Mission Summary :
Two platoons scout to nutralize enemy recon, identify enemy's main attack, fall back under pressure, and call for support 3 campanies of armor.

Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HVAOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.)

1) SITUATION:

a) Enemy:
   Soviet 211th Motorized Rifle Brigade is moving to attack in sector. Units will push with recon, followed by an advanced guard, and then the main attack.


b) Own:
                  3-5 CAV 1CAV DIV conducts recon in sector to determine location of enemy main attack. Units consist of one platoon of M3A2ODS, and a platoon of M1025 (X2) and TOW (X2)HMMWV.


c) Attachments and detachments:

                    Three companies of Armor two on main route picked, and one company on other route once enemy attack route is determined by player trigger.


2) MISSION:

3-5 CAV recons in sector to nutralize enemy recon forces, identify main attack, withdraw under pressure, and do so with minimal losses. Then 3-5 CAV armor units defend in sector to defeat enemy advance.


3) EXECUTION:



Intent: Provide recon for the battalion, eliminate enemy recon by H+45:00, and minimize losses. Then defeat enemy in sector with armor units.

Well that was not suppose to happen. Only thing I can think of was there is a condition were you have to kill enemy recon prior to 45 mins. The 45 mins I think is to pick your trigger. The other ways it can end is a low enough amount of AFVs left operational on blue, or red. That could have been it as well, that they did not have enough AFV's left before you pulled the trigger. Another way is if red gets its recon behind your lines.

Never had that happen before in the three tests, and one multiplayer game with it. Sorry it didn't work, and when I can I will look at why it did not trigger correctly either due to not fulfilling tasks, or due to something broken.

I looked at the mission, and based on what I could see from the twitch channel, and not having the AAR to look at, is Blue units did not move up enough to spawn trigger enemy units, which then caused the total number of enemy on the map to fall below the allowed number creating mission end condition. I have now moved the trigger areas, and number of units needed to trigger them, as well as the overall number left on the battlefield to be lower so this does not happen.

All previous attempts in testing, and the one time we played it, blue units moved up further before engaging recon, which started triggers, and therefore no danger of dropping too low of a number of enemy forces.

Sorry for the unintended issue it created and a short mission. It was going well, even if a little slower than planned in mission making. All units were doing well, no loses, Found most of the OP locations, were engaging enemy recon, and started to move further, just not soon enough for the conditions at the time.

The idea behind defeating recon in the X area was to keep them from seeing the valley, and therefore possible defensive positions blue force would have had setup. With the OP locations I could not have the units start on map, and become player controlled, as OPs might call arty on them over and over, and by the time the enemy main attack came, they would not be able to deal with it. I might be able to do that, but the problem could still happen that blue forces would not move fast enough.

Hopefully the changes made will take care of this though. We will play it again after some testing doing different tactics.

Well it was nice mission to begin with ^^   

Not all without troubles. I mean, there was trouble and confusion of who was in charge of northern section of brads, but it got solved eventually.

I look forward to playing this again -- all the way through -- as it started out great. The terrain appears to be very challenging.
