I think they are busy with the long delayed terrain update. Also they attend some industry conventions.

I remember when the general consensus at esims and certain "supporters" was that graphics, physics and certain animations were only eye candy and not necessary for such a product. They have since realised that the newer generations demand more and immersion relies heavily on the senses.

Yeah, me too. But IMO Steel Beasts has seen more advances in graphics since Ssnake took over in 2012 than it did before 2012. After Ssnake took over, we got:

  • Genuine lighting system
  • Particle system
  • Post-processing
  • Native AA

But it's not just a long-term project for eSim Games, it's a long-term product for its military clients. They want to hang on to their computers for as long as possible, and they are wanting bigger maps. Therefore Steel Beasts needs to be as efficient as possible to make this possible. Yet it's taken them roughly 5 years after Ssnake took over to commit to multithreading. And they still aren't doing instanced rendering.

It's finally here, more than a year later. The version of Steel Beasts that is shown is Steel Beasts Pro v. 3.2:

I managed to figure out what monitors they're using. They're using HP Compaq LA1951g 1280x1024 monitors: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-compaq-la1951g-19-inch-lcd-monitor/3996177/product-info
Amazon says that the monitor was first made available in October 2009, the framerate on the monitors does slow down, and at least one of the laptops is still running Windows XP. So I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of their computer hardware is also from 2009.
