlling official servers booting, shutdown e.t.c

Important Fixes and additions
-Various metal loot including Scrap Metal can now be collected in the environment without tools - located by the big metal structures
-Fixed prologue issues with spawning half way into the Cryo Chamber
-Fixed prologue issues with some players spawning in a floor, or being stuck and unable to continue
-Fixed major issue with main menu getting stuck on the screen when logging into the game
-Fixed major issue with unable to start sawing a log
-Fixed issue with sawing logs (still one problem there - logs disappear too fast)
-Turned off a bunch of items that weren't meant to be craftable yet, like concrete floor e.t.c
-Fixed a bug with closing and opening wood storage container

Misc
-Much faster mining, wood chopping e.t.c animations
-Reduced super sized mech bullet casing when shooting
-All in-game music and sound now properly turns off when exiting to the main menu and will not continue when logging back into the game
-Weight of tutorial Hangar sequence items greatly reduced
-Meat Stew now recovers hunger
-Rain volume decreased
-Copper Added to all asteroids
-Copper also added to the mine (but not working yet - just mine in space using NOVA for now)

Hey Everyone,

This wasn`t an easy decision... but considering our tester feedback, and the current issues with the server lag - we have to postpone the release to Monday October 14th. We will be missing amazing launch spot that was opened for this Thursday, but we`d much rather have a better game launch, then take advantage of this extra visibility on Steam. Stars End really needs a few more days, and we`ll make good use of each and every extra day...

We`ll have a major update 0.63 tomorrow that should have majority, if not all of the server issues resolved. And we`ll continue pushing with daily updates all the way until launch. We are making giant progress with each passing day, and will have the game in the great shape for Monday.

Meanwhile - we plan to have a major testing event this weekend. With servers fixed, and main bugs resolved - we`ll be inviting more players, as well as all of our current testers to take part. No server resets, crashes, or lag - just pure gameplay weekend!

Really sorry for any inconvenience, but this is for the best - we really don`t want to disappoint anyone with a messy launch.

Game Update 0.630

Due to a large server rewrite, the database has been wiped.

Server
- World array system replaced with a new version which instead of using one array to hold all data, has several arrays per location. Players only require the data for the area theyre in.
- Old relative objects system phased out, merged with world array.
- Voice chat removed for now (pending server stability)
- TreeLogs now pickup faster without delay.
- Fixed a leak with world items spam spawning on the server

Chat
- Chat now broadcasts properly when sending a message.
- Chat window sizing improvements that should better fit all resolutions.
- Fixed small issue in which the chat window would lose focus even when clicking in certain areas of the window.
- Opening chat window now uses the keyboard key set in the options.
- Chat font changed.

Misc
- Changed position of the personal server button in main menu.
- AI frequency on BP decreased a little, was a bit too full on.
- Changed scrap metal by metal ruins to only spawn in at 30 metres.
- Broken aiming while holding weapon is fixed in TPS
- Fixed errors that happened after closing inventory window while inside a vehicle
- Moved ferry vendor and quest NPC in Orbital station.

Last Day of Alpha - Update 0.632

Hey Everyone,

Today`s major update finally completes the Early Access build. We are glad to say that in the last big push over the weekend we have managed to resolve all the leftover game breaking bugs and finally get the game servers stable. We will have one more pre-launch update tomorrow fixing the current few remaining noticeable bugs.

At this point we have the Worldwide Server running smoothly - and time has come to push it to the full capacity - with upwards of 100 players online at once.

If you have a bit of time today around 11am EST - 3pm EST, please join us and play the game on the Official Worldwide server. We`ll keep one server running for the next 10 hours, before bringing all the 15+ game servers online for tomorrow`s launch.

We also want to take a moment to say Big Thank You to all of our alpha testers! Your help during the past month was essentual in helping us prepare for Early Access launch.

And so presenting update 0.632:

Server Updates

•   New claim management server system due to claims filling up the scene quite fast
•   Server scans player locations to see if a networked claim is required for that position
•   Sun code merged with solar system values for better server performance
•   A fix for world objects not destroying for the hosting player, as the slot was getting cleared before the object was destroyed.
•   Placed components now pickup immediately for the local player to avoid duplication
•   Local vehicles now pickup immediately for the local player to avoid duplication
•   An effect controller error resolved while playing on a server
•   Big array issue fixed with loading data
•   Fixed an issue where area components could be loaded before data is received
•   Small code refactoring related to shutdown server command.
•   Changed the way players get data from the array at startup, one call per existing array entity, if it is filled, as opposed to one network call per sub array which will resolve server load and potentially errors when sending out area data.
•   Some misc errors fixed at startup
•   Fixed some misc errors when playing on a server

Bug fixes and improvements

•   Fixed not being able to exit a ship if going into pilot seat really fast after entering the ship.
•   Resolved the issue with infinite loot containers, not correctly clearing out its item slot on the server
•   Elevators now move on universal time rather than a networked value.
•   Fixed a bug with fuel not storing properly in ground vehicles
•   Fixed a bug with vehicle disappearing on logging out
•   Added a block to be able to initialize global prompt if the ui is active, which should stop global prompt being activated while already open
•   Further fixes to hopefully resolve container already opened messages, especially if a hosting player opens one.
•   Temporarily disabled LOD transitions for bushes and trees to avoid a flickering related Unity bug.
•   Fixed NPC sitting on nothing in Clayton Town.
•   In case Discord is not open, the game will try to connect to it a maximum of 5 times, instead of forever, since each attempt has a performance cost
•   Fixed radio auto turning off.
•   Workaround to not break sleeping when opening a menu or chat.
•   Fixed bed interaction in several places.

