Carrier QualificationToday I hopped in a T-45C Goshawk at Pensacola Naval Air Station (KNPA) and flew south to where the USS Nimitz was waiting, making 30 knots due east. For this event I used FSX (boxed edition) with Tacpack (for the moving carrier), and vLSO for audible LSO calls and grading. The vLSO program is an excellent tool for gaining proficiency in carrier landings. The plane I am flying is the T-45C by Dino Cattaneo, an excellent FSX/P3D addon that is free to download. Dino has some payware as well (F35 and Typhoon) but donations are a good idea.
Here is the video of my last two attempts and (finally) getting an OK grade from the LSO. That guy is hard to please! I've also included some screen shots of the vLSO program displaying the logbook, and the profile (lineup and glideslope) for the OK landing. As you can see I am just getting started and hope to improve over time!
