Big Bear Airport Add-on Coming to Flight Sim World

Turbulent Designs are bringing Big Bear Airport to Flight Sim World, taking advantage of the updates to physically-based rendering to realistically map out this high-altitude airport.

You can find Big Bear nestled within the San Bernardino Mountains in the United States, close to 6000 ft above sea level.

If you're looking to replicate real-world flights into Big Bear, there are some specific flight rules for this GA focused airport. Inbound flights fly in over the ski slopes at 9,500 feet and departing traffic flys at or below 8,000 feet.

ABOUT THIS CONTENT

Experience the breathtaking views of San Bernardino County like never before with Big Bear City Airport (L35) from scenery veterans Turbulent Designs. The first airport add-on for Flight Sim World, Big Bear features highly detailed buildings, an accurate ground poly, and utilizes Turbulent’ s critically acclaimed Real Flora technology, all of which has been built from the ground up to take full advantage of the rendering technology upgrades in the sim.

Big Bear City Airport is a large general aviation airport located in Big Bear City in Southern California. The airport, nestled deep within the San Bernardino Mountains to the west of Los Angeles, sits at a staggeringly high altitude of over 6,500 feet (1980m). This provides pilots with challenging departures and arrivals due to reduced engine power and turbulence.

The single runway at Big Bear has an asphalt surface and is 5,850ft (1,783m) in length. You can enjoy exploring the surrounding mountains and lakes thanks to the large photo real coverage area of 65km2 with 30cm resolution across the entire area. This rewards you with stunning, seamless visuals as you ascend over the surrounding vicinity!