New Features

•   Improved TPS camera rotation while pressing ALT in air ships.
•   Some text validation in chat input text. It won't allow empty messages, new lines, and it will trim empty spaces at the beginning and the end of a message.
•   Improved and optimized some Tigon trees to support wind, and LOD distances adjustments.
•   New Invert Mouse Y setting.
•   Player log in and out messages will only show in the chat, instead of both chat and top notifications.

Misc

•   Demo hammer disabled for now due to a bug, players can pick up their pieces anyway.
•   Removed a bunch of debug notifications
•   Small fixes in localization.
•   Changed route 666 tooltip to Ignition
•   Personal server menu layout adjustments.

DAY One Update - Servers and More

...Update will be going live in about 15 minuets, will take us a bit of time to upgrade all the servers though, so once you login after you update your client, your preferred server might not be available for up to an hour...

Thanks for your support and sticking with us on Day 1. We are glad to see so many new players joining us, and we are especially grateful for not getting killed with negative reviews on day 1.

The team has been at it all day and night, and we are happy to present a big Day One update that should iron out majority of launch issues. As you might have noticed - servers on launch were not running that well - sometimes kicking players, and often lagging on actions. We are glad to say major of this has now been resolved.

This update also comes with several other important changes. This update was a huge undertaking as launch came with a rude awakening - our database needed to be upgraded. All the testing we`ve done during Alpha testing period could not prepare us for the big server issue that a large number of players - playing at once - have revealed today. The downside of small indie developer handling a big launch.

But the good news - this is now solved. The bad news - we had to do a server wipe. This is the one and only wipe we are doing now, and we will avoid this in the future at all cost. Just glad that this is a day 1 event, few hours after launch, and most players will only loose an hour or two of progress. We are really sorry about this!

The team continues work full speed on a Day 2 update, more great updates to come!

With that said - presenting Update # 1 (0.66)

•   Completely new database used by the game world server - faster, and more efficient
•   Server stability greatly improved, minimizing players getting kicked from the server
•   Server performance significantly improved - a lot less lag when performing actions

Upcoming Udpate # 3 Preview

Hey Everyone,

Thanks again for your support during the launch week! The team is hard at work on the 3rd update which is shaping up to be a major one.

We will need another 16-18 hours or so to complete and release it, so we figured we`d post a preview on what`s coming. Keep in mind this is just the larger fixes, we plan another several good changes and improvements to also be included with this update.

•   Completing maintenance on several servers that were down overnight
•   Fixing Loot Container box bug
•   Intro Cinematic for the Prologue - giving backstory on the game, and cool get out of stasis sequence on spawn (it was done before, but had too many issues thus disabled on launch)
•   Auto gathering with Axe or PickAxe by holding LMB (same for melee weapons)
•   Removing interaction timer from containers and NPCs
•   Additional server stability improvements and lag reduction
•   Resolving issues with duplicating vehicles and horses
•   Resolving issues with disappearing vehicles
•   Adjusting tutorial to make it clear how to refuel the spaceship
•   Various smaller bugs fixes across the board

We expect update to be live tomorrow by 11am EST, and we are expecting our 4th update to go live on Friday, with another big update for Monday.

Day Three - 3rd Update - Big Steps

Hey Everyone,

Thanks again for your support during the launch week, the team is pushing hard, and we are back with the third update. You can ready full details below, but to highlight things: storage containers will now work, also the several servers that`s been down from Tuesday are back. Prologue now has an intro cinematic. A lot of quality of life improvements like holding LMB to gather resources, and a lot more stability, lag reduction and other bug fixes.

Please note - that some players will loose their Claims as part of today`s big update. This does not effect characters or anything else - as this is not a wipe.

But since we completely rewrote claims code to work with hundreds claims on the server - and some players had a buggy claim before - some players will unfortunately loose their bases. Terribly sorry about this - and again - just like with previous full wipe of Day 1, or the long server timeout of Day 2 - we expect this to only happen once.

We continue working full speed - and you can expect another major Update 4 by Monday (or a smaller Update 4 by tomorrow...we`ll see) Update 4 will include reworked TPS camera with custom zoom levels, as well as fixes to all the vehicle issues, and so much more.

And so - presenting Update # 3(0.66)

•   Additional server stability improvements and lag reduction
•   After getting off a horse, camera sets to FPS.
•   Horse animation adjustments to better correspond player input
•   Fixed spaceport in New Raleigh when approaching it on a Ferry
•   Fixed exploit with duplicating objects and containers
•   Adjusting tutorial to make it clear how to refuel the spaceship
•   Adjusted descriptions and Help to indicate that there's no Lock item
•   Various smaller bugs fixes across the board
